Chapter 30 A Burden of Fame, Undercurrents Flowing

"What's wrong, Brother Wu?" Ning Yu noticed that Brother Wu looked strange, so he asked Mu Xue to go and reserve a seat while he stayed behind to ask what was going on.

"Ning Yu, you really stole the show today." Brother Wu sighed, his tone complicated. "You've suddenly become a savior-like figure. Everyone will remember your name from now on."

Ning Yu smiled faintly and remained silent. He knew what Brother Wu wanted to say: fame doesn't only bring benefits; it can also bring a lot of trouble.

“You’re still too young and don’t understand the wickedness of people.” Brother Wu patted Ning Yu on the shoulder and said earnestly, “You are now very famous, but sometimes this fame can be a burden, or even a danger.”

"I know, Brother Wu, I'll be careful." Ning Yu nodded, indicating his understanding. He had anticipated this situation, but he hadn't expected it to happen so quickly.

"It's good that you know. There are some things I can only hint at." Brother Wu hesitated, then finally gave Ning Yu a deep look. "Be careful."

Ning Yu watched Brother Wu leave, his heart filled with mixed emotions. He understood that Brother Wu meant well, but some things couldn't be avoided simply by being careful. Strength was the foundation of one's existence; only by constantly becoming stronger could one protect oneself and those around them.

"What are you thinking about, so engrossed?" Mu Xue's voice interrupted Ning Yu's thoughts. She came over with two steaming bowls of noodles. "Come and eat, they'll get cold if you don't eat them soon."

"It's here." Ning Yu took the noodles, suppressing his unease, and ate with Mu Xue.

"By the way, what did Brother Wu say to you just now? He was so mysterious," Mu Xue asked curiously while eating.

"It's nothing, just that I should be careful and not let today's victory go to my head," Ning Yu replied vaguely, not wanting Mu Xue to worry.

"Tch, what good intentions could he possibly have?" Mu Xue curled her lip, clearly not liking Brother Wu. "I think he's just jealous of you and wants to remind you to be careful, but secretly he'd love for something to happen to you."

Ning Yu smiled but didn't reply. He knew Mu Xue was just saying it out of anger, but he had to admit that human nature is complex, and one should always be wary of others.

"What are you laughing at? Did I say something wrong?" Mu Xue asked, somewhat displeased, seeing Ning Yu's nonchalant attitude.

"No, you're right, better safe than sorry." Ning Yu's smile faded, and he said seriously, "Let's eat quickly, I have things to do after we finish eating."

Ning Yu quickly finished his noodles, then stood up, looking firmly ahead, and said, "I'm going to the training ground."

"You're still going to train so late?" Mu Xue asked, somewhat surprised.

"Yes, some things are better done sooner rather than later." Ning Yu's tone carried a hint of seriousness that was barely perceptible.

After watching Ning Yu leave, Mu Xue felt a vague unease. Brother Wu's words echoed in her ears, making her worry about Ning Yu's safety.

Ning Yu walked towards the training ground, his mind filled with thoughts. Brother Wu's words forced him to be more vigilant; he knew his current situation was not safe.

"Ning Yu, wait for me!" Brother Wu's voice came from behind.

Ning Yu stopped and looked back. He saw Brother Wu running over in a hurry, with a hint of anxiety on his face.

"What's wrong, Brother Wu?" Ning Yu asked.

“I just saw…” Brother Wu took a breath and said in a low voice, “I just saw a few people talking about you behind your back. Their eyes were strange, like… they were jealous.”

Ning Yu's heart skipped a beat, but he remained outwardly calm and said indifferently, "Oh? Is that so? What did they say?"

“They said…” Brother Wu hesitated for a moment, but still told the truth, “They said you were just lucky to awaken a powerful superpower, and that you actually have no real ability.”

Ning Yu sneered and remained silent.

"Don't take it to heart, they're just jealous of you," Brother Wu comforted him. "With your current strength, they can only look up to you."

"I know, Brother Wu, thank you for telling me all this." Ning Yu patted Brother Wu on the shoulder. "I'll be careful."

Ning Yu said he didn't care, but he became more vigilant. He knew that jealousy was a double-edged sword; it could inspire people to strive for excellence, but it could also breed resentment and even lead to irrational actions.

Over the next few days, Ning Yu began to notice some unusual things. For example, his usual training ground was sabotaged, almost causing him to get injured during training. Some people who were originally friendly to him also became cold and even intentionally or unintentionally distanced themselves from him.

All of this made Ning Yu uneasy. He knew that someone was secretly targeting him, and that their intentions were not good.

That evening, Ning Yu was practicing his supernatural abilities alone at the training ground. Suddenly, he sensed a powerful energy fluctuation coming from behind him.

He turned around abruptly and saw three dark figures standing at the entrance of the training ground. One of them held a blazing fireball in his hand, while the other two manipulated wind blades and water arrows respectively, staring at him menacingly.

"Who are you? Why are you attacking me?" Ning Yu asked in a deep voice, while secretly activating his supernatural abilities to prepare for battle.

"Hmph, Ning Yu, stop pretending!" the leading fire-type ability user sneered. "Do you think you can hide your shady dealings for long? Today, we'll act on behalf of heaven and expose your true colors!"

"Acting on behalf of Heaven? Exposing my true colors?" Ning Yu frowned, instantly understanding their intentions. "It seems someone is spreading rumors behind my back, trying to ruin my reputation?"
