Chapter 146 The Village of the Valkyries

At this point, the Valkyrie walked to the end of the village and came to a smooth stone wall. She braced her hands against a heavy boulder, and with a roar and the sound of the ground scraping against it, the boulder, weighing a thousand pounds, was moved aside, revealing a dark hole in the stone wall.

Brushing the dust off her hands, Brunhilde ignored the men's surprised expressions and stepped into the cave first.

The Valkyrie took a torch from the wall at the cave entrance, lit it with a flint and steel, and walked deeper into the cave, saying, "But, for some reason, not many of the village children survive. Many, like that baby, suffer from high fevers for days, develop red rashes, and finally succumb to exhaustion and die..."

Upon hearing this, something flashed through Todd's mind, but as he tried to think about it carefully, his attention was drawn to other things.

The cave walls are covered with murals.

The murals depict powerful and invincible gods and monsters of various shapes, each with its own name written in Old Norse below it: Odin, Thor, Freyr, Heimdallr, Muspel, Hrimthurs, Loki, Fenrir, and so on.

Todd slowly advanced, gazing at the murals, until finally, at the end of the cave, he saw a painting titled "Ragnarok." Asgard was engulfed in flames and sea, stars fell from the sky, and time ceased to exist. The scorched earth trembled and sank into the turbulent sea, with only towering waves as far as the eye could see, and the universe was filled with a deathly silence and eternal darkness.

The painting was almost identical to the descriptions in Norse mythology from his previous life. But there was one thing that caught Todd's attention: directly above in the sky, there was a strange symbol composed of two parts. The upper part was an upward-pointing arrow, and the lower part was an inverted isosceles triangle.

Brunhilde walked to the wall at the end, placed her hands on it, and pushed forward with all her might. The wall caved in, revealing a narrow path, just wide enough for one person to pass through, before the group.

Todd and Hudgens exchanged a glance, and ultimately decided to follow the Valkyrie to see what was going on.

Squeezing through the gap, Todd stared in astonishment at the view before him.

The world behind the mountain wall turned out to be a huge cave.

Looking into the distance, the depths of the cave seem endless. In some places it's like a plaza, in others like a long corridor, and in some places it's as high as 30 meters. The entire cave meanders and twists on the surface, and vertically it can be divided into three levels. At the lowest level, you can vaguely see an underground river flowing by. At the very top of the cave is a naturally formed sinkhole, from which strong sunlight shines down, bringing a glimmer of light to this mysterious underground space.

Brunhilde turned to Todd and said, “Chief of Twilight Town, welcome to the Ruins of the Gods. I’ve heard you’re an alchemist, and there’s something I’d like to show you.”
