Thirsty
"Knock knock knock," the regular knocking on the door interrupted Yan Chan's actions. Both of them were stunned for a moment and looked towards the door.
Yan Chan propped up her upper body, raised her sleeve to wipe the corner of her mouth, "Don't make a sound, I'll go and take a look." She whispered, then pulled off the soft cloth hanging on her body and stuffed it into the water outlet.
She was still thirsty, and Yan Chan didn't want all the water here to flow away before she came back.
Upon hearing this, Guan Zheng covered her mouth, nodded twice, and looked in the direction Yan Chan left.
She couldn't control the water. After it was blocked, it stopped flowing out and only soaked the cloth a little.
She pulled another piece of clothing over herself, trying to steady her breathing. She covered her pounding chest, which felt a little itchy.
With a creak, Yan Chan opened the door halfway and asked, "What's going on?"
Her brows relaxed, and her hand holding the door loosened and fell behind her.
"I...um, did I use incense? You smell so good." Shi Guiyi changed the subject, and a faint fragrance floated from Yan Chan's body and ran to her through the open door.
Yan Chan didn't expect her to say this. He paused for two seconds before replying her, but his speech speed was a little faster as if he was covering up something.
"Is it convenient for us to go in and talk?" Shi Guiyi did not become suspicious after hearing Yan Chan's words, but there was a hint of worry between her brows.
Yan Chan looked in the direction of Guan Zheng and said hurriedly: "Let's go out and talk, and by the way..." After that, she took Shi Guiyi away from this place.
Guan Zheng heard the door slam shut with a creak, and she covered her lower abdomen with her hands. She was still feeling uncomfortable.
Guan Zheng forced herself to walk down, her limbs so weak that she almost fell to her knees. She held onto the chair for support with her hands and moved towards the window little by little.
She didn't open the window completely, but just opened a crack. After all, the nights in Fengdu Ghost Market were still cold.
Even so, Guan Zheng couldn't help but shudder, and she subconsciously pulled together the only outer robe she was wearing.
There is no wind tonight, but the cool air still slowly seeps into the room.
Guan Zheng picked up the scissors and cut the unstable candle wick, then picked up a candlestick and sat down at the table. As soon as she sat down, she immediately stood up again.
She looked down, and her face flushed again.
Raising her hand and turning the chair, Guan Zheng knelt on one leg for support and picked up the bronze mirror that she had knocked over with her own hands.
She leaned over and, using the dim candlelight, placed her fingertips on her collarbone. It was okay above, it would probably disappear by tomorrow, but below...
Never mind, I have clothes to cover it anyway.
Guan Zheng thought Yan Chan would be back soon, so she lay on the bed waiting for her. However, the candle that had been burning for a while was only half lit, and Guan Zheng still hadn't seen Yan Chan.
What are they talking about?
Did he forget that he was waiting for her?
Guan Zheng felt a tingling sensation in her heart. She got up to wash up in a huff, then wiped her body with a hot cloth.
She deliberately let the hot cloth covering her face stay on it for a while longer, put her palm on the cloth that was soaked with coolness, and pulled a corner of it to tear it away.
The laces at the bottom hooked her legs. Guan Zheng looked at the fabric of her clothes, hesitating whether to pull it off.
Yan Chan, who had stuffed the cloth with his own hands, was now sitting opposite Shi Guiyi in a corner of a teahouse.
After walking all the way, the fragrance on Yan Chan's body had been blown away, leaving only her unique jasmine scent.
Yan Chan picked up the chopsticks and drew circles on the bottom of the bowl. The tea stirred by the chopsticks jumped out of the edge of the bowl several times.
She was thirsty, but Yanchan didn't want to drink this.
The tea tasted clear and bitter, nothing like the sweetness she had just drunk.
"Wu Chunlai has changed a bit recently. He has been missing most of the time. Also, I found this in Qianmi Pavilion yesterday." Shi Guiyi took out a rolled-up piece of paper from his sleeve and handed it to Yan Chan.
"I only trust you now," she added.
Yan Chan paused while pulling the thin hemp rope on the paper, and looked up at Shi Guiyi in confusion, not understanding why she said that.
Shi Guiyi's friendship with her is not as deep as that with Guan Zheng.
Why do you only believe her?
Yan Chan looked into Shi Guiyi's eyes, and for a moment she seemed to have returned to the time in Bushi Pond.
Yan Chan pursed her lips, asked nothing and said nothing, just pretending that she knew nothing.
She lowered her head and continued to untie the thin hemp rope. With just three or two strokes, her fingers brushed away the rolled-up paper.
Yan Chan was reading the words above, and the thin hemp rope she had thrown next to the tea bowl was hooked by Shi Guiyi's fingers.
It wrapped around her index finger in circles.
"Reward...Wu Chunlai!" Yan Chan looked at the reward amount, wow, one thousand gold.
She twitched her lips, thinking, is he really worthy of being the male lead? He even has a bounty on his head in this haunted place, Fengdu Ghost Market.
There are so many troubles around the male and female protagonists...
But the amount is a little too little, only one thousand gold. The person who posted the reward is really stingy.
Is Wuchunlai so worthless?
