An associate professor in life engineering travels to a medieval European fantasy world. Using modern biochemistry, he discovers that viruses, bacteria, and parasites extinct in human history are a...
“There’s something I need your help with…” Todd said, frowning, hesitant.
Imagine a man suddenly says to another woman, "I hope you can enter my soul and help me see what's going on in my head." How would she react?
Todd carefully chose his words, briefly recounting his relationship with Clarence and subtly making his request.
He was mistaken; Mary agreed almost instantly upon hearing the king's request.
“The power of soul linking is still somewhat unstable and may have potential risks.” Todd felt it necessary to make the dangers clear in advance.
Mary shook her head and said, "If it's your business, no risk is too great to mention."
"Your consciousness will enter an unknown world, and I cannot guarantee that this process will not cause you any harm."
Mary glanced at Todd: "Your Majesty, I thank you for your kindness, but you are the King of Muxi, and if I may be so bold, sometimes the things you worry about... are a little strange..."
Todd remained silent for a long time after hearing this.
He then stood up, walked to Mary, and looked at the seated woman.
Mary adjusted her posture, turning to face the King.
He reached out and touched her temple, gently brushing against her smooth, creamy skin. The warmth of her skin momentarily stunned him. Then, Todd took a deep breath and said, "It might hurt a little the first time."
Mary nodded slightly and closed her eyes.
Recalling the scene where Clarence linked with his soul, Todd attempted to use his "Shaping" ability to pierce Mary's skull with his fingers.
Blood beads flowed from the tiny wound on her skin, and the woman sitting in the chair let out a suppressed moan.
The next second, their spirits were sucked into a new world.

Mary looked at the gleaming light on the steel cabinet and the images displayed on the LCD screen, then covered her mouth with her two small hands, momentarily lost in thought and shock.
Todd walked to the coffee machine in the corner of the room, poured himself and Mary a cup of coffee, and then walked over to the woman with the cups.
Is this paradise?
Hearing Mary's question, Todd gave an awkward laugh: "Heaven? No, this is more like my workplace."
Mary carefully observed the images on the screen—a tranquil rooftop garden, a bustling robotic workshop, and vast, boundless rivers, seas, and mountains. She turned her head, her voice filled with disbelief and extreme excitement: "Is this how you look down upon the mortal realm under your rule?"
Todd was a little confused: "Looking down? The mortal world? These small screens are called monitors. They use cameras or drones to... well, never mind, it's too complicated to explain. Try this instead."
"This is?"
"Coffee is a beverage I often drink; it can refresh and invigorate me."
Mary picked up the teddy bear-printed mug, her eyes sparkling: "You mean this drink is like a fountain of wisdom? Drinking it can grant you wisdom?"
"No, no, this stuff can only keep you sober for a short time. Drinking too much will actually have a 'brain drain' effect."
Mary picked up her glass and took a small sip. The unexpected bitterness left her with an indescribable expression.
Seeing this, Todd took out a packet of sugar and a small box of creamer from the drawer, poured them into Mary's glass, and gestured for her to try again.
The sweetness of the sugar and the rich aroma of the creamer diluted the bitterness of the coffee, and a rich fragrance slowly spread in her mouth. Mary picked up the cup and gulped it down in one go.
“Um…that’s not how you drink coffee…” Todd gave up explaining and called Mary, who was looking around, to begin deciphering Clarence’s memories.
Mary licked the milk stains from the corner of her mouth and focused her attention on the big screen, on the constantly changing images and sounds.
Todd pulled his gaze away from the woman's lips and began to explain the keywords and target items for memory filtering.
The first thing shown was a photo of Theodore's face, accompanied by his voice. Todd said to Mary, "The man in the picture is Theodore, the president of the Relief Society. He was assassinated by his subordinates. But fifteen years before the assassination, he used a special method to heal a mutated successor."
"I've heard of the Relief Society; it seems to be an anti-church organization. But what's this about the mutation of the heirs?"
Todd slapped his forehead and suddenly remembered that although Mary had once been the Queen of the Silver Ring, she did not know anything about the alien race.
Left with no other choice, he had to explain the origins and details of the terms Relief Society, Presbyterian Church, Theodore, Clarence, Jerome, and the Heirs.
Seeing that Mary finally had a general understanding of the whole matter, Todd continued, "What we need to find now is what method Theodore used to treat the Heir. Clarence is one of the three elders of the Elder Council, and I believe he must have some inside information in his memory."
Mary nodded, indicating that Todd could continue playing Clarence's memories.
Even with the nine screens playing at an accelerated pace, it took a whole day to play all the memory fragments. The side effects of using the Soul Space for an extended period left Todd mentally exhausted, causing the lights in the entire research institute to flicker and the walls to begin to twist and deform.
“We must leave here. I’m so tired and exhausted that I’m afraid I can’t keep this world going,” Todd whispered to Mary, his head throbbing with pain.
