The blinding light gradually dissipated, the device stopped operating, and the space returned to calm. Only the runes that kept flowing around Ning Yu continued to emit a faint glow.

The team members were stunned by this sudden turn of events, and none of them dared to make a move. The building shook more and more violently, and stones kept falling from above, raising clouds of dust.

Whenever the runes flashed and brightened, Ning Yu's breathing would become rapid and his heartbeat would accelerate; and when the runes dimmed, his breathing and heartbeat would weaken, as if they might stop at any moment.

Mu Xue's heart sank, and an ominous premonition surged within her. She tried to approach Ning Yu again, but was once again repelled by the power of the runes.

"Damn it!" Mu Xue couldn't help but curse under her breath.

"Shut up! Everyone, back off!" Mu Xue turned around abruptly, her sharp eyes sweeping over everyone, her tone leaving no room for argument.

The team members had never seen Mu Xue so stern. Even when facing formidable opponents, she remained calm and composed. But at this moment, the anxiety and worry in her eyes were impossible to conceal.

"But this place could collapse at any moment..." Before one of the team members could finish speaking, he was struck by a boulder falling from above. He groaned and fell heavily to the ground, his blood instantly staining the ground red.

Screams echoed through the empty space, but no one dared to approach. The building teetered on the brink of collapse, and the stones overhead seemed poised to fall at any moment, burying them alive.

"Mu Xue, did you see anything?" a team member asked anxiously, his tone filled with a hint of hope.

Mu Xue didn't answer, only staring intently at the runes, the blurry fragments of memory in her mind gradually becoming clearer… Her hand slowly reached towards the most dazzling rune on Ning Yu's chest—the location of his heart. "Heartbeat… here, it's a heartbeat!" Mu Xue's pupils constricted sharply, the words almost squeezed out between clenched teeth. She finally understood what those fragments of memory churning in her mind were! They were the legends passed down through generations of her family, about a lost ancient civilization and the mysterious power they wielded—the power of runes!
