Chapter 21 Pilgrimage

Those believers outside, having learned of Todd's presence, desperately tried to push their way forward. Some even attempted to climb over the railing to touch the Son's body and receive God's blessing, and the scene descended into chaos.

Just as Todd was at a loss, Huggins came to his side, first shrugged helplessly at the monks, and then took on the role of the order officer in the front hall, directing several people to herd the worshippers into a straight line.

For the entire afternoon, the boy sat in an ornate chair that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, a stiff smile on his face. It was unclear how many believers he had appeased with his formulaic prayers, or how many kisses his feet had received.

The sun was setting in the west, and the last rays of its light were fading.

When Todd heard someone shout in his ear that it was late and everyone should go back, his nose tingled and tears almost fell.

The monk was eager to get up, but found that his lower body was numb and he could not feel anything. With the help of Hudgens and Jerry, he finally had the strength to walk into the backyard.

While eating the food and water the man offered, Todd, completely disregarding his image, found a clean, open space and wolfed down his food, asking those around him, "Why are there so many people?!"

Huggins glanced at Edgar and Jerry, who were standing straight beside him, not daring to make a sound, and sat down next to Todd with a smile, saying in a teasing tone, "You don't know?! You're famous now!"

"famous?"

"Your exorcism deeds have already spread. Yesterday, believers came to the monastery gate hoping to worship the Holy Son, and today there are just more people."

Todd's eyes widened, he swallowed the food in his mouth, then gulped down a mouthful of water and said, "Believer? Worship? Holy Son?"

"He single-handedly forced out the demon, remained fearless in the face of danger when the exorcism failed, and was willing to sacrifice himself to avoid harming the innocent, dying in the fire and being reborn. Tell me, isn't it fair to call him a saint?"

He sat there blankly for a long time without saying a word.

Todd knew the exorcism would have a big impact, but he didn't expect it to cause such a huge commotion.

Standing up and brushing the dust off his clothes, Huggins watched the sky slowly darken and said to him, "After you finish eating, we'll head off to see someone."

"who?"

The man turned his head to look at the distant firelight and said calmly, "A member of our alien family, today is the day she returns..."

"Black sheep".
