Chapter 64 Secretary

Xia Wan held the wine bottle in her hand and smashed it towards Cui Kai's head, following the path she had anticipated.

Wine and shards splattered everywhere, but Cui Kai's momentum didn't slow down as he slashed straight at Xia Wan's face.

Just as the shards of glass were about to cut her face, the large hand covering her waist withdrew.

With a sudden burst of force, her body spun backward, her hair arcing through the air. Xia Wan's face narrowly missed the glass that Cui Kai had slashed at her, and she crashed straight into Cui Ziqi's arms.

'Snap!'

"ah!"

With Cui Kai's scream tearing a hole in the rousing music, Xia Wan looked up and only had time to see his twisted arm before Cui Ziqi kicked him away.

Cui Kai flew two meters away and landed heavily on the ground.

"Xiao Kai!"

Cui Mingrui pushed through the crowd and hurriedly helped his younger brother up.

He had lost one hand, and there was a hole on the back of his other hand that was bleeding profusely. He also had a wound on his head that was oozing blood. His face was deathly pale, his features were contorted, and he was whimpering in pain.

Even if the people around pretended to be blind, they couldn't help but notice the commotion.

The music's drumbeats were high-pitched, and the lively dance floor gradually quieted down as everyone watched what was happening.

Ignoring everyone else, Cui Ziqi lowered his head and pulled Xia Wan out of his arms, frowning as he scanned her face to see if she had been scratched by glass.

He was relieved to see that there wasn't a single wine stain on her fair face.

"Who brought you here?" Cui Ziqi frowned as he looked at her, a hint of displeasure on his face.

Xia Wan was already holding back her anger, and now that he was questioning her, her anger burst out without warning.

"How dare you ask me that! Aren't you here to work? What are you doing here, surrounded by women, having a great time!"

"I didn't touch them at all!"

Cui Ziqi maintained a straight face and defended herself.

Xia Wan wouldn't listen at all. "I saw it clearly from the second floor. That woman was practically glued to you, and you didn't push her away. Are you planning to have an affair?"

Faced with Xia Wan's unreasonable behavior, Cui Ziqi had the will to explain, but no power to do so.

His face turned purplish-blue, and after a long pause, he finally managed to utter a single sentence.

"You're the one who's the wronged one!"

Xia Wan, hands on her hips, was about to say something when Cui Ziqi looked away, his angry gaze sweeping towards the second floor.

After looking around, his gaze landed on Cui Nan on a certain platform on the second floor.

His eyes, as deep as an abyss, were now covered with a layer of icy coldness.

"I don't care what kind of apricot or grass you are, you must stay in my yard!"

She looked up at Cui Ziqi with an aggressive gaze.

The latter looked down at her with a gaze that held a hint of resentment, as if he wanted to refute her but didn't know how to begin.

The two appeared to be arguing, but to onlookers, it seemed more like they were flirting.

The music had stopped sometime earlier.

The dance floor was completely silent, except for Cui Kai's painful sobs, which floated softly in the vast venue.

Cui Mingrui's face was extremely cold, and his gaze was like that of a venomous snake as he looked at Cui Ziqi and Xia Wan.

He raised his hand, about to say something.

Dozens of bodyguards in black suits rushed in from the outside and quickly stood in front of the group.

The man standing in the middle of the bodyguards must be of a high rank. The light from the ceiling reflected off his shiny leather shoes and onto his downcast yet unobtrusive face.

"Our boss is treating everyone to dinner today. He has important business to attend to and needs to close early. We appreciate your understanding."

As the bodyguards dispersed from their games, the once bustling dance hall was reduced to just Cui Ziqi, Xia Wan, the twin brothers, and the unfamiliar man within minutes.

The unfamiliar man glanced indifferently at the injured Cui Kai, his voice calm and unwavering, "Young Master Cui Kai is seriously injured. Our boss has already contacted a medical team. Please have the Second Young Master take your brother for treatment."

Cui Mingrui wanted to support her younger brother, but dared not disobey that person's orders.

He glared angrily at Cui Ziqi, helped Cui Kai up, and left with the bodyguard.

After they left, the man turned to Cui Ziqi, and a smile finally appeared on his lips.

"Young Master Cui, this is Yu Rong. Our boss has been waiting for you for a long time."

Xia Wan stared wide-eyed at Cui Ziqi. Was he really here to work?

But she couldn't help asking, "Is the boss a man or a woman?"

A typical check-up.

Yu Rong frowned, a hint of disdain flashing in her eyes, feeling that this woman was meddling in other people's business.

“It’s a man.” At this moment, Cui Ziqi couldn’t abandon Xia Wan. He took her hand and said to her, “Come with me.”

Cui Nan, who was on the second-floor stands, had disappeared.

Cui Ziqi roughly guessed why she brought Xia Wan here, and the coldness in his eyes intensified.

Yu Rong frowned as he looked at the extra Xia Wan, wondering how likely it was that the boss would be angry if he took her along.

Before he could think it over further, Cui Ziqi urged, "Aren't you leaving yet?"

Yu Rong had no choice but to take the two of them away from the dance hall.

After passing through the empty ballroom, the group took the magnificent elevator to the third floor.

The curved corridor is covered with a soft carpet, and the intricate prints extend inwards, leading directly into a magnificent black and gold gate.

Yu Rong stepped forward and knocked on the door, which opened from the inside.

"President Fu, Young Master Cui is here."

Mr. Fu?

Who is this person?

Looking inside from the main entrance, a huge study resembling that of the British royal family comes into view.

The room was surrounded by gold, a symbol of luxury and money, and the bookshelves were filled with all sorts of porcelain and jade ornaments, but there were no books.
