Chapter 411 The Meeting of Mutants

Carol, who had been lying unconscious on the cold ground, gradually regained consciousness.

Staggering to her feet, Carol shook her groggy head and looked down at her tattered clothes, feeling that something was wrong with her body.

Carroll looked out the door; the sun was setting in the west, and dusk was approaching.

As he walked to the street, leaning against the door frame, he saw a woman walking towards him—a neighbor he knew well—and was about to say hello.

Unexpectedly, upon seeing Carol, the other person dropped the basket as if they had seen a ghost, screamed, and turned to run away.

Scratching the back of his head, Carroll, looking completely bewildered, rounded the corner at the end of the street and entered a small market.

When he appeared in the sight of the citizens, the originally noisy and bustling market suddenly became silent.

Everyone's face was contorted with fear, as if they had seen the most terrifying thing in the world.

Someone shouted, "Monster!"

The entire market instantly turned into a powder keg ignited by a spark. Cries, falls, and calls for help mingled together as men, women, and children pushed and shoved each other, scrambling to escape into the distance.

In less than half a minute, apart from the poultry wandering around, the only other living creature in the entire market was Carol.

With her mouth agape, Carol stared at the chaos before her, her mind filled with questions.

When he found a wooden bucket filled with water and looked inside, he was so frightened by his own appearance that he screamed.

A two-meter-tall giant was reflected on the water's surface, with sharp, raised fangs, pale green, muscular muscles, and a wide, outward-flaring nose.

"The Holy King is here! What have I become?!"

Carol's voice became low and hoarse, sounding like two rough stones rubbing against each other.

"Guards! That monster is there!"

The shouts coming from the end of the street caught Carol's attention.

The clatter of his armor as he ran, along with the rhythmic marching of the army, reminded him that at this moment, escape was the best option.

Carroll started running and ran desperately into the alley.

As the footsteps of his pursuers grew closer, Carroll, in a panic, plunged into a dead end.

Looking at the thick wall in front of him, a desperate Carol turned around and looked at the guards slowly approaching him.

By the light of the fires from nearby shops, the guards of Muxi City finally saw the monster's true face. Even the well-trained soldiers stared wide-eyed in fear at the sight of this enormous, upright-walking beast.

For safety's sake, the captain of the guard immediately gave the order, taking the safest approach: "Prepare the bows and arrows! Aim!"

Seeing the arrows gleaming coldly opposite him, Carol roared and slammed his fists backward, smashing the half-meter-thick wall into a pile of broken bricks.

Watching the enormous figure disappear into the night, the guards were so frightened that they stopped in their tracks, and none of them dared to give chase.

After a long while, the captain of the guard mustered his courage and approached the wall. He looked at the pile of broken bricks on the ground and gasped, "This wall is so thick. Even a battering ram that dozens of people could hug wouldn't be able to break it in one go... What kind of monster could have broken it with just one blow..."

Under the cover of night, Carol escaped to the outskirts of the city via the underground sewers. Terrified, he dared not take the main roads, but instead chose abandoned paths and fled into the forest.

After confirming that there were no pursuers behind him, Carroll, panting heavily, leaned against a tree trunk and slumped to the ground.

Covering her face with her large, rough hands, the grief-stricken Carol roared with all her might, "Why? Why me?!"

He punched backward, and the tree trunk, as thick as a man's waist, snapped in two.

A thunderclap boomed in the sky, and large raindrops began to fall.

Sitting by the tree roots, Carol looked up at the sky, letting the rain mixed with her tears flow slowly down her cheeks.

Three days later, in the evening.

Hungry and exhausted, Carol, dressed in a tattered burlap sack he had found, hid in a village twenty kilometers east of Muxi City, his eyes fixed on the livestock of a farmer.

Like a patient hunter, Carol lay motionless on the grass, quietly waiting for the sun to set.

As the last rays of sunlight disappeared from the earth, all the farmers went home to rest.

Carroll stretched his limbs a few times, then cautiously observed his surroundings before finally crawling closer to the livestock pen.

It took him ten minutes to finally reach the fence.

Carroll stretched out a hand through the gap in the fence, seemingly about to reach the goat that was so close.

To his surprise, the goat suddenly took two steps back, turned its head to look at the big beast, and cried out loudly.

At that moment, screams and footsteps immediately came from the farmer's house.

Seeing that all his efforts were in vain, Carol, whose mind was dominated by hunger, simply stood up and clapped his hands together, causing the wooden fence to shatter into pieces.

With a swift movement, Carroll tucked the troublesome goat under his arm and dashed off towards the village entrance.

"Thief! Thief! This bastard stole my sheep!"

First, an angry voice rang out in the village, and then the entire village instantly boiled over like a pot of oil with water added.

Hoes, shovels, sickles... everything that could be used as a weapon was picked up by the villagers.

A large, well-organized team chasing after Carol sped away.
