Chapter 47 Don't move, leave it to me

Zuo Cheng stepped aside.

Cui Xuzhe lay sprawled on the ground like a rag doll, facing the warehouse door. His eyes were swollen and swollen. Through a narrow gap, he saw Cui Jiyang rushing over, looking travel-worn.

A smug smile curled at the corner of his bloodied lips.

Cui Ziqi, it’s over!

Cui Jiyang rushed in and, seeing his son tortured like this, flew into a rage.

"Cui Ziqi, you hit him?"

Cui Ziqi remained seated, unmoved, completely ignoring Cui Jiyang's anger.

He held Xia Wan's hand, his fingertips sliding to her palm, gently stroking the uneven scars there.

Xia Wan looked down at him.

His expressionless face was veiled in a sinister aura, and beneath his deep, icy eyes lay a profound disgust and ruthlessness.

"Are you blind? He fell to the ground on his own if I didn't hit him?"

Little pervert, quite arrogant, huh?

A smile involuntarily crept onto Xia Wan's lips.

Looking at Cui Jiyang again, his eyes and nose are neither quite defined; you get the feeling he's about to explode at any moment.

However, he seemed to still be somewhat wary of Cui Ziqi, and raised his hand to beckon to his bodyguard.

"Take the young master to the hospital."

As soon as the bodyguard stepped forward, Zuo Cheng led a group of people to block Cui Xuzhe's way. They all had cold faces and murderous eyes that seemed to be filled with bloodlust, facing Cui Jiyang and the others with an attitude that disregarded life and death.

They were Cui Ziqi's men, and they carried a similar amount of hostility as him.

Cui Jiyang's bodyguard was much more handsome in comparison.

They stopped in their tracks, not daring to go forward, and could only turn back to look at Cui Jiyang.

Cui Jiyang gripped the dragon head on his cane tightly, the veins on his hands trembling.

His gaze swept over Cui Xuze, who had already fainted on the ground, and the calm he had been trying so hard to maintain finally cracked a little.

He glared angrily at Cui Ziqi.

What exactly do you want?

Cui Ziqi's lips curled into a wicked and enigmatic smile. "What if I want his life?"

"You dare!" Cui Jiyang's eyes were bloodshot. "I think you really don't want that thing anymore! Do you believe I'll destroy it right now!"

Cui Ziqi's expression changed, and a red light flashed in her cool eyes.

Xia Wan sat next to him and could clearly feel the air pressure around him drop rapidly, making it almost impossible for her to breathe.

She quickly flipped through the original text again to confirm before squeezing Cui Ziqi's hand.

Smiling, she bent down and leaned close to him, whispering, "Ignore him, he wouldn't dare destroy your mother's belongings."

She was very close to Cui Ziqi, close enough to see the flicker in his pupils for a fleeting moment.

He turned his head to look at her, trying his best to remain calm, but his eyes unconsciously revealed his shock.

How did she know that the thing Cui Jiyang was threatening him with was his mother's keepsake?

Xia Wan did not want to explain now.

A soft smile curved her lips as she looked at Cui Ziqi's soft black hair in the sunlight and couldn't help but reach out and ruffle it.

"Don't move, leave it to me."

She stopped before Cui Ziqi could react.

He let go of Cui Ziqi's hand, got up, and walked towards Cui Jiyang.

Looking at Xia Wan's straight and slender back, the anger surging in Cui Ziqi's heart dissipated completely at this moment.

He straightened his hair and was about to get up, but then, as if remembering something, he leaned back in his chair, put his hands in his pockets, gripped his silver spear, and kept his eyes fixed on Xia Wan.

Xia Wan walked to Zuo Cheng's side and gestured for him to lower his head.

She covered her mouth and whispered something in Zuo Cheng's ear, and Zuo Cheng looked at her in surprise.

"Go."

Zuo Cheng glanced at Xia Wan with a conflicted expression before turning back to Cui Ziqi and whispering something to him.

Cui Ziqi looked at Xia Wan from a very short distance away.

Xia Wan still wore that bright smile on her face, and even raised her eyebrows at him with a slightly roguish air.

Cui Ziqi frowned and remained silent for a while before nodding.

Zuo Cheng left the warehouse.

Xia Wan then looked at Cui Jiyang, her smile unchanged, but a hint of coldness appeared in her eyes.

"Mr. Cui, we meet again."

Cui Jiyang was already holding back his anger towards Xia Wan, and now that anger had been amplified, he no longer maintained the respectful demeanor he had tried so hard to maintain on the ship.

"Miss Xia, don't you think it's foolish to betray the Xia family for Cui Ziqi?"

Xia Wan pointed at Cui Xuze on the ground.

"You're not exactly smart to make such a fuss over a stupid son."

Cui Jiyang's face turned ashen.

Just as he was about to speak, he was interrupted by Xia Wan's mocking voice.

"Oh, I forgot, you always claim to be a loving father in public, it's just a persona you're creating. This stupid son of yours is not even a fraction as good as Cui Ziqi. You don't even care about Cui Ziqi, let alone this good-for-nothing?"

"Don't worry, when reporters come to ask how Cui Xuzhe died, I will speak up for you. I will say that your good-for-nothing son was beaten to death for harassing a respectable woman, that you tried your best to save him but were almost killed by the murderer, and that your son was ultimately killed. You were heartbroken and fainted for three days and three nights before you recovered."

Xia Wan became more and more excited as she spoke, and finally clenched her hands in front of her chest, looking at Cui Jiyang, who was trembling with anger, with an expectant expression.

"Great! This way you not only maintain your image as a loving father, but you also get rid of a stupid son. Everyone's happy!"

"shut up!"

Cui Jiyang shouted angrily.

His bodyguard stepped forward, assuming a ready-to-attack stance.

Standing behind Xia Wan were Cui Ziqi's men, who were much calmer than Cui Jiyang and the others who were furious.

Sitting in the back, Cui Ziqi looked at the person who was noticeably shorter than him in the crowd, and the corners of his lips unconsciously turned up.
