Chapter 124 Returning Back to Mia's Parents' Laboratory...
Mia's parents' laboratory was in a very dilapidated village.
After getting off the bus, looking at the dilapidated village, Toya frowned subconsciously and looked at Sang Zhitao: "Are you sure you're here?"
Sang Zhitao nodded without hesitation, offering no explanation, and walked inside with her bag on her back.
Seeing this, Toya didn't ask any more questions and followed behind her with her luggage.
Sang Zhitao recalled the relevant plot in the original book and walked towards an empty house at the very back of the village.
This is a very typical ancient building with flying eaves and brackets, white walls and green tiles, and two exquisitely carved stone drums on both sides of the wooden gate.
Unfortunately, the white walls are now mottled, the blue tiles are muddy, the eaves are broken, the brackets are damaged, and even the plaque with words carved on it is split in two and hangs diagonally in mid-air, almost falling.
Toya looked at her in surprise and blurted out, "Mia, where is this?"
Hearing the Western-style name and seeing the classical architecture with pure Eastern characteristics, Sang Zhitao couldn't recognize it. She twitched her eyes and looked at the layers of spider webs on the door. She said helplessly, "Ancestral home."
She didn't explain much to Toya and just pushed the door open and went in.
The creaking sound of the door opening echoed through the quiet village, carrying a hint of eeriness.
Seeing that she was unwilling to explain, Toya frowned, thought for a moment, and then followed Sang Zhitao into the strange building in her mind.
The scene in the courtyard was much more desolate than I had imagined, with fallen leaves and weeds everywhere, bricks and tiles from the house scattered all over the ground, and even two outbuildings collapsed.
The apricot tree that was planted has grown into a large tree, its leaves so dense that they cover half of the yard.
The two of them made their way through the waist-high weeds to the main house.
The old-fashioned door lock was rotten and broken in two with just a little force from Sang Zhitao.
Pushing open the door, dust rushed in. Sang Zhitao paid no attention to the old furnishings in the room. She went straight to the display shelf in the corner, scanned the items on it, and touched a book.
Sang Zhitao pulled a six-pointed star pendant from her bosom, moved the book aside, and a six-pointed star groove immediately appeared on the wall behind the bookshelf.
She inserted the six-pointed star in her hand into the groove on the wall.
A rumbling sound came, and the display shelf slowly moved to the side, revealing a door about half a person's width behind the wall.
There was no musty smell coming from inside the door; on the contrary, it smelled fresher than the dilapidated main house.
"Is this what's behind here?" Toya frowned slightly as she looked at the large hole behind the door.
"Okay, let's go." Sang Zhitao took the six-pointed star off the wall and stepped directly into the room.
"Be careful!" Toya blurted out, not forgetting to pick up her suitcase and follow her inside.
Upon entering, there is a small platform, and below that, a flight of stairs.
Sang Zhitao didn't go down directly. Instead, she felt around on the wall until she found another six-pointed star groove, and then she inserted the six-pointed star into it.
In an instant, the entire space was as bright as day.
Looking at the pure white space, Toya was somewhat surprised: "The ventilation system is still running?!"
Sang Zhitao nodded and replied softly, "I don't remember where the data is. Go find it. All permissions have been granted."
As she spoke, she pushed open one of the doors, revealing a professional laboratory inside.
Toya glanced at her briefly and nodded: "No problem."
There are two other doors nearby, one leading to the archives room and the other to the bedroom.
"Only your parents have used this lab?" Toya asked curiously, after briefly assessing the size of the space.
Sang Zhitao nodded: "Otherwise, I wouldn't have dared to bring you here."
As she spoke, she yawned.
Toya frowned: "Why don't you go and rest first? You're still just a child."
Sang Zhitao nodded: "Okay, call me if you need anything."
The bed in the bedroom was clean, but there were no bedding. Sang Zhitao looked in the cabinet next to her and found a brand new set of bedding. She asked Tuoya to help her change into it and then went to sleep.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself back at the Earth base.
"Is this world an upside-down world?" Team Leader Sheng An rarely had time to come and personally collect information.
Sang Zhitao nodded repeatedly and shouted to Zhang Su, who was taking measurements, "Quickly give me some food, the food in that world is awful!"
Seeing her teary-eyed look, Zhang Su couldn't help but laugh and ask, "Is it really that bad?"
Sang Zhitao nodded emphatically: "It's not just bad, it's absolutely awful, it's torture for my taste buds."
Zhang Su covered her mouth, and it took her a while to suppress her laughter: "Then wait a moment, I'll get you some breakfast after I've measured your body data."
Sang Zhitao clasped her hands together and rubbed them obediently: "Thank you, sister-in-law, I love you~"
Zhang Su, her face flushed, silently packed her things and left.
Team Leader Sheng An smiled and shook his head, looking at her: "Why aren't you behaving in reverse?"
"I think I've also been infected with that orthogonal virus." Sang Zhitao pinched the lollipop handed to her by the researcher next to her, stuffed it into her mouth, squinted her eyes in satisfaction, and then answered him.
