Watching Cumberland's departing figure, Todd felt the burden on his shoulders growing heavier and heavier.

Trying his best to keep those around him alive had already taken a heavy toll on him. If it were a country, if it were about maintaining a country, he didn't know if he could do it.

Temporarily setting aside his distracting thoughts, Todd left the Knights' headquarters and went out onto the street. Looking at the bustling crowd, he took off the hood of his robe and went to the "Sisters' Inn" for a meal.

Rachel devoted most of her time and energy to the biochemical plant and rarely had time to attend to the hotel business, so Karin Forman became the usual manager here.

The girl, who was originally a circus star, no longer had the childishness of the past. Having abandoned her playfulness and willfulness, Karin directed Pamela and several other alien girls to serve food, clean, clear tables, register customers, and so on, managing the entire hotel in an orderly manner.

Todd glanced at the other guests in the hotel; most were either gourmets who had come specifically to try it, or wealthy residents of the town. To his surprise, he saw the "Electromagnetic Girl"—Cosette—hiding behind the bar, looking bewildered.

Compared to her first appearance in the cave, Cosette had cut off her messy white hair, washed her muddy face, and put on a clean and tidy maid outfit. Due to her albinism and long-term lack of sunlight, her exposed skin was so white that it was dazzling. Combined with her delicate face and pink pupils, she undoubtedly became the most eye-catching presence in the entire hotel.

Karin, who was extremely busy, noticed that everyone else was occupied with their own tasks, so she pointed to the barley tea on the tray and asked Cosette to take it to the guests. The girl looked at the room full of guests with fear and shook her head frantically at the acting manager.

Karin pointed at the barley tea again, looking anxious, and urged Cosette to start working once more.

The timid girl picked up her teacup, head bowed, avoiding the gaze of others, and ran quickly, spilling tea on the guest's table in her haste. Cosette frantically tried to wipe the water stains with a dry cloth, but her nervousness caused the blue 'coils' under her skin to become increasingly bright.

Todd knew he was in trouble.

Accompanied by crackling electrical sounds, blinding arcs of electricity struck the table and flowed down the spilled tea onto the guests.

Screams, thuds, cracking sounds, and the smell of burning human flesh filled the lobby of the "Sisters Hotel" into chaos.

Twenty minutes later, an exhausted Karin sat on a bench in the kitchen, looking up at the sky through the open window, with a dejected Cosette standing beside her.

"You almost killed one of our guests!"

Upon hearing this accusation, Cosette lowered her head even further.

Todd walked in and smiled at the two girls, saying, "The guests are alright now."

Karin stood up from the bench and gave him a grateful look, but Cosette's gaze toward Todd was much more complicated.

Karin looked at Cosette and sighed helplessly: "First, you burned the bed while you were sleeping; then, you electrocuted Pamela, who was helping you, while you were washing dishes; and today, you almost killed a guest."

“I didn’t mean to…” Cosette said softly.

Karin turned to Todd: "We need your help with her abilities."

Todd looked at the blue coils under the albino girl's skin, and rubbed his nose with a headache: "To be honest, this kind of ability is very dangerous, and I don't know how to deal with it."

Seeing Cosette lower her head again, Todd said with some reluctance, "But perhaps we can give it a try."

Todd's lab building was cleared of the instruments and bottles on the lab benches, and the tables were pieced together to form a makeshift operating table.

Rachel, Karin, and Pamela stood by, watching Cosette's anxious state on the operating table, and offered words of comfort, saying that everything would be alright.

Todd put on a mask and cotton gloves, adjusted the concentration of ether, walked up to Cosette, and said to her, "Wait a moment, I will give you general anesthesia. You will be temporarily unconscious for three hours. During this time, I will use minimally invasive surgery to extract some of the 'power-generating coils' in your body to find a way to control your superpowers."

"I'm asking you, are you ready now?" Todd looked into Cosette's eyes and said calmly, "Don't worry, it's just a minor surgery, there's no danger at all."

Cosette turned her head and looked at Rachel.

The woman nodded gently and gave her an encouraging look.

Cosette took a deep breath and said, "I'm ready."

Todd placed the ether-soaked cloth over the albino girl's mouth and nose, and after several seconds, she fell asleep. He first nodded to the three people behind him, then made a small incision in her leg with a sterilized knife, and finally tried to grasp the foreign object under her skin with sterling silver pliers.

Just as the pliers touched the blue line, a huge current shot out from Cosette's body, burning a small hole in Todd's cotton glove and leaving a black mark on the stone platform beneath her.

Left with no other option, Todd could only try to deplete Cosette's electrical energy as much as possible by touching her.

After nearly ten minutes of discharge, the blue lines under the skin gradually faded. Todd tried a few times with pliers and finally decided to try again.

Making another small incision, Todd clamped down on the foreign object under Cosette's skin, enduring the intense heat from the clamps, and pulled with all his might. Amidst the gasps of those around him, a 60-centimeter-long blue nematode was pulled out from under her skin.
