Transmigrator Ning Yu relies on his special abilities and a system to survive on Earth after a nuclear war. He meets the older, alluring Mu Xue and confronts hypocritical ability organizations, ult...
The clicking sound echoed through the empty base, like the tolling of death's bell. Ning Yu's heart sank, and an ominous premonition surged within him. He looked down and saw that his feet had stepped on a metal plate whose color almost blended into the ground.
Before he could react, the ground around the metal plate suddenly cracked open, and several thick metal pillars shot violently out of the ground with a whistling sound! Ning Yu reacted extremely quickly, flipping to the side to barely dodge the attack. The sharp steel pillars almost grazed his nose, creating a gust of wind that made him feel a stinging pain on his cheek.
"Captain, watch out!" The team members hiding in the distance cried out in alarm when they saw this.
Ning Yu steadied himself and looked up. He saw that the once empty ceiling was now covered with countless holes, from which red laser beams shot out, weaving a net of death that blocked all escape routes.
"Damn it, this mechanism is way too sensitive!" one of the team members couldn't help but complain.
"Shut up, all of you! If you want to live, pull yourself together!" Ning Yu hissed, his cold gaze sweeping across the surroundings. "There are traps everywhere here, so be careful!"
The team members immediately fell silent, their expressions grave as they followed Ning Yu. They cautiously advanced along the base's dilapidated passageways, each step taken with utmost care, lest they trigger another deadly trap. The base was eerily silent, save for the heavy breathing of the team members and the occasional scraping of metal, which only added to the terrifying atmosphere.
"Wait..." Ning Yu suddenly stopped and gestured for everyone to halt. He listened intently, his brow furrowing slightly. "Did you hear anything?"
The team members immediately held their breath and listened carefully.
"Click...click...click..." A soft, rhythmic sound came from the depths of the passage, like the movement of some mechanical creature, or the sound of a countdown device, which was particularly clear in the silent base.
Ning Yu's heart tightened, a sense of foreboding washing over him. He gripped his weapon tightly and whispered, "Stay alert, let's keep going!"
The group slowly advanced along the passage, rounded a bend, and suddenly a vast, circular space appeared before them. In the center of the room were several enormous metal crates, which appeared to contain a considerable amount of supplies.
"Captain, we've found the supplies!" a team member shouted excitedly.
However, Ning Yu felt no joy. His gaze was fixed on the metal boxes and the metal lines around them that shimmered with an eerie red light, and a strange sense of crisis enveloped his heart.
"Don't move," Ning Yu's voice was low and serious, "There might be traps around these boxes..."
Before he could finish speaking, a team member rushed forward and reached out to open one of the boxes.
"Stop!" Ning Yu's pupils constricted sharply as he shouted, but it was too late...
"boom!"
With a deafening roar, flames shot into the sky! Before the team member's hand could even touch the box, a metal plate beneath his feet suddenly collapsed, and then a burst of scorching flames erupted from the metal wires around the box, instantly engulfing him!
"Xiao Li!" the other team members cried out in alarm, but there was nothing they could do.
The shockwave from the explosion swept through the entire space. Ning Yu reacted quickly, grabbing two teammates beside him and tackling them to the ground. The scorching air blasted over their heads, singeing their hair and burning their faces.
"Cough cough..." Ning Yu struggled to get up. The scene in front of him was a mess, and the choking smoke and dust filled the air, making it almost impossible for him to open his eyes.
"Captain, what do we do?" the team members asked, their voices trembling with fear.
“Don’t panic, this trap is only sensitive to changes in weight,” Ning Yu forced himself to calm down and analyzed, “As long as we don’t touch the ground, we can avoid the trap.”
After saying that, he activated his supernatural power, and an invisible energy field spread out from his body, enveloping him and several team members.
"Follow me, and be careful!" Ning Yu shouted in a low voice, taking the lead towards the metal boxes. He walked with extreme caution, trying his best not to touch anything on the ground.
However, just as he was about to touch one of the boxes, an accident occurred!
His superpower suddenly became slightly disordered, and his energy field fluctuated. His body, which had been floating in mid-air, fell to the ground for a moment!
"Oh no!" Ning Yu cried out inwardly, but it was too late.
"Click...click..."
The chilling sound echoed through the room again, and the red light around the metal box became even brighter, as if it would explode at any moment!
"Get out of the way!" Ning Yu shouted, while simultaneously activating his supernatural power again, raising the energy field to its maximum in an attempt to prevent the trap from activating.
However, this time, the trap was activated faster and more violently than before!
"Boom boom boom!"
A series of explosions echoed through the room, with metal fragments and flames flying everywhere, like a scene from hell.
Ning Yu did his best to maintain the energy field and block the power of the explosion as much as possible, but several team members were still unable to dodge in time and were blown away by the shock wave, crashing heavily against the wall and groaning in pain.
"Cough cough... Damn it, why is this trap getting more and more powerful?" Ning Yu's face was pale, and a trace of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.
"Captain, look!" a team member shouted in terror, pointing to the center of the room.
