“Those red lights are their signal connections!” Mu Xue lowered her voice, her sharp eyes scanning the surroundings. “If we can disrupt their signal connections, we can make them lose control!”
Upon hearing this, the team members perked up, but soon their expressions turned worried.
"But how can we get close to those red lights?" a team member asked in a low voice. "They're too fast and their attacks are very powerful."
"Someone has to distract them!" Mu Xue said decisively. "I'll disrupt the signal connection, you cover me!"
"No, it's too dangerous!" one team member immediately objected. "I'll go instead!"
"This is an order!" Mu Xue said without room for argument. "Obey orders!"
The team members wanted to say something more, but seeing Mu Xue's determined eyes, they all silently shut their mouths.
"A-Yong, you draw their attention, the rest of you follow me!" Mu Xue quickly gave the order.
Without hesitation, a burly team member rushed out, wielding a metal rod with great force, forcing back several approaching mechanical puppets.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Mu Xue led the other team members to quickly move towards the signal source.
However, there were simply too many mechanical puppets, and Ah Yong was quickly surrounded.
"Sister Mou, run! Don't worry about me!" A Yong roared, swinging the metal rod in his hand even more fiercely, forcing back the surrounding mechanical puppets, but he also suffered several deep wounds on his body.
Mu Xue's eyes reddened slightly, but she knew this was not the time to act on emotion. She had to destroy the signal connection as soon as possible, otherwise A Yong's sacrifice would be in vain.
"Cover me!" Mu Xue shouted, rushing towards the signal source without regard for her own safety.
She moved with incredible speed, her figure weaving through the mechanical puppets like a black lightning bolt.
However, the mechanical puppets' attacks became increasingly fierce, and Mu Xue gradually developed injuries.
"Almost there, almost there!" Mu Xue gritted her teeth, her eyes fixed on the signal source not far away, her heart filled with hope.
"boom!"
With a loud bang, a huge mechanical puppet appeared in front of Mu Xue, its massive metal claws slamming towards her with a whooshing sound.
"careful!"
"Sister Mou!"
...Boom! A deafening roar followed. Mu Xue barely dodged the attack of the giant metal claw, but was thrown back by the shockwave and crashed heavily to the ground. She groaned, a trickle of blood escaping from the corner of her mouth.
"Sister Mu!" The team members cried out in despair, but were powerless to help. They were tightly bound by the tidal wave of mechanical puppets, each of them was injured, and their superpowers were nearly exhausted.
"Don't worry about me! Charge towards the signal source!" Mu Xue struggled to her feet, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth, her eyes growing increasingly determined. Her superpowers were almost completely exhausted, and her entire body was wracked with excruciating pain, but she couldn't fall; she was her team's last hope.
"Cover Sister Mu!" A Yong roared, swinging his staff with all his might to smash the mechanical puppet in front of him, creating a brief passage for Mu Xue.
Seizing the opportunity, Mu Xue charged out again. Her figure darted among the mechanical puppets like a nimble swallow, constantly dodging deadly attacks. However, there were simply too many mechanical puppets, and the attacks became increasingly dense. Mu Xue sustained more and more wounds, and blood stained her clothes.
"Almost there, almost there!" Mu Xue murmured to herself. She could see the signal source not far away flashing an eerie red light, a beacon of hope and the goal she had to reach.
"Stop them! Don't let them advance another step!" A-Yong's voice was hoarse but firm. The team members formed a human wall, using their flesh and blood to block the mechanical puppets' frenzied attack. Their strength grew weaker and weaker, but their will was as firm as a rock.
Mu Xue saw it all, and it pained her deeply. She knew that every team member was risking their lives for her, paying the ultimate price for this sliver of hope.
"I will never let you down!" Mu Xue gritted her teeth, a resolute glint in her eyes. She burned her last bit of supernatural power, her speed increasing once again, turning into a blur as she rushed toward the light of hope shrouded in blood.
Finally, she approached the source of the signal. It was a metal cube, its surface shimmering with intricate patterns and radiating chilling energy fluctuations.
"Turn it off! You have to turn it off!" Despite the excruciating pain, Mu Xue rushed to the metal cube, only to find a numeric keypad and a red button on it.
"Password?" Mu Xue's heart sank, and various possibilities flashed through her mind. "Could it be..."
She took a deep breath and, with trembling hands, pressed the first number… Time ticked by, and Mu Xue’s breathing grew increasingly rapid. She tried their birthdays, the date they met, even numbers they casually mentioned, but it was all in vain. The metal cube continued to flicker with an eerie red light, as if mocking her helplessness.
"Damn it!" Mu Xue couldn't help but curse under her breath. Large beads of sweat rolled down her forehead, mixed with blood, leaving shocking marks on the metal surface.
Just then, a piercing alarm blared through the sky, and the patterns on the surface of the metal cube shone brightly, like a red star about to explode. At the same time, more mechanical puppets surged in from all directions, their eyes flashing with bloodlust, like vicious hounds from hell, ready to tear everything in their path to shreds.
"Damn it! We've been discovered!" Mu Xue's heart sank, knowing she had no way out. She glanced behind her; her teammates were still struggling, each one covered in wounds, but she knew that as long as the signal source was still operational, their sacrifice would be meaningless.
