Chapter 418 Trapped

Following the surging ocean current beneath the abandoned shipyard, Carol swam behind Aldenan for about two minutes before finally seeing the light overhead.

Clinging to the rock wall at the end, Carol used the reaction force to leap upwards. After being deprived of oxygen for a long time, Carol couldn't wait to start breathing heavily as soon as he broke the surface.

Aldenan first carefully observed his surroundings, then cautiously climbed ashore, shook his body, and shook off the water stains clinging to his fur.

The two were in a huge cave, with various lifting and transportation equipment overhead. There were complex corridors and high platforms built between the mountain walls on both sides, and a huge, tightly closed wooden door ten meters high directly opposite them.

As she took off her tattered coat and wrung out the seawater, Carol looked at everything in amazement and murmured, "Where am I?"

Aldenan walked to the side of the cliff, looked at the man-made carving marks on the rock, and frowned, saying, "I don't know, but these marks look very new, so it should be a project from the last two years."

“I recognize that thing.” Carol raised her hand and pointed to a pulley crane overhead. “I’ve seen this thing at the port. It seems to be a lifting device designed by Muxi University for port cargo transportation, but the ones at the port don’t look this sophisticated or complex.”

Aldenan stroked the wolf mane on his chin and pondered, "Lifting equipment? So this is a secret port?"

Carroll stood on one tiptoe, tilted his head, and hopped around in place. He picked at his ear vigorously and said nonchalantly, "I don't care where I am, I just want to find that damn bastard!"

Aldenan looked around the vicinity, finally fixing his gaze on the tightly closed gate, which was several meters high, in the distance.

"It's not a good idea to stay here any longer. We need to find a way to get behind that door."

As Aldenan spoke, he observed the surrounding terrain: "If this is a secret port, then the area behind the gate must be heavily guarded. Therefore, we must find a way to sneak in."

His gaze followed the long corridor carved into the mountainside, when suddenly Aldenan's eyes lit up: "Look there! There's a small protruding platform on the mountainside! If we can get there, we can climb over that cliff and then follow the cracks in the mountain to the back..."

Before he could finish speaking, a loud scraping sound from afar and a violent shaking beneath his feet stunned Aldenan into a daze.

"What's going on?!" The werewolf turned around and saw a scene that left him speechless.

The orc Karol stood before the massive wooden door, his hands pressed against the door panels, his feet sinking deep into the mud.

With a loud shout, he managed to push open the two heavy doors, each weighing several tons, bit by bit.

"Oh my god!"

Aldenan's mouth gaped wider and wider as the door moved. He quickly realized that Carol's actions would have extremely serious consequences.

"You idiot! You'll attract everyone here!"

Without looking back, Aldenan plunged back into the sea, swam to the end of the cave, and poked half his head out to observe the movement at the entrance.

With his immense strength, Carroll finally managed to push the door open a crack.

Carol twisted her aching wrist and peered into the doorway, looking at the world beyond.

The sight before him made Carol feel like a country bumpkin who had stumbled into a treasure trove, and he excitedly shouted, "Holy King! Am I dreaming?!"

Hearing Carol's shout, Aldenan, who was hiding in the water, could no longer suppress his curiosity and shouted back, "What did you see?"

A beaming Carroll waved and called out towards Aldenan, "Come quick! There's no one in here! You really should see this... it's simply..."

As Carroll spoke, he walked straight into the room.

"Damn it!" Aldnan was torn as he watched Carroll's figure slowly disappear.

Should we follow them? Or leave now?

Ultimately, Aldenan chose the former.

When he stepped through the giant gate, what he saw almost took his breath away.

A ship.

A black ship.

A strangely shaped black warship.

This warship, placed on a wooden pedestal, was noticeably smaller than its counterparts, measuring only about eighteen meters in length. Its shape was not the typical spire, but rather a spindle, tapering at both ends and widening in the middle. Furthermore, its waterline was shallow, and a deep wave-breaking channel ran along the hull. The sails were folded and stowed on the deck. Most strangely, this peculiar warship was entirely black, as if cast from a single piece of black iron, and from the outside, no entrances or doorways could be found.

“I’ve never seen a ship like this before.” Carol approached the hull, touched the uneven surface with her hand, and said strangely, “This plank doesn’t look like wood.”

Aldenan walked over to Carroll, looked at the latter who was studying the hull, and said with a smile, "I didn't expect you to know so much about shipbuilding."

Carroll crouched down, looking at the streamlined shape of the ship's hull, and said, "When I used to work as a dockworker or barge hauler, I dealt with sailors the most, so I know a little about ships. But this ship is really too strange..."

Carroll tapped the hull lightly with his hand, and surprisingly, it produced a dull echo.

“This hardness, and this color…” Carol scratched his head: “Could the material be steel?”
