Chapter 48 Superpower Evolution: Breaking Free from the Cocoon and Becoming a Butterfly

As soon as Ning Yu emerged from the vortex, an indescribable, excruciating pain shot through his body like an electric current. He groaned and collapsed to his knees. The mysterious power within him surged uncontrollably like a wild horse, causing his body to tremble violently, as if every cell was on fire.

He gritted his teeth, trying to suppress the force, but it was as unstoppable as a flood bursting its banks. He felt as if his veins were filled with molten lava, burning his nerves, his consciousness began to blur, and the world before him distorted into a blood-red hue.

“Damn it…” Ning Yu squeezed out a word through gritted teeth, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead and splashing into the ground.

Hallucinations followed one after another; he seemed to see himself being swallowed by boundless darkness, turning into a mindless monster, roaring madly in the ruins. Fear, like an invisible hand, gripped his throat, making it impossible for him to breathe.

"No... I can't let it control me..." Ning Yu endured the excruciating pain and fear, summoning a sliver of remaining reason to try and guide this raging power. He closed his eyes, recalling the scene he had seen in the energy vortex—the runes containing the mysteries of the universe, the earth-shattering yet vibrant flow of energy...

Gradually, he felt the raging energy within him calm down a bit, but the pain did not lessen at all. He felt as if his bones were being broken and then reconnected one by one, and his muscles were constantly being torn and reassembled.

"Ah..." Ning Yu couldn't help but let out a painful groan, but he still gritted his teeth and persevered. He knew that this was a test he had to go through. Only by overcoming this power could he truly master it and become the master of this wasteland.

After an unknown amount of time, the excruciating pain finally began to subside, and Ning Yu collapsed to the ground, panting heavily. He felt as if he had just escaped death, but at the same time, he also felt that the power within his body was several times stronger than before.

He slowly stood up, clenched his fist, felt the surging power within him, and a smile appeared on his lips. However, before he could even breathe a sigh of relief, a sudden change occurred…

"This feeling... is..." Ning Yu's expression changed drastically. He looked down at his chest, where an even more violent energy was gathering...

The excruciating pain was like a dull knife, repeatedly scraping and grinding against Ning Yu's bones. He felt as if his bones had turned into brittle biscuits, being constantly crushed and reformed by an invisible hand, each change bringing agonizing pain. He curled up on the ground, his clothes soaked with sweat, his teeth grinding together, but he couldn't utter a complete groan.

At the same time, the surrounding environment became increasingly turbulent due to the fluctuations in Ning Yu's supernatural power. Tiny cracks suddenly appeared out of thin air, with blue-purple lightning crackling and flashing within them. These cracks then grew larger, forming small energy storms that frantically tore at everything around them.

Ning Yu was caught in the center of this energy storm. The violent power was like countless tiny blades, cutting through his skin and muscles, even trying to burrow into his bone marrow. He struggled in agony, feeling like a small boat adrift in a raging storm, on the verge of capsizing at any moment.

"Aaaaah..." Ning Yu finally couldn't help but let out a painful roar, his voice hoarse like that of a wild beast. He felt his consciousness gradually fading, and the scene before him began to distort and deform. Was this how it was going to end?

No, he was unwilling to accept it! Ning Yu suddenly opened his eyes, his bloodshot pupils gleaming with an indomitable will. He recalled his experiences since transmigrating to this world, the people who had helped him, and the mission he had yet to complete… He could not fall, nor could he give up!

Just then, an even more intense pain shot through his chest. He looked down and saw a complex rune pattern slowly emerging, emitting an eerie red light… and within that red light, another person's face seemed to be reflected—"It's you?!" Ning Yu's eyes widened, his voice trembling, as if he had witnessed something unbelievable…

The excruciating pain continued, and Ning Yu felt his consciousness flicker like a candle in the wind, ready to be extinguished at any moment. The world before him had become blurred, leaving only boundless darkness and agony. Was he really going to collapse here?

No! He was unwilling to accept it! Ning Yu gritted his teeth, desperately trying to hold onto his last shred of consciousness. He recalled all his experiences since transmigrating to this world, from initial confusion and helplessness to gradually growing stronger and building his own power. He had endured countless life-or-death trials to finally reach this point. He still needed to find his way home, and he still needed to protect those around him. How could he fall in a place like this!

He still has a lot to do and must not give up!

A strong will to survive briefly cleared Ning Yu's mind. Yes, there must be a way! He began to recall the various methods he had used to master mysterious powers: those ancient meditation techniques, those energy manipulation techniques, those combat techniques he had learned on the brink of death... He felt like he had grabbed a straw in a vast ocean, desperately trying to grasp anything he could use.

He tried to apply these methods to the current evolutionary process, gradually guiding the raging power within him. This was an extremely dangerous process; the slightest mistake could result in a backlash from the power, but he had no other choice.

Time ticked by, and Ning Yu felt as if his body was being torn into countless pieces and then reassembled. Throughout this process, he tried and failed repeatedly, but he never gave up.