A look of panic flashed across Team Leader Sheng An's eyes as he hurriedly pressed the communication button: "Tao Tao has been infected with the positive sequence virus. The medical team is arranging for tests!"
Zhang Su, who had just left, hurriedly returned with her medical kit, grabbed Sang Zhitao's arm, and began drawing blood from her, scolding her as she did so: "Why didn't you say you had the virus sooner?! You child!"
Sang Zhitao scratched her head: "I'm using Mia's body, which has Paradox antibodies. Don't worry, it'll be fine."
Zhang Su couldn't help but tap her on the head: "Nonsense, what if it has an impact on you if you transmigrate here! What if your antibodies weaken!"
Team leader Sheng An chimed in, "That's right, you're being ridiculous! Nothing is more important than your health, you know that!"
Sang Zhitao shrank her neck and nodded repeatedly: "I know, I know, I was wrong."
A moment later, the communication device rang, and Li Mingguo's video call with the elders was connected.
They looked at Sang Zhitao with concern: "How are you feeling, Taotao? Is something wrong? Is anything bothering you?"
"No, no," Sang Zhitao shook her head repeatedly. "It's probably just the plot. Don't worry."
Seeing so many elders so eager to care about her, Sang Zhitao felt a pang of regret for not telling them immediately.
Zhang Su had already expedited the report, and upon seeing it, the worry on her face faded: "It's alright, it's alright, just as Tao Tao said, her body is indeed normal."
Hearing her say that, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Li Mingguo clutched his chest and looked at Sang Zhitao, sighing deeply: "Taotao, you scared us to death! You must remember that your health is important."
Sang Zhitao had to repeatedly swear and promise to protect herself before she could coax the elders back home.
Team Leader Sheng An looked at her with a half-smile, about to say something, when he saw Sang Zhitao clasping her hands together in a cute pleading manner, so he shook his head helplessly and changed the subject.
“According to the original book, Mia should not have been affected. You seem to be speaking normally now, so how could you have been affected?” Team Leader Sheng An looked through the original book and looked at Sang Zhitao with some concern.
Sang Zhitao thought for a moment before replying, "I suspect it's because my own perception is based on our local perception that I'm being influenced."
Team Leader Sheng An tapped his pen on his notebook, remained silent for a long time before saying, "It's possible, but it's also possible that your body is gradually no longer completely affected by the other world."
Sang Zhitao tilted her head, not understanding.
Seeing her blank expression, Team Leader Sheng An explained, "Based on our speculation and the data analysis of the comprehensive medical team, your body has been constantly being modified. We speculate that your final form should be the appearance of the world consciousness you described, which is... God."
He paused, then continued, "Legend has it that gods can take on various forms. We believe that as you travel to different worlds, you will instinctively transform into the form of that world, but your body will remain your body and may no longer follow the so-called original setting."
Sang Zhitao leaned back subconsciously, raising an eyebrow: "Doesn't that mean I can become whatever I want in the future?"
Team Leader Sheng An paused for a moment, then nodded: "Probably. What kind of appearance do you want to become?"
Sang Zhitao hesitated for a moment: "I haven't thought about it yet."
Team Leader Sheng An looked at her with affection and was about to speak when Zhang Su walked over with food.
Sang Zhitao was so engrossed in the food that she didn't even notice Team Leader Sheng An. She quickly grabbed a few steamed buns and ate them. After letting out a satisfied sigh, she slowed down her eating pace.
Team Leader Sheng An then asked, "Do you know the conditions for this time travel?"
Sang Zhitao shook her head: "No, I just took a nap in the lab and came back."
After writing everything down in his notebook, Team Leader Sheng An gave a few more instructions before leaving.
After watching him leave, Sang Zhitao ate for a long time with a table full of delicious food before finally walking out the door, disappearing into the base.
The three worlds of Titans brought so much usable technology that the entire base was in a flurry of activity, and there was hardly anyone walking around in the courtyard.
Sang Zhitao first went to the location of the trading gate, caught up with her good friends from each world, and then ran to the cafeteria to coax the chef into making her fried chicken strips and a few cups of milk tea before carrying the snacks back to her room.
Eating snacks she hadn't had in a long time, drinking the chef's special milk tea, and looking at the latest updated novel on her phone, Sang Zhitao felt that she wished she could never go back to the Upside-Down World again, and her determination to resolve everything and return became even stronger.
Until evening, apart from the new materials sent by Team Leader Sheng An, and the other teams exchanging greetings with Sang Zhitao, she spent most of the time having fun until she fell asleep at night.
The next day, Sang Zhitao returned to Mia's parents' laboratory.
Toya had been busy in the lab all night and was now knocking on the door with her blood-drawing equipment.
"Draw blood?" Sang Zhitao looked at the tools in her hand and nodded knowingly. "Go ahead and do it."
Toya moved swiftly, without feeling any pain whatsoever.
After the blood was drawn, Toya handed her a few steamed buns: "I made some breakfast, have some first."
Looking at the steamed bun, Sang Zhitao felt a strong sense of resistance, but looking at Tuoya, she could only suppress her nausea and take the bun: "Okay, right away."
Without giving it much thought, Toya plunged into the laboratory with the blood drawn.