Yan Chan touched the corner of his mouth and read the bounty order again from beginning to end.
The portrait above is quite lifelike, but most of the people in Fengdu Ghost Market have their faces covered, so even if there were portraits, it would be very difficult to find them. After all, who would take the initiative to take off their masks?
Although Wu Chunlai only wore half a mask, with just his chin...
Wu Chunlai is still safe.
Yan Chan said what he was thinking, but instead he was concerned about the first half of Shi Guiyi's words, saying: "What's so strange about him?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Shi Guiyi grasped Yan Chan's hand, which was draped on the table, and said with a gleaming look of worry, "The way he looks at me... makes me feel a little scared."
Yan Chan was startled and withdrew his hand calmly.
Shi Guiyi's index finger, wrapped in the string, curled up for a moment. She looked at Yan Chan's withdrawn hand, feeling lost for a moment before continuing, "You know, he used to be a bit arrogant, but now... I can't read the emotion in Wu Chunlai's eyes; it's too complicated."
Shi Guiyi really wanted to say bluntly that Wu Chunlai was simply arrogant in the past, but he still gave him some face.
Yan Chan supported his head and nodded at the tea in the bowl, wondering if it was because of the dagger.
No...it seems like something was different before this.
She was only one step away from the truth, but was defeated by illusion.
From Yan Chan's perspective, the dagger seemed to be inside Wu Chunlai's body, and Gao Tinghan was trying to help him pull it out...
But he finally let go.
Can a dagger really change a person?
Yan Chan suddenly felt a little overwhelmed. This was a fantasy world, so it was not surprising that such a thing happened.
Yan Chan sighed again, if only she knew the plot of "The Return of the Crow", she wouldn't have to worry about this and that.
Not long after Guan Zheng closed the window, she heard the sound of the door being pushed open, followed by two "clicks", which were the sounds of the door being locked.
She didn't say anything and lay outside feeling a little depressed.
"I'm back." Yan Chan smiled and lifted the curtain, leaning half of her body in.
Guan Zheng didn't respond and turned her back to Yan Chan.
If Yan Chan hadn't seen Guan Zheng move, she would have thought she had fallen asleep long ago.
Yan Chan sat down and shook Guan Zheng's shoulders.
"You still remember to come back," she glared at Yan Chan, but it didn't have any deterrent effect, instead it seemed like she was acting coquettishly.
"Well... this is my bed, of course I have to come back." Yan Chan lifted the quilt, looked down, raised his eyebrows, and said, "I thought you had already taken it out."
"You...!" Guan Zheng pushed her away in shame and anger, and turned over to lie on her stomach.
She had been waiting for Yan Chan, but she didn't expect Yan Chan to say such words after coming back.
Yan Chan smiled slightly, put her arm through Guan Zheng's legs, picked her up horizontally and moved her to the inside.
"I'll help you get it." He pinched Guan Zheng's shoulder and kissed her cheek with a smile in his eyes.
"!!" Guan Zheng widened her eyes and turned to look at this big liar. They said they would take it out, so why did he push it in further?
"Where are you putting your hands?"
"Of course I put it where it should be." Yan Chan replied innocently, trying her best to restrain the corners of her mouth from rising.
"It's cold." Guan Zheng grabbed her wrist and tried to push her away.
"Then warm me up." After saying that, he used his palms to absorb the heat from Guan Zheng's body more vigorously.
Guan Zheng neither agreed nor refused. She held Yan Chan's face with both hands, forcing her eyes to look at her, and said, "What did you two talk about?"
"Jealous," Yan Chan's eyes rolled, and a bad idea came to her mind again, "Kiss me, and I'll tell you."
Guan Zheng snorted, she was not jealous.
She folded her arms around her chest, pursed her lips, and turned her head to kiss him.
Guan Zheng cried out softly, and the cloth was pulled out without warning. She subconsciously clamped her legs together.
"Why didn't you say anything?" she said with some complaint.
"If I tell you, you won't be like this anymore." Isn't it the most exciting to be caught off guard like this? Yan Chan massaged her for a while.
Guan Zheng's consciousness was a little hazy again. She uttered a complete sentence intermittently, "You haven't said it yet...what are you talking about."
She lowered her head and looked at Yan Chan's hand, her fingers gradually clenching the clothes at her arm.
Some are too fast.
"What did we talk about? Of course we talked about everything." Yan Chan continued to talk about random things, saying all kinds of nonsense.
"I'm so thirsty. My mouth is dry from talking so much."
"My lady, please have pity on me and give me some water to quench my thirst."
After saying that, she pulled Guan Zheng's fingers and placed them on the corner of her lips. It didn't feel dry at all, but very moist.
Yan Chan kissed from her fingertips to her wrist, and stayed in her palm for a while.
This is really a bit dry.
His lustful peach blossom eyes met Guan Zheng's, and he moved closer and closer to her, kissing her lips that were soaked with bitter tea.
Guan Zheng took several deep breaths, pressing her lips against his. She tilted her head slightly, and her eyes, which were originally open, slowly closed. The bitter taste of the tea flowed into her mouth, and was soon replaced by the scent of jasmine.
