Dr. Qi's trip to Daqing Mountain was a fruitful one. Returning to the county seat, he prepared two wild ginseng roots overnight and placed them in a specially crafted jade box. He also placed a dozen stones in another jade box to preserve their spiritual energy.
After finishing all this, he tiptoed back to his room to sleep. His wife was a light sleeper, so even if he tiptoed as quietly as he could, he still woke her up.
"Why are you still up so late at night? You're sleeping when it's already dawn outside!" Old Mrs. Qi complained.
"Good stuff!" Old Chinese doctor Qi took out a stone from his pocket and put it into his wife's palm. "Hold it and don't drop it. You'll know soon."
He lay down on the bed and wanted to say a few words to his wife, but he heard her even breathing next to him, as if she was already fast asleep.
Old Dr. Qi laughed in the darkness. "What a treasure!" His wife is old, and despite his daily regimen, she's still inevitably prone to ailments. This is perfectly normal. As a doctor, Old Dr. Qi understands this better than anyone. Even if you have mountains of gold and silver, you can't stop the aging process.
Thinking of the matter that his old friend Qin Zhongyi, who was far away in the provincial capital, had entrusted to him some time ago, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The ginseng he had asked Xiao Cai to find was for his old friend. A year later, he came back to ask for it, probably because the effect of the medicine had worn off.
Old Chinese doctor Qi gradually fell asleep.
The next day, at noon, Qi, the old Chinese medicine practitioner's apprentice, Ge Gen, was tidying up the front yard while wondering, "Master and his wife always get up early, so why is it so late today and there is still no movement?"
Ge Gen cleaned the yard, chopped firewood and fetched water. He had finished all the housework, but his master and his wife still hadn't gotten up, so he became anxious.
"Master, Master's Wife, are you in the room?"
Ge Gen slammed the door loudly.
After a good night's sleep, Dr. Qi and his wife became annoyed by the noise and had to get up.
"What kind of stone is this?" The old man looked at the stone in his hand curiously. "Where did you get this treasure? I held it all night and it's still cold. How strange! And how many years has it been since I last slept this long?"
Dr. Qi, the old doctor, said mysteriously, "This is indeed a treasure! Keep it, don't drop it, and don't tell anyone else."
Old Chinese doctor Qi called Ge Gen in and asked him to call Qin Zhongyi in the provincial capital to inform him that the ginseng had been found.
That night, a car stopped in front of the home of Dr. Qi, an old Chinese doctor, and an elderly man over fifty years old knocked on the door.
Old Chinese doctor Qi had not yet gone to bed, as he knew that his old friend would definitely come overnight.
"You got two this time?" Qin Zhongyi was very surprised. The ginseng that his old friend gave him last year was so effective that he had repeatedly told his friend to keep an eye out for it and buy it no matter the price as long as there was such ginseng.
Unexpectedly, just over a year later, he got two more!
"Where did you get this ginseng?" Qin Zhongyi asked. He knew that some people outside the world knew some magical secrets.
Old Chinese doctor Qi shook his head. “It’s a little hard to believe. These ginseng were dug from the mountains in the south of our county.”
"Your county? Your county has such a good mountain?" Qin Zhongyi really didn't believe it. This wild ginseng had obviously been soaked in spiritual energy for many years, otherwise how could it have such good effects?
"That's why I say it's unbelievable. Speaking of which, Daqing Mountain in our county has indeed become somewhat unusual in recent years. I used to go to Daqing Mountain quite often to collect herbs, and back then, Daqing Mountain was just an ordinary mountain. I haven't been going up the mountain to collect herbs much in recent years, and I don't know when Daqing Mountain became so mysterious."
Qin Zhongyi twirled his beard and made up his mind: "Why don't you take me there tomorrow. I want to see what the situation is like in Daqing Mountain. After all, my master's health won't improve in a day or two. He needs long-term care. He can't stop taking ginseng and the like."
After the two men had agreed on the matter, they exchanged some pleasantries. Seeing the moon at its zenith, they went to bed.
In Wangjia Village, in the south of the county, Jianguo tossed and turned in bed. He returned from dinner and told his family he wasn't in a rush to get married and would wait a few years for Zhou Xinghong. His mother was so angry she ignored him all night.
After saying this, Jianguo felt relieved. Having made up his mind, he was no longer confused and was just waiting to express his feelings to Zhou Xinghong at dawn tomorrow.
In the east room, Xiaoya's grandmother was so worried that she couldn't sleep.
Xiaoya's grandmother kept turning over and over, causing Xiaoya's grandfather to complain: "Don't be like a pancake. Children and grandchildren have their own blessings. Forget it, just let him be. Just wait and see how long he can hold on. When everyone around him gets married and has children, he won't be able to sit still anymore! Anyway, it's not like we can't find a daughter-in-law, so no one will say anything."
Xiaoya's grandmother sighed and said, "I'm afraid he can really wait seven or eight years. He wasn't happy about this marriage at first, so he went to ask Old Lady Feng. Old Lady Feng said that the girl from the Zhou family is very good, and if there is any reason for her to be unworthy, it's because our Jianguo is not worthy of her! From the tone of her words, does it mean that they can get together in the future?"
"Did Old Lady Feng really say that?" asked Xiao Ya's grandfather.
"How could that be false? I didn't realize it at the time. Speaking of which, the girl from the Zhou family is really a nice person. To be honest, our Jianguo is really not as good as her."
"Then what are you still doing here? Old Lady Feng said the Zhou girl is good, so it must be good. A few years later, what's the big deal?" The little girl's grandfather rolled his eyes, "Alright, let's go to sleep!"
"What do you know? Jianguo is one year younger than the girl from the Zhou family. If they wait for seven or eight years, the girl from the Zhou family will be 27 or 28 years old. If Jianguo changes his mind during this period, I don't know what others will say."
"Tell me, what if the founding of a nation changes its tune midway through?"
"Hey, I'm talking to you, old man?"
The only answer she got was snoring.
Grandma Xiaoya was so angry that she couldn't sleep. She thought about it over and over in the dark, but couldn't come up with a plan. Finally, she decided to go to Old Lady Feng to ask again the next day.
The mornings in Wangjia Village are beautiful. The morning light shines on the ground, and the birds in the mountains sing, clear and melodious.
Early in the morning, Wangjia Village was bustling with activity. Some went to school, some went to the fields, and some were busy getting ready to meet their loved ones.
Even though Jiaojiao didn't have to go to school, she got up early. Farmers didn't have the habit of sleeping in, and Jiaojiao wasn't really a child yet. She'd spent the entire night studying formations in the space, making some progress. She was itching to try her hand at it, so she headed up the mountain to try it out during the day.
The spirit gathering array she made last time was small in area, so this time she planned to use a few spirit stones to try to make a large array, so that she could encircle most of the mountains and make Daqing Mountain more spiritually abundant.
