Transmigrator Ning Yu relies on his special abilities and a system to survive on Earth after a nuclear war. He meets the older, alluring Mu Xue and confronts hypocritical ability organizations, ult...
"Oh no! This is... fragments of an electromagnetic pulse bomb!" Ning Yu's expression changed drastically. Before he could finish speaking, a deafening explosion came from behind him, and a visible shockwave spread rapidly outwards from the point of explosion. Ning Yu felt a sudden darkness before his eyes, and his body was uncontrollably thrown back, crashing heavily onto the sand several meters away.
After the shockwave of the explosion subsided, the communicator was filled with a cacophony of static, drowning out all calls. Ning Yu struggled to his feet, ignoring the waves of pain coursing through his body, and anxiously called out the names of his teammates, but all he received in response was the howling wind and the intermittent gunfire in the distance.
"Captain! Captain! Are you alright?" A faint voice finally came through the communicator; it was Li Mo, the sniper in the team.
"I'm still alive. How are you? Has anyone else responded?" Ning Yu said, enduring the pain as he checked his body. His left arm had been cut open by shrapnel, and blood stained half of his sleeve.
“Our situation isn’t good. The enemy seems to have been prepared. They’ve launched a full-scale attack on us under the cover of the explosions. Our defensive perimeter is being compressed to the area around the boulder, and…” Li Mo’s voice was hesitant.
"And what? Tell me quickly!" Ning Yu's heart tightened; he realized the situation was worse than he had imagined.
“Some of our food and water were destroyed in the explosion, and now we only have less than half of our supplies left,” Li Mo said, his voice tinged with despair.
Ning Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He knew this wasn't the time to despair; he had to find a way to turn the tide, or he and his team would perish in this desolate desert. "Li Mo, keep the communication going and try to buy some time. I'm coming back to support you immediately!"
Without further hesitation, Ning Yu switched his assault rifle to automatic mode and charged towards the direction of the most intense gunfire. He knew that the enemy commander must be there, and if he could take him out, he could completely thwart the enemy's offensive.
He moved like a cheetah through the sand dunes, constantly dodging enemy bullets with his superb combat skills and familiarity with the terrain, closing in on his target. However, the enemy seemed to have anticipated his actions, setting up numerous traps along his path.
"Damn it!" Ning Yu couldn't dodge in time, his foot slipped, and he fell into a carefully disguised sand pit. Sharp wooden splinters pierced his thigh, and the intense pain made him groan.
Before he could even get up, he heard a cold voice from above: "Ning Yu, you didn't expect this, did you? We'd be waiting for you here."
Ning Yu looked up and saw a man in black combat gear with a ferocious smile on his face standing at the edge of the sandpit, holding a gleaming dagger in his hand, walking towards him step by step...
"Captain!" Li Mo's heart-wrenching cry came through the communicator, followed by even more intense gunfire. Ning Yu knew that his team members had fallen into an even more dangerous situation in their attempt to save him.
"Don't come any closer! Protect yourselves!" Ning Yu shouted hoarsely, but he knew that under the enemy's fierce firepower, his voice could not reach his teammates at all.
Despair washed over him like a tidal wave, but Ning Yu gritted his teeth, struggling to stay conscious. He couldn't give up like this; he had to survive, he had to lead his team out of this place alive!
"Ning Yu, give up resisting. You have nowhere to escape." The man standing at the edge of the sandpit sneered, the dagger in his hand gleaming coldly. "Your men will soon be joining you, hahaha..."
Ning Yu ignored the man's taunts and focused his gaze on the ground beneath his feet. During the struggle, he sensed something unusual about the sand beneath his feet; unlike normal sand, it wasn't soft but rather felt hard.
Could it be...?
A bold idea flashed through Ning Yu's mind. He closed his eyes, concentrated his mind, and mobilized the few supernatural abilities within him to probe the ground beneath his feet.
"This is..." Ning Yu's face showed a shocked expression. He sensed a faint energy fluctuation. This energy fluctuation was very hidden. If he did not have a special ability, he would not have been able to detect it at all.
He opened his eyes and carefully observed the ground beneath his feet, finally discovering a clue. At the bottom of the sandpit, there was an inconspicuous metal plate, its edges perfectly blending into the sand; without careful observation, it would be impossible to spot.
Ning Yu took a deep breath, enduring the excruciating pain, and used all his strength to move his body next to the metal plate. He stretched out his right hand and pressed it against the metal plate, feeling a cool sensation from his fingertips.
"As expected..." Ning Yu's lips curled into a cold smile. He pressed down hard on the metal plate, and with a soft "click," the metal plate dented downwards, revealing a dark hole.
"What do you want to do?" The man standing at the edge of the sandpit noticed Ning Yu's actions, and his expression changed instantly. He seemed to realize something, and a look of panic flashed in his eyes. He raised the dagger in his hand and stabbed at Ning Yu.
"Goodbye!" Ning Yu ignored the man's attack, grabbed the edge of the cave entrance, and leaped into the dark cave.
"Chase him! Don't let him get away!" the man shouted angrily, but the only response he received was Ning Yu's last words:
"Too late..."
The fall was shorter than Ning Yu had expected; he landed heavily on a pile of soft debris, which absorbed most of the impact. Ignoring the pain, Ning Yu immediately got up and looked around in the dim light. It was a narrow passage, filled with dampness and a musty smell. At the end of the passage, a light flickered faintly.
