Chapter 322 The Bystander

Stepping out of the tribe's longhouse, Todd turned his gaze to the concrete building at the other end of the camp, and his previously calm emotions began to ripple slightly.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, he strode forward, stepping through the snow, and slowly walked to the entrance of the building.

Looking at the tightly closed door in front of him, Todd reached for the handle, but hesitated, his hand hovering in mid-air. His mind was already filled with a multitude of thoughts.

The feeling he has for Rachel is not simply romantic love.

When he first saw her, she wasn't exceptionally beautiful, but her figure, eyes, and movements all exuded a bright and charming allure that was extremely rare. However, whether in his past life or this one, Todd didn't have much affection for such a seductive woman, let alone any romantic feelings for her.

But as they spent more and more time together, Todd was increasingly impressed by the intelligence and strategy hidden beneath the surface of the other person.

After spending some time together, when Todd met Rachel again, he no longer focused on her appearance, but rather on her thoughts.

With the events of the alien alliance, the Shadow Kingdom, and her refusal to enter the palace, Rachel's thoughts became increasingly unfathomable, and Todd labeled her as 'mysterious' once again. Many times, Todd thought he had grasped her thoughts, but upon further investigation, he found that he had only seen a thin veil.

Are you planning to stand there for a while?

A mumbled voice came from the second floor, interrupting Todd's thoughts and making him look up.

Holding half a baked sweet potato in both hands, with half her body leaning out of the window, Rachel looked down at Todd at the door while still munching on the food in her hands.

With a smile and a shake of his head, Todd put those complicated thoughts behind him and gently pushed open the door.

The wind was biting cold outside, but it was warm and cozy inside.

The richly textured brown solid wood flooring, the minimalist round tables and chairs, the handcrafted tribal artifacts, combined with the bright fireplace and reclining chairs, gave Todd a fleeting illusion that he had returned to the café of his past life.

"How is it? Everything here is designed according to the decorative style of another world." Rachel slowly walked down the wooden steps.

The woman was only wearing a pale white autumn robe, which revealed her curvaceous figure, causing Todd to secretly swallow.

The two stood facing each other, gazing into each other's eyes, remaining silent for a long time.

More than half a month had passed since the last moment of pleasure in the Soul Space. After finally meeting Rachel in person, Todd found himself at a loss for words.

Rachel noticed Todd's gaze lingering on her chest and asked irritably, "Where are you looking?"

Upon hearing this, the latter immediately raised his head and pretended to be serious.

Rachel turned to her side and settled into a comfortable position in the recliner: "You came faster than I expected. I thought you didn't care about the lives of others and planned to spend this cold winter alone in your palace."

Todd sat on the edge of the chaise lounge and turned to look at Rachel: "I could have come earlier, but there are some matters in the kingdom that must be settled before I leave."

"How long can you stay this time?"

"If nothing urgent happens in the kingdom, it might be... a long time."

Upon hearing Todd's words, Rachel suddenly sat up from the recliner, stared intently into the other's eyes, and asked seriously, "My Majesty, what exactly did you do upon returning to Twilight City this time?"

Todd told Rachel everything about forming a cabinet and the handover of government affairs.

The latter closed his eyes and sighed helplessly: "The power that others want, you avoid like the plague."

Todd smiled wryly and said, "Perhaps I am not capable of being a qualified monarch."

"On the contrary, in my opinion, you are perhaps the most wise monarch in thousands of years..." Before she could finish speaking, Rachel suddenly widened her eyes and feigned anger at Todd, saying, "What are you doing with your hands?!"

Todd's hand gently moved up the woman's leg, his body unconsciously leaning closer to her, and he whispered, "Regarding what happened in the soul world, I think perhaps we can discuss it in the realm of reality now..."

Rachel chuckled and interrupted him: "I don't think like you. First of all, I can't stand the way you are now."

Todd looked down at his body and said thoughtfully, "You're right, this is indeed not appropriate. I can return to my original state immediately."

Rachel reached out her fair hands and gently grasped Todd's chin, a mischievous smile on her face: "Secondly, I don't like having an audience."

Todd's eyes drifted to the deep cleavage on Rachel's chest, and he unconsciously muttered, "I don't like the audience either... Huh? What did you just say? The audience?!"

Rachel pushed Todd's chin away and turned his head toward the stairs.

An unexpected face appeared at the top of the stairs, startling Todd.

Deirdre bit her lower lip, her face flushed as she looked at the two people on the recliner. Her expression was exactly like that of a wife who had just returned home and caught her husband cheating in bed with another woman.

Thirteen kilometers north of Froststone Camp.

Conchuber's trusted minister, Vulgar, sat on his warhorse, looking at the endless army beside him, without uttering a word.

The commander of the Ulster regiment rode up to Vorgal and said, "Sir, isn't it a bit... overkill to use so many soldiers to wipe out a group of gladiatorial deserters?"
