Transmigrator Ning Yu relies on his special abilities and a system to survive on Earth after a nuclear war. He meets the older, alluring Mu Xue and confronts hypocritical ability organizations, ult...
The last rays of the setting sun gradually disappeared below the horizon, and night fell, shrouding the abandoned city in a deathly silence. Ning Yu dragged his heavy steps and finally returned to the temporary shelter.
It was just a dilapidated warehouse, drafty from all sides, but for survivors struggling on the brink of life and death, it was a rare refuge. As soon as Ning Yu entered the warehouse, he was hit by a strong stench of sweat, and his ears were filled with the sounds of snoring.
He found a relatively clean corner, put down his backpack, and let out a long sigh of relief. From yesterday until now, he had barely eaten or drunk anything, constantly struggling to survive. Now that he had finally found food, he finally felt a little comforted.
He took the cans of food out of his backpack and examined them carefully in the dim light. Although the cans were past their expiration date, the packaging was intact, and the food inside should still be edible.
"Gurgle..."
His stomach growled loudly, much to his dismay. Ning Yu licked his chapped lips, opened a can of luncheon meat, and began to wolf it down.
Exhaustion, hunger, and thirst—a mix of negative emotions left Ning Yu feeling utterly drained, both physically and mentally. He quickly finished the canned food, then curled up in a corner, preparing to rest for a while.
The warehouse was quiet, with only the soft sounds of breathing and the occasional murmur of someone in their sleep. Ning Yu closed her eyes, trying hard to fall asleep, but the thrilling scenes from the day kept replaying in her mind.
After an unknown amount of time, he finally drifted off to sleep.
Suddenly, a slight noise startled Ning Yu awake. He opened his eyes abruptly and found a dark figure standing in front of him, holding a stone in its hand.
"who?!"
Ning Yu exclaimed in surprise and immediately sprang to his feet.
"Hey kid, hand over your canned food!"
The dark figure let out a chilling laugh; it was none other than Grandpa Sun, whom they had met in the pipes earlier that day.
Grandpa Sun's chilling voice echoed in Ning Yu's ears. Before he could react, the stone whistled as it hurtled toward his head.
"Bang!"
With a muffled thud, Ning Yu felt a sudden darkness before his eyes, followed by a sharp pain in his head. Then, warm liquid flowed down his forehead. His vision turned blood red, and his ears rang.
"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath. He hadn't expected that this old guy would actually dare to attack him.
"You little brat, you dare to mess with me?!" Grandpa Sun laughed triumphantly when he saw Ning Yu get hit. He raised the stone to throw another one, but Ning Yu grabbed his wrist.
"You old bastard, you're asking for it!"
Anger burned in Ning Yu's eyes. Ignoring the injury on his head, he pushed Grandpa Sun to the ground, straddled him, and swung his fist down.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Punch after punch, Ning Yu showed no mercy, each blow fueled by his raging fury. Grandpa Sun was beaten black and blue, screaming in agony.
"Ah! Stop hitting me! Stop hitting me!" Grandpa Sun pleaded, clutching his head.
"Now you know to beg for mercy? Too late!" Ning Yu roared, his anger still burning. He wanted to continue teaching this old man a lesson.
Just then, a series of chilling roars suddenly came from outside the warehouse.
"Awooo—"
The voice was deep and terrifying, like a vicious dog from hell, sending chills down one's spine.
"What was that sound?" Grandpa Sun stopped wailing and asked in fear.
Ning Yu also stopped what he was doing. He listened intently, his expression becoming extremely solemn.
"It's a radiation-mutated dog!"
Before the words were even finished, the warehouse door was slammed open with tremendous force, and a group of mutated, radiated dogs, each larger than a calf and reeking of a foul stench, rushed in. Their eyes gleamed with an eerie green light, sharp teeth protruded, and they dripped disgusting saliva, making them look like menacing creatures.
"Ah! Help!"
Chaos erupted in the warehouse as the survivors scattered in panic, screams and cries filling the air.
"Old man, don't move if you don't want to die!" Ning Yu grabbed Grandpa Sun, who was trying to escape in the chaos, and said coldly.
"Are you crazy?!" Grandpa Sun's face turned deathly pale as he struggled desperately. "Fighting them will only lead to death. Let me go; maybe we can escape!"
"Bullshit!" Ning Yu shoved him into the corner and said coldly, "You think you can escape their noses? Don't forget, we're in this together now. If you die, I won't live either!"
Inside the warehouse, several enormous mutated dogs had begun attacking the fleeing survivors. The screams, howls, and the sounds of flesh being torn apart mingled together, creating a scene resembling a living hell.
Ning Yu took a deep breath, suppressing his fear and anger. He grabbed a steel pipe from the side, pointed at the load-bearing pillar in the center of the warehouse, and yelled at Grandpa Sun, "Go, light those tarpaulins and throw them under the pillar!"
Grandpa Sun paused for a moment, then noticed some greasy rags piled in the center of the warehouse—rags they had used to start a fire. He immediately understood Ning Yu's intention; this was...
"What are you standing there for?! If you want to live, hurry up!" Ning Yu kicked him in the butt.
Grandpa Sun dared not hesitate any longer. He scrambled to the center of the warehouse and, with trembling hands, lit the tarpaulin. Choking black smoke billowed out, accompanied by a pungent smell of gasoline.
"Hurry up and throw it!" Ning Yu was already locked in combat with a mutated dog. He used his agile footwork to dodge the mutated dog's claws, and the steel pipe in his hand slammed hard into its body, but it only made a dull sound and could not cause any fatal damage.
