Chapter 159 Kill this scumbag

In a daze, Jiang Can heard a loud bang, the sound of a bullet piercing glass echoing through the courtyard.

Chaos ensued.

Jiang Can collapsed to the ground, her consciousness gradually fading. With her last bit of willpower, she struggled to crawl out.

"Husband, save me..."

Suddenly, a large hand grabbed her hair tightly!

The excruciating pain, as if her scalp and skull were being torn apart, made her cry out.

Before her consciousness faded, she felt the cold tip of a knife pierce her skin, and vaguely heard the man's voice in her ear:

"Third Master Huo, ha...you let me go, and I'll give you this woman, how about it?"

"You're not losing out in this deal! Just let me go, and I promise I'll never show my face in front of you again..."

"My wife is yours from now on!"

Huo Zhixing roared, and several bodyguards surrounded Gu Mang, but dared not make any rash moves.

The dagger was pressed firmly against Jiang Can's neck, and blood slowly seeped out.

Gu Mang sneered, and just as he retreated to the doorway, he shoved Jiang Can hard into Huo Zhixing's arms!

The bodyguards chased after him instantly, but to their surprise, Gu Mang jumped into a black sedan parked on the side of the road first.

The car had no license plate number and seemed to have been waiting by the roadside for a long time.

The bodyguards missed their target and couldn't even see the driver clearly, so they could only turn back and wait for Huo Zhixing's instructions.

"To the hospital! Hurry!"

Huo Zhixing carried Jiang Can the whole way, his body and hands stained with her blood.

He was at a loss, his chaotic mind going completely blank once again. He tried everything to stop her bleeding, but it seemed like he just couldn't stop it.

"Can Can, Can Can!" Huo Zhixing shouted frantically, "Open your eyes and look at me!"

Jiang Can showed no reaction; her face and lips had lost all color.

Huo Zhixing called her name again and again in despair. This was the first time he felt that death was so close to him.

...

The black car without license plates sped along and soon arrived at a sparsely populated suburb.

The wind was stronger by the river than in the city. With the car windows wide open, Gu Mang felt uncomfortable from the wind. Just as he was about to close the window, he suddenly saw the sinister look in the eyes of the person next to him in the rearview mirror.

“Mr. Gu,” the man said with a smile, “it seems you haven’t completed the Second Master’s task.”

"You..." Gu Mang finally came to his senses, wondering how he had jumped onto this car.

He ran out of the store, and the car just happened to stop in front of him, as if it were specially prepared for him... The escape went incredibly smoothly.

But the more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt.

Why were you waiting for me there?

"Of course, it was the Second Master's order," the man replied casually, turning on the car stereo. The heavy metal music was extremely jarring, like a shrill scream.

"The Second Master originally said that once you dealt with Jiang Can, he would let me... deal with you!"

Gu Mang's pupils suddenly contracted, and he placed one hand on the car door, watching him with extreme vigilance.

The boy in front of me was fair-skinned and looked harmless, but the gloom and ruthlessness in his eyes made him seem nothing like a twenty-year-old boy.

"Don't worry, Mr. Gu." He smiled. "If I wanted to get rid of you, I would have done it long ago. I wouldn't have dragged you here."

Gu Mang swallowed hard. "What exactly do you want?"

The man took a thick envelope and a business card from the glove compartment.

“Take this money and go to this address,” he said calmly. “Someone will meet you there, and this money should be enough for you to hide for a while.”

Gu Mang was somewhat bewildered and dared not accept the offer, wondering if this was yet another trap.

"Before you managed to kill Jiang Can, I had already told the Second Master about it." He turned to look at him. "This money was given to you by the Second Master. He said he was keeping it for you, as it might be useful in the future!"

The boy suddenly reached out and pinched Gu Mang's cheek hard, his face showing a mischievous expression.

"Heh, I think the Second Master's plan is quite good... It would be a real shame if you lost your face!"

Gu Mang felt a chill run down his spine. Even after spending so much time in prison and encountering gangsters like Lu Lishan, none of them were as chilling as the man in front of him.

"Go." The car stopped by the roadside, and a cold voice reached Gu Mang's ears, "Heh...you'll come in very handy later!"

Gu Mang opened the car door, grabbed the stack of money, and fled in panic.

The person in the car lowered the brim of their hat, a vague smile playing on their fair face.

...

Huo Zhixing waited at the entrance of the emergency room.

The blood on his hands had turned dark red. His hands were clasped together, trembling slightly, but his expression was cold and stern, with a hint of murderous intent in his eyes.

The bodyguards stood side by side behind Huo Zhixing, their expressions solemn. The one in the lead stepped forward and whispered:

"Third Young Master, we've checked all the surveillance footage at the intersections, and now we can confirm that the car was heading towards the suburbs."

"But... that driver is very cunning, and there are quite a few unlicensed cars in Jiangzhou. The car model itself isn't anything special, so it'll be a bit difficult to investigate."

Huo Zhixing remained silent, his silence chilling.

Lin Yuqing paced back and forth anxiously, her little hands clenched into fists and constantly biting her nails.

The light above the emergency room was like a ball of fire, burning her heart with pain.

Lu Lishan patted her shoulder, then glanced at Huo Zhixing, intending to persuade her to sit down and wait quietly. Unexpectedly, Lin Yuqing frowned and asked coldly:

"Is this person really Huo Zhixing?"

Lu Lishan looked at her helplessly and pursed his lips.

Since learning about Jiang Can's accident, she has asked this question no less than twenty times.
