Chapter 11 The Courtyard House I've Always Dreamed Of

Lu Feng appeared at the Lin family's gate early in the morning, carrying breakfast and gifts.

He Yumei smiled and asked, "Why are you here so early?"

“I’m here to bring breakfast. It was made by the housekeeper. I remember you said before that Wanwan likes to eat xiaolongbao. The housekeeper is from Suzhou and she makes soup dumplings at home, so I brought some over,” Lu Feng explained to her. “Auntie, please don’t mind me bothering you.”

“How could that be? Come in quickly,” He Yumei led him into the house.

"You go in and sit down first. I'll go wake this girl; she's still asleep," He Yumei said, turning to walk into the house.

Lu Feng stopped her and said, "Auntie, let me go. I brought her a gift," pointing to the bag in his hand.

He Yumei, thinking that the two were getting married tomorrow, didn't stop them. "Then go ahead. This girl is a heavy sleeper. Wait a minute, I'll go get the key. If you don't go in and call her, she won't pay any attention to you even if you stand outside the door for half an hour."

He Yumei took the key, opened the door, and let Lu Feng in.

Lu Feng glanced at the furnishings in the room. Lin Wanwan was in the inner room, the door was open, but there was a very delicate little screen at the entrance.

Lu Feng stood behind the small screen and called to her to get up. Lin Wanwan turned over in the room and continued to sleep. "Dad, I'm going to sleep a little longer. I was reading until 2 a.m. last night."

Lin Wanwan's voice was muffled, probably because she was speaking with her head covered.

Lu Feng said from the doorway, "If you don't get up, I'm coming in."

Seeing that no one answered, Lu Feng walked straight in. "I'm coming in?"

When Lu Feng went in, he saw Lin Wanwan lying face down on the quilt with her face turned to one side, drooling. Lu Feng couldn't help but chuckle softly, "Drooling? Get up! Didn't you want to go see the courtyard house? If you don't get up, I'll sell the house!"

When Lin Wanwan heard that he wanted to sell it, she immediately glared at him, all sleepiness gone. "You dare?!"

"Then get up quickly," Lu Feng pinched her cheek and pointed to the bag by the bed. "This is for you. My mom had a tailor she knows make it last night. She said you would like it, so I went to get it first thing this morning."

Lin Wanwan rubbed her cheek, which he had pinched so hard, and sat up. "A cheongsam?"

Lu Feng raised an eyebrow. "So easy to guess?"

Lin Wanwan shrugged. "I'm smart." She took out the cheongsam from the paper bag. She liked the color immediately. It was a milky green, a light green that looked very comfortable. It had a double round collar and a slightly oversized sleeve. Lin Wanwan didn't really understand the style.

The buttons on the collar and the diagonal placket were very special, and a small pearl was also attached to them. A row of small pearls was also sewn along the side. Lin Wanwan had loved pearls in her previous life, but she did not know the value of pearls when she was young and mistook them for weeds.

"It really is beautiful, the pearls are gorgeous, and the colors are lovely," Lin Wanwan said, touching it with obvious affection.

Lu Feng was happy to see that she liked it. "I described the style of the cheongsam you wore yesterday to the craftsman, and this is how it turned out. I'm glad you like it."

Lin Wanwan got up from the bed and said to Lu Feng, "Go to the outer room, I need to change my clothes."

Lu Feng nodded and went out, standing outside the screen to wait for her to change her clothes. Lin Wanwan, taking advantage of the screen in the room, didn't bother to close the door.

Lu Feng stared blankly at her back through the screen, wondering if she was too trusting of him, not even closing the door.

"Aren't you too trusting of me? You didn't even lock the door?" Lu Feng asked unconsciously.

Lu Feng stopped abruptly when he saw the figure behind the screen, and then heard the person inside say, "Anyway, you're getting married tomorrow, Lu Feng, you can't be that beastly, can you?"

Lin Wanwan came out after getting dressed. "Does it look good?"

"It looks great, it makes your skin look even whiter, you're especially beautiful," Lu Feng praised without reservation.

"Thank you, you have good taste too," Lin Wanwan said with a smile. Lin Rui casually tied her hair up and was about to go out to wash up.

"I'll get you some water, you can do your hair," Lu Feng said, and without waiting for her reply, he went out to get the water. Lu Feng thought it was just a basin of water, nothing serious.

However, Mr. and Mrs. Lin in the main house were a little surprised. He Yumei whispered to her husband, "Lu Feng seems to be fetching water for your daughter to wash her face. Should I go and stop him?"

Lin Jianbang said in a deep voice, "Why stop them from getting a basin of water? They're going to live together in the future. Do you want your daughter to serve someone who can be waited on hand and foot every day?"

He Yumei thought about it and realized that it made sense, so she stopped worrying about it.

After tidying up, Lin Wanwan even put on some light makeup before turning to the wardrobe to find something.

Seeing that she had been searching for a long time without finding it, Ren Xunyang asked her, "What are you looking for? Do you want me to help you look?"

"I remember my mom bought me a small bag before. I wanted to put my lipstick, a small mirror, and a handkerchief in it, but I can't find it. Lu Feng, could you go and ask my mom for me? Just tell her I can't find the little leather bag she bought for me," Lin Wanwan said without any politeness. They were going to get married and live together, so why be polite?

Lu Feng nodded and went out. A little while later, Lin's mother followed him. "You silly girl, not only did you not pack, but you also have a bad memory. Didn't you say you didn't like that bag before? You left it with me. It's not a small leather bag, it's a buckle bag that I bought to match your cheongsam. It's not a small leather bag."

"Oh? I must have misremembered. I just remember there was a small bag. Lu Feng took me out to play this afternoon, and I wanted to pack some things in it. Mom, can you find it for me?" Lin Wanwan hugged her and acted coquettishly.

He Yumei was at her wits' end. "Oh dear, let go of me now. Aren't you afraid Lu Feng will laugh at you?"

"Why are you laughing at me? Why are you making fun of me when I'm being affectionate with my own mother?" Lin Wanwan persisted.

"How can I get it for you if you don't let go? Do you even want to go out?" He Yumei said helplessly. Lin Wanwan only let go after hearing her say that.
