After Transmigrating into a Farmhouse Coddle, I Led My Whole Family to Get Rich

Yun Ling, who had been surviving in the apocalypse, accidentally transmigrated into the youngest daughter of the ancient Yun family. The family had few men, with only her father and crippled grandp...

Chapter 500: The Grand Finale (Part 2)

Yunling blushed at the praise, and she immediately sat up and said:

"You two, don't be so lovey-dovey. We're family, there's no need for thanks. Women have it tough enough as it is, and if we're not doing anything wrong, we should support and help each other."

"Furthermore, our family has long been criticized. They all think we are a waste of money and a disgrace. But what's wrong with us women? We can hold up half the sky and are no less capable than men. Haven't we done that now?"

Yun Ruochun also sat up. She had received the praise of being "no less capable than men" when she was commended that day, and now, combined with Yun Ling's words, she felt quite moved.

“I agree with that. We women are no less capable than men. We should do better and better, and let the world know that we women can also stay at home and manage household chores, compete in the business world, and contribute to protecting our country.”

Yun Ruoxia sat up with a swift movement and said:

"If my business succeeds, I will also hire some female apprentices."

"I also want to teach some women to be doctors."

"Where is Ling-jie? What is Ling-jie doing?"

Yunling hadn't expected the topic to shift to her so quickly, and shrugged, saying:

"I just grow all sorts of medicinal herbs and plants."

Yun Ruochun asked with some doubt:

"Planting medicinal herbs?"

Yun Chu immediately sat up and said seriously:

"Don't be fooled by Ling'er's planting of medicinal herbs and such. The ones she grows are all rare, things we don't have locally. Doctor Sun even said that what she grows are all good things, and their medicinal effects might be even better. Moreover, things are valued for their rarity, so the price she sells for is estimated to be double."

Yun Chu is right. Even if no one buys them for a while, the things she grows won't die or wither. They will just keep absorbing energy, doubling their medicinal effects. One plant might be as effective as two, three, or even ten.

Yun Ruoxia's eyes immediately lit up.

"Great, Sister Ling, if you have this kind of business opportunity, won't you give me a heads-up?"

Yunling didn't reply to her, and simply lay down pretending to be asleep. The other three looked at each other and then tickled her together. Yunling struggled hard, and the four of them laughed and played around until the middle of the night.

**

On the eighth day of the fourth lunar month, Yunling was shaken awake to get ready, barely able to open her eyes. She was completely dazed throughout the process, unaware of the great effort Chen Jie and Gangzi had put in to stop them, or how readily Song Xiaoliulang distributed the paper money.

In short, she only became more sober when she got into the bridal sedan chair and it started to sway, at which point she was asked to give out money as a wedding gift.

"Take it, take it, but don't let it interfere with our lady's auspicious time."

As soon as Tang Ling finished speaking, the bridal sedan chair began to sway and bump along the road. Yun Ling didn't know how much time had passed, but when the sedan chair stopped, she knew that they had arrived at the Lu family.

Today, the area outside the Lu family mansion was packed with onlookers. Yunling slightly parted her face-covering fan and lifted a corner of the curtain, revealing a man holding a bucket and muttering something. He then threw the contents of the bucket at the door, causing a group of children to scramble for it.

Yunling was finding it amusing when she heard Tang Ling outside the bridal sedan chair give a hint:

"Madam, it's time to get out of the sedan chair."

The curtain of the bridal sedan chair was lifted, and Yunling quickly straightened her fan. Then she saw a mirror, which led her step by step forward, over a saddle, past a small pile of grass and a scale, and finally to sit on the bed.

Yunling breathed a sigh of relief. She opened the fan but couldn't see Lu Yinghuai. Just as she was wondering what was going on, she heard a lively commotion outside, along with Zhang's laughter. Yunling could imagine Zhang's beaming face.

A short while later, Lu Yinghuai walked in, followed by a large group of people. Yunling quickly arranged her fan and peeked out, only able to see Lu Yinghuai's shoes.

"The bride and groom are holding handkerchiefs and paying respects to their ancestors."

Yunling took the handkerchief handed to her by the matchmaker and let Lu Yinghuai lead her outside. Along the way, Lu Yinghuai walked backwards, and it was during this time that she secretly glanced at him.

The sun was shining exceptionally brightly today, illuminating Lu Yinghuai, who was dressed in red. At first glance, Yunling was reminded of the first time they met on the street. When Lu Yinghuai saw Yunling stealing glances at him, the corners of his mouth turned up straight up, making him even more handsome.

After paying respects to their ancestors, the couple returned to their new home. As the matchmaker announced, "Husband and wife bow to each other," they eagerly rushed to bow to one another. In their haste, they bumped heads, causing laughter from everyone present.

"Alright, let's set up the tent."

Yunling hadn't yet understood the meaning of this "scattering of the tent" when coins, silk flowers, fruit, and other such things were thrown at her and Lu Yinghuai. Then, the matchmaker stepped forward with scissors and cut a strand of hair from each of their heads, saying:

"May you and your husband be united in marriage, living in harmony and growing old together."

Then he produced two wine cups tied together with colorful ribbons, filled with wine, and said:

"After drinking the nuptial wine, we are intertwined, may we have a son soon and many happy events follow."

Yunling glanced at Lu Yinghuai and saw that he was secretly enjoying himself, so she didn't hand him the wine cup.

Lu Yinghuai immediately sensed something was wrong and quickly looked at Yun Ling, whispering:

"Madam, please spare me this time. You can do whatever you want with me tonight."

Although the words were spoken softly, everyone present had sharp ears. Upon hearing them, they jostled and cheered. Yunling immediately blushed and dared not cause any more trouble. She quickly exchanged wine glasses with Lu Yinghuai.

"The ceremony is complete!"

As soon as he finished speaking, another round of cheering erupted. Lu Yinghuai was surrounded and forced to go outside to be given drinks. He didn't know how much he was given, and when he returned to the bridal chamber, he almost thought he was completely drunk.
