Chapter 69 The Journey Resumes, Challenges Return

As the last rays of the setting sun gradually faded and night fell, the wilderness was shrouded in deep darkness.

Back at the outpost, the simple gate looked particularly heavy in the night. The gate slowly opened, and the headlights of the convoy pierced the darkness, illuminating the interior of the outpost.

"The captain is back!"

"Quickly! Carry the wounded to the medical ward!"

A stir ran through the crowd, but their tired faces couldn't hide their excitement. Ning Yu stepped out of the car, nodded slightly to the team members who had come to greet him, and ordered in a deep voice, "Zhou Qiang, arrange for people to unload the supplies and take stock of the wounded. The rest of you, get some rest and recharge. There's a lot to do tomorrow!"

"yes!"

The brief and forceful command swiftly mobilized the previously somewhat disorganized team. Ning Yu looked at the orderly group, a relieved smile appearing on his tired face. He turned and walked towards the SUV, gently knocking on the window.

The car window slowly rolled down, revealing an exquisitely beautiful face. Mu Xue leaned back lazily in her seat, looking at him with a half-smile: "What? You don't want me to rest for a bit?"

"How could that be? I was just worried you'd be starving," Ning Yu said with a smile, handing her a compressed biscuit. "Have something to eat first, and I'll cook you something delicious when we get back."

"That's more like it." Mu Xue took the cookie, took a small bite, and a sly glint flashed in her eyes. "So, what did you get this time?"

“The harvest is certainly plentiful,” Ning Yu gestured for her to look at the convoy returning with its full load behind them, “enough to sustain us for a while.”

Over the next few days, the entire base was bustling with activity. Injured team members received timely treatment, and fortifications were being repaired with everyone working overtime. Ning Yu distributed rare items he had brought back from the ruins—items that could enhance abilities—to team members with potential, significantly improving their strength and boosting their morale.

"Captain, when are we going to take action again?" a team member asked excitedly, his eyes full of anticipation.

"Yeah, Captain, we can't wait to get started!" the other team members chimed in.

Looking at his spirited team members, Ning Yu's eyes flashed with a sharp light. He knew that their team was no longer what it used to be, and now possessed the strength to contend with other forces. And he would lead this team to create their own world in this wasteland.

“Wait a little longer,” Ning Yu said, casting his gaze into the distance, towards the direction where other forces were entrenched. “Soon, a new opportunity will arise…”

Ning Yu's rise to power was like a fire, quickly igniting the fear and apprehension of other forces in this desolate land. Especially those powerful forces that had entrenched themselves in one area, watching Ning Yu's once unknown team gradually gain momentum, felt a mix of emotions, and various rumors began to circulate in the shadows.

"Have you heard? That kid Ning Yu got his hands on a batch of supplies from somewhere, and now he's rolling in money!" In the tavern, a few burly men sat together, and one of them lowered his voice and said mysteriously.

"Hmph, I bet they stole it! I heard they went to H City a while ago, which is 'Black Snake's' territory. Who would believe they could get away unscathed without some dirty stuff?" Another man with a face full of scars sneered, his tone full of disdain.

"That's right! Everyone knows that 'Black Snake' has suffered heavy losses. I think Ning Yu is definitely involved in this!"

Similar rumors spread and fermented in every corner, and Ning Yu's team's reputation was unknowingly shrouded in a shadow.

That day, a leader of a small faction who called himself "Falcon" swaggered over to Ning Yu's stronghold with a dozen or so men.

"I heard Captain Ning has had quite a haul lately. Our 'Falcon' team is limited in strength and resources. How about we share some with them?" The leading man was short but deliberately assertive, his words full of provocation.

Ning Yu stood at the entrance of the stronghold, his sharp gaze sweeping over the group of people before him, a cold smile playing on his lips. He naturally knew that "Falcon" was just an unknown nobody, and that someone was definitely behind him.

“I appreciate everyone’s kindness, but our team also needs to rest and recuperate, I’m afraid…” Ning Yu deliberately dragged out his words, his tone tinged with amusement.

Before he could finish speaking, someone from the opposing "Falcon" team shouted, "Ning Yu, don't be so stubborn! Our boss is trying to reason with you, don't push your luck!"

"That's right, if you know what's good for you, hand over the stuff right away, or else..."

"What are you trying to avoid?" Ning Yu took a step forward, his powerful aura silencing the shouting. He surveyed his surroundings, his gaze sharp as a hawk's. "My things, Ning Yu's things, are not for just anyone to covet!" Ning Yu glanced contemptuously at the shouting people in front of him, his smile growing colder. "I'd like to see what you've got that makes me 'know what's good for me'."

"You won't listen to reason, so you'll have to suffer the consequences!" The leader of "Falcon" immediately changed his expression, and waved his hand, "Attack! Seize the spoils!"

A dozen or so "Falcon" team members charged toward Ning Yu's stronghold with shouts, but were bounced back by an invisible barrier a few meters away from the gate, and fell flat on their faces.

"A superpower! It's a protective shield!" someone exclaimed.

The superhumans in Ning Yu's team were equally formidable, unleashing a variety of abilities. Fireballs, ice spikes, and vines intertwined in the air, creating a chaotic scene.

Seeing the situation was unfavorable and knowing that a direct confrontation would not yield any advantage, the leader of "Falcon" immediately changed tactics and ordered a retreat. Ning Yu did not order a pursuit, but coldly watched their hastily fleeing figures, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

"Boss, are we just going to let it go like this?" one of the "Falcon" team members asked unwillingly.
