Chapter 424 The Dark Side of the Moon

The summer of 1174 AD was one of the hottest days in history.

The parched earth was scorched and cracked, and the withered, yellow crops drooped to the ground.

However, even such severe high temperatures are unlikely to reach the valleys of the Supuha Mountains.

A cool mountain breeze blows down from the snow-capped peaks, through valleys and caves, and into the temple perched on the mountain ridge.

Built hundreds of years ago, the Presbyterian Temple has undergone countless renovations and expansions, transforming into a vast and magnificent architectural complex.

In the temple complex, the highest building was once called the "Hall of Savior" by the elders and other aliens. A statue of the alien hero Sutherland once stood in the square... But now, the statue has collapsed into a pile of rubble, and the "Hall of Savior" has been renamed the "Temple of the Mother Goddess" by the followers of the Mother Goddess.

Entering the Mother Goddess Temple, following the smooth, mirror-like marble floor, passing through the magnificent halls, and exiting the innermost natural cave, a waterfall a hundred meters high hangs on the rock wall, and directly below the waterfall, a beautiful sky garden has been built.

The vibrant and dazzling flowers, along with the rare and unusual birds and animals, adorn this palace hidden among the mountains and rivers, making it seem like a fairyland on earth.

The core of the Mother Goddess Cult—the Mother Goddess's Palace—is located in the very center of this garden.

Lying on a huge ivory bed, Eleanor, dressed only in a thin veil, sipped a glass of red wine and looked at the three people on the other side through a beaded veil screen.

As the beaded curtain was first rolled up, a beautiful woman leaned against the railing, slightly tipsy from the wine.

What should have been an extremely erotic scene turned into a different one. None of the three men standing on the other side of the beaded curtain dared to look up at the opposite side, and they even breathed cautiously.

With her eyes slightly narrowed and a hint of intoxication on her cheeks, Eleanor looked at the half-empty glass of red wine in her hand and said, "Nebhalle, I'm asking you, did Saladin really say that?"

A middle-aged Arab man with a turban and a full beard trembled when his name was called. He quickly replied, "Supreme Mother Goddess, how could your servant dare to deceive you? Everything I said is true!"

Eleanor propped herself up on her arms, her perfect curves on full display: "How did you answer them?"

Nebhal declared righteously, "I rebuked Saladin's messenger, telling him that such conditions were blasphemous! The Supreme Mother Goddess will never accept them!"

Eleanor laughed happily: "Very good."

Seeing this, Naibhal secretly breathed a sigh of relief and also smiled.

Eleanor laughed as she sat up in bed, repeating, "Very good."

Sensing something was amiss, Naibharl, noticing the other two gradually moving away from him, suddenly widened his eyes and shouted loudly, "Mother Goddess! Please forgive me..."

Before he could finish speaking, Naibhal's body gradually turned red, emitting a high-temperature, pale red steam that continuously billowed from his mouth and nose.

The blood in his body felt like boiling water, scorching every organ in the man's body. The pain was indescribable, causing him to let out the most miserable screams that any human being could make.

Eleanor jumped from the edge of the bed to the ground, staring blankly at Naibhaler, waiting for the last drop of moisture in his body to evaporate before slowly raising her right hand and drawing an arc in the air.

The space distorted, and a spherical black hole slowly expanded, gradually devouring the corpse until it disappeared without a trace.

Vernon, who had witnessed the entire tragedy, was drenched in cold sweat and his teeth were chattering.

He stole a glance at Eleanor and, finding her looking at him, Vernon quickly straightened up and pressed his hand firmly against his trembling jaw.

Eleanor returned to bed, staring listlessly at the ceiling, and asked, "What did that old geezer do while I was gone?"

Vernon quickly stepped forward and reported respectfully, "Illid still stays in his laboratory every day, even when eating and sleeping."

Eleanor glanced at him: "What exactly is he doing? Have you found out anything?"

Vernon lowered his head and wiped the sweat from his forehead: "We've checked all the materials he purchased, and they're still the same as before—all things related to alchemy."

Eleanor looked up at the void above her head and muttered to herself, "Iliad, what exactly are you trying to do..."

Vernon suddenly remembered something and quickly said, "Mother Goddess, now that you and Lord Garcia have returned, the end is near for those two traitors! Just give the order, and we will bring them to you immediately!"

Eleanor turned her head, her gaze towards Vernon a half-smile: "When we weren't around, you didn't dare touch them; now that I and the vice-commander of the Legion of Strife are back, your courage has certainly returned..."

Seeing Eleanor's expression, Vernon's legs went weak, and he knelt on the ground, unable to speak: "Supreme Mother Goddess! The reason we didn't have... that third in line member of the Strife Legion, and that... Iliad, was because I was worried about unnecessary sacrifices..."

Eleanor loosely clenched her right fist and gently blew a few breaths onto her fingernails: "Don't go and provoke those two."

"ah?"

"Are you deaf? I told you, don't mess with those two!" Eleanor raised her voice, looking at Vernon as if he were a stupid dog that could never learn a trick: "Now, before my mood gets worse, get out of my sight!"
