An associate professor in life engineering travels to a medieval European fantasy world. Using modern biochemistry, he discovers that viruses, bacteria, and parasites extinct in human history are a...
At the foot of the Supuha Mountains, a group of over three hundred people drove a huge watchtower carried by nearly a hundred camels slowly toward the temple in the valley.
The Presbyterian followers of the Mother Goddess emerged from the canyon in a grand procession, kneeling on both sides of the road, praising the Mother Goddess and awaiting the arrival of their master.
Standing on the steps, Sabrina frowned as she looked at the grand scene below and said to Rachel beside her, "When Clarence was alive, he and Eliard would occasionally join forces to suppress Eleanor's power. But thanks to your good king, Clarence is dead. Eleanor absorbed most of Clarence's remaining power and slaughtered many hardliners. Now, the Elders' Council, in a sense, has become Eleanor's Mother Goddess Cult."
"By integrating some members of the Conflict Legion, steadfast followers of the Mother Goddess, and desperate coerced individuals, Eleanor has established a mysterious and powerful assassin organization. Through investigation, threats, and assassinations, the tentacles of the Mother Goddess have spread to every corner of the Southern Empire." Sabrina watched as the camels were driven to a halt and the watchtower was lifted to the ground, and whispered, "I've heard that the shadow of the Mother Goddess is behind the internal strife within the Empire and the fall of the Holy City."
As the curtain on the top floor of the watchtower was slowly drawn back, a beautiful young woman with a face veiled in gold tassels emerged. Her skin was as white as snow, her eyes sparkled, and her eyebrows were long and delicate. Although her face was not visible, it was enough to set the imagination in motion.
Without a ladder or a rope, Eleanor stepped out of the platform into the air. Instead of falling as expected, it was as if a staircase made of air allowed her to descend to the ground step by step.
"All things belong to the Mother Goddess! We submit to Your will!"
Hearing the shouts of the believers around her, Rachel watched Eleanor walk step by step through the air towards her. She knew perfectly well that her face must be filled with an indescribable expression.
Eleanor landed lightly on the ground, about thirty centimeters off the ground, her movements graceful and elegant.
She approached Rachel, looked at the face she hadn't seen in so long, yet felt so familiar, and said with a soft smile, "Welcome home."
Then, Eleanor leaned closer to Rachel, gently touching a faint scar on the latter's forehead with her finger, and whispered, "Take good care of your body."
After saying this, Eleanor ignored the astonished looks of her attendants and walked directly into the temple hall.
Sabrina, who had watched the entire scene from behind a pillar, cautiously approached Rachel, looked at her face, and whispered, "Are you alright?"
Rachel shook her head, her face pale. When she touched her forehead again, she found that the thin scar had disappeared.
The Land of Shadows, Scáthach's training ground.
Having transformed into his Tyrant form, Todd stood amidst the ruins, looking at the rubble around him and asking in bewilderment, "What exactly is today's training?"
Standing on one foot atop a broken sculpture, Scáthach looked at Todd and said, "Soul."
The latter looked puzzled: "Soul? I think you should know the level of science in my original world. Even with that level of development, scientists still dare not confirm the existence of the soul. So, the power of the soul really exists?"
Scáthach looked at Todd and sighed: "I have seen your original world repeatedly. Its scientific level, placed in the context of a mature civilization, is at best that of a babbling infant."
Seeing that Todd still looked unconvinced, Scáthach waved her hands, opening up an image in the sky.
Enormous steel warships floated in space, their blinding and incredibly powerful destructive rays annihilating planet after planet. Countless alien creatures engaged in fierce battles on the land. Life continued in this cycle, endlessly regenerating.
Todd was utterly shocked by what he saw.
"The development of civilization is like a circle. You start from any point on the circle, and after experiencing growth, expansion, war, and destruction, everything returns to the starting point. It's like a curse that can never be broken, and the ruins before you are the traces left by an empire." Scáthach waved her hand again to recall the image and said to Todd, "This planet beneath your feet has developed to heights that your original civilization could not have imagined countless times. The soul may be something unknowable to you, but to them, it was as simple as eating and sleeping."
Scáthach stretched out her hand, summoning a cluster of pale blue particles. She gathered the substance in her hand and said to Todd, "However, thanks to fate, your civilization has already achieved a certain level of understanding of the universe and space, which saves me from many troublesome and laborious steps. For example, in the past, I sometimes had to use myths and magic to lure others into carrying out my training plans."
Compressing the pale blue particle cluster to the size of a grain of rice, Scáthach said to Todd, "The essence of the soul is a substance even smaller than electrons and photons. It carries no electric charge, does not interfere with electrons, and can pass through electromagnetic waves and gravitational fields. If used properly, they can travel freely between different dimensions."
As Todd listened to Scáthach's narration, he felt like he had heard it somewhere before.
"This substance and the energy it generates occupy approximately 95% of the space in a cosmic plane. In their normal form, they cannot be observed by the naked eye and have a weak mutual influence, but they are the most primitive materials that constitute the universe and generate matter."
