Chapter 267 Tracing the Origins of the Wind, Perilous Encounters

In a flash, Ning Yu dragged Mu Xue to the side in a disheveled state, barely dodging the attack from the dark figure.

"What is that?!" Mu Xue was still in shock, her heart pounding wildly.

"I don't know, but it's definitely related to that roaring monster." Ning Yu rubbed his aching arm. The roll he had just made aggravated the wound left by the swarm of bees, and a tearing pain made him gasp.

The roar still echoed, even clearer than before, as if it were right nearby.

"Should we continue?" Mu Xue's voice trembled slightly, fear spreading through her heart.

Ning Yu took a deep breath, her gaze resolute.

"Since we're already here, we have to find out what's going on." He looked in the direction the voice came from; the gray-white mist swirled, obscuring his vision and adding to the mystery and danger.

They moved forward cautiously, taking each step with utmost care.

The roar grew louder and louder, and the ground began to tremble slightly, as if some enormous creature was approaching.

A foul, fishy stench filled the air, making one want to vomit.

Suddenly, a huge claw emerged from the thick fog, sweeping towards them with a powerful gust of wind.

Ning Yu reacted quickly, grabbing Mu Xue and the two of them awkwardly dodging again.

"Boom!" The giant claw slammed heavily onto the ground, making a loud noise, and the ground trembled violently.

"What...what kind of monster is this?!" Mu Xue's face turned pale as she stared in horror at the enormous claw that gradually emerged from the thick fog.

The claws were as black as ink, covered with hard scales that shimmered with a metallic luster and exuded a chilling sense of oppression.

Before they could react, the giant claw swung down again, this time targeting a boulder in front of them.

"Bang!" The boulder was instantly smashed to pieces, with fragments flying everywhere.

Ning Yu quickly shielded Mu Xue behind him...

Ning Yu shielded Mu Xue behind him as gravel rained down.

A piece of gravel the size of a fist slammed into Ning Yu's back, causing him to groan in pain and sway involuntarily.

At this moment, Mu Xue had no time to be afraid. She gripped the sharp bone knife she had made herself, the blade reflecting a cold light in the dim light, ready to deal with the attack to come.

The unknown creature stretched out its claws again, this time smashing a boulder in front of them to pieces, sending fragments flying and raising a cloud of dust.

"Cough cough..." Ning Yu endured the excruciating pain and waved his hand to disperse the dust in front of him.

He discovered that the creature was enormous, and in the darkness, only its two eyes, emitting a faint red glow, could be seen, like two will-o'-the-wisps, which was terrifying.

He knew that a direct confrontation was not an option, so he began to observe the surrounding environment, looking for the creature's weaknesses.

The thick fog continued to roll, obscuring most of the view, with only some strangely shaped rocks and twisted trees vaguely visible.

"Hiss..." Ning Yu gasped, the wound on his back burning with pain.

He held onto the rock face, trying to keep his balance.

"I need to think of a way..." he muttered to himself.

This monster's strength is terrifying, and its speed is not slow either; to fight it head-on would be tantamount to suicide.

Seeing Ning Yu searching for weaknesses, Mu Xue also began looking around for things she could exploit.

Thick fog blanketed the area, reducing visibility to almost zero, so she could only rely on her sense of touch to navigate.

Suddenly, her hand touched a rough texture.

"Vines?" She was delighted. In the dim light, she discovered some extremely resilient vines entwined on the ground. She then tried to collect the vines, intending to make a trap.

These vines are exceptionally tough; even a sharp bone knife requires considerable effort to cut them.

Ning Yu's gaze swept across the surrounding terrain and finally landed on a narrow passage.

“Perhaps…” His eyes lit up, and a plan gradually took shape in his mind.

He tugged at Mu Xue's sleeve, pointed to the passage, and whispered, "Go there!" His voice carried a hint of determination.

Mu Xue looked in the direction Ning Yu was pointing. The passage was narrow and deep, like the throat of a giant beast, leading to unknown dangers.

She bit her lip, nodded, gripped the bone knife tightly, and whispered, "Okay!"

Mu Xue's fingers moved nimbly among the rough vines, wrapping them up in circles, tying knots, wrapping again, and tying knots again.

In the thick fog, her focused expression resembled that of a skilled weaver, weaving the web of fate.

These vines were exceptionally tough; even her sharp bone knife required some effort to cut them, which gave her more confidence in the trap's success rate.

Just then, a deafening roar shattered the silence in the thick fog.

The creature attacked again!

Ning Yu's heart sank; he knew he had to buy time for Mu Xue.

He moved with lightning speed, weaving through boulders and twisted trees, narrowly escaping attacks from creatures.

Shards flew and dust billowed as Ning Yu's figure appeared and disappeared in the thick fog, like a nimble swallow struggling to fly through a storm.

However, the creature's speed and strength far exceeded Ning Yu's, and his stamina was rapidly depleted in the repeated evasions, causing his movements to become sluggish.

He felt like his lungs were on fire, and his breathing became increasingly rapid.

Large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, blurring his vision.

"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue's anxious voice came from the thick fog. She had finished setting up the trap and was extremely worried when she saw Ning Yu's perilous situation.

Just as Ning Yu was about to be struck by the creature's giant claw, Mu Xue shouted, "Beast! I am your opponent!" Her sharp and piercing voice successfully attracted the creature's attention.
