Chapter 255 Exploring the Cave, the Perilous Journey Begins Again

The dazzling light gradually faded, and the scene deep within the cave became clearer. It wasn't some monster, but a massive metal door, inscribed with intricate patterns and exuding an ancient and mysterious aura. The previous buzzing and vibrations were caused by this door opening.

Ning Yu and Mu Xue exchanged a glance, both seeing shock and confusion in each other's eyes. When did this door appear? Where does it lead?

"Not good!" Ning Yu's expression changed. "We have to get out of here as soon as possible!" He grabbed Mu Xue's hand and turned to run out. However, at that moment, the cave entrance was suddenly blocked by an invisible force, and they were bounced back as if they had crashed into an invisible wall.

"What's going on?!" Mu Xue exclaimed in surprise, trying again to rush towards the cave entrance, but was still blocked by that invisible force. Ning Yu also tried to attack the barrier at the cave entrance with his supernatural abilities, but his attack was like a mud ox sinking into the sea, without causing a ripple.

Trapped in the cave, with no way to move forward or backward, Ning Yu and Mu Xue had no choice but to turn their gaze back to the massive metal door. Perhaps, the only way out lay behind that door.

"It seems we have no other choice." Ning Yu took a deep breath, his gaze resolute. "Let's go in and take a look."

Mu Xue took a deep breath, nodded, and followed Ning Yu slowly into the cave entrance, heading towards the mysterious metal door. As the two approached, the metal door slowly opened, emitting a dull creaking sound, as if a giant beast that had slumbered for thousands of years was awakening.

As soon as they entered the cave, a pungent odor hit them, and Mu Xue couldn't help but cough, "Cough cough... What is this smell? It's awful!"

Ning Yu also felt difficulty breathing. He immediately covered his mouth and nose with his sleeve. "Be careful, this gas may be poisonous!"

The cave was pitch black, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. Ning Yu turned on his flashlight, and a beam of light illuminated the path ahead. The cave walls were covered with strangely shaped moss and fungi, emitting a faint glow that added an eerie touch to the dark space.

They continued walking, and the path became rugged and uneven, covered with gravel. Mu Xue accidentally twisted her ankle, letting out a cry of surprise as she lost her balance.

Ning Yu reacted quickly and caught her, asking, "Are you alright?"

Mu Xue bit her lip and shook her head. "It's nothing, I just twisted it."

Ning Yu helped her walk slowly forward. The cave grew deeper and deeper, the air thinner and thinner, making it harder to breathe. All around was quiet, with only the sounds of their footsteps and breathing echoing, adding to the cave's mystique.

Suddenly, Ning Yu stopped, his gaze fixed ahead, the flashlight in his hand illuminating a wide-open area. In the center of the open space stood a massive stone platform, and on the platform rested a…

"What is that?" Mu Xue's voice trembled, her eyes filled with fear. Ning Yu didn't answer, but slowly reached for something on the stone platform... "Don't move!"

Ning Yu helped Mu Xue along, carefully avoiding the pebbles and protruding rocks on the ground, continuing deeper into the cave. The cave meandered and twisted, seemingly without end. The air grew increasingly damp, making breathing more and more difficult, as if an invisible hand was choking them. The surroundings were eerily quiet, with only the "drip-drip" sound of water droplets echoing in the silent cave, adding to the terrifying atmosphere.

Mu Xue's ankle throbbed with pain, each step feeling like walking on a knife's edge. "Ning Yu, how much longer do we have to walk?" she asked in a low voice, her voice trembling slightly.

Ning Yu tightened his grip on her hand. "Almost there, just a little longer." His gaze swept warily around them, not daring to relax for a moment. Everything in the cave was fraught with unknown dangers, and he had to remain vigilant at all times.

Suddenly, Ning Yu stopped, his gaze fixed on the cave wall ahead. In the dim light, he saw some slender black shadows slowly emerging from the wall, like venomous snakes lurking in the darkness.

"What are those?" Mu Xue also noticed the dark figures, her voice tinged with fear.

Almost simultaneously, those dark shadows shot towards them like arrows released from a bow. Ning Yu then realized that they were vines growing from the cave wall, their surfaces covered with sharp barbs that reflected a cold light in the dim light.

"Watch out!" Ning Yu shouted, shielding Mu Xue behind him. At the same time, he drew his dagger and swung it forcefully, severing several attacking vines. Thick, green liquid oozed from the severed vines, emitting a pungent, fishy odor.

However, the number of vines increased exponentially, seemingly endless, surging in from all directions and completely surrounding them. Ning Yu brandished his dagger, slashing left and right, but the vines were like a tide, wave after wave, impossible to cut off completely.

"This won't do!" Ning Yu thought to himself. He had to find a way to break through, otherwise they would eventually be entangled by these vines.

"Mu Xue, can you still fight?" Ning Yu asked.

Mu Xue gritted her teeth, "I can!" She drew a short knife from her waist and joined the battle.

The two stood back to back, struggling to fend off the vines' attacks. However, the vines were unexpectedly powerful; they nimbly wrapped around their weapons, attempting to wrest them from their grasp.

"Ah!" Mu Xue exclaimed in surprise. Her short knife was caught by the vines, flew out, and landed on the ground with a crisp sound.

Ning Yu's situation was also not optimistic. His dagger was also tightly entangled in vines, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't pull it out. He tried to tear the vines off with his hands, but the barbs on the vines pierced his wrists deeply, and blood gushed out instantly.
