Chapter 463 The Bad News for Connaught

Just as Todd and Deirdre were enjoying their moment together, the sound of hurried footsteps downstairs made him frown.

Todd patted Deirdre's arm and whispered, "Get some rest."

After saying this, he turned and walked out of the room.

Evie, looking anxious, stood at the entrance of the building and saw Todd walking towards her. She hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't.

Todd closed the door and asked Evie, "What's wrong?"

The latter glanced at the bedroom and whispered, "Come with me to the temple. The envoy from the Kingdom of Connaught wants to see you, and all the people from the shamanic gathering have arrived."

As Todd followed Ivy toward the temple, he asked curiously, "Why would the Kingdom of Connaught send an envoy here? Aren't we at war? What's going on?"

“Just half a month ago, the Kingdom of Ulster launched a surprise attack on the Kingdom of Connaught.” Ivy looked at the distant sky and said rapidly, “The Kingdom of Connaught has been defeated.”

Todd shrugged. "That's normal. With Cú Chulainn, the Silence of the Gun, and a surprise attack, Connaught has no chance of winning."

Evie turned her head and shook her head at Todd: "When I say 'defeated,' I mean Connaught...it's already fallen."

Todd gasped: "The fall of a nation?!"

Ivy pointed towards the temple: "Connaught's envoy is waiting in the temple, but I don't know the specific reason... Wait a minute!"

Before she could finish speaking, Ivy suddenly stopped in her tracks.

She turned around and looked Todd up and down, leaving him completely bewildered.

Evie squinted at Todd and asked, "Are you just going to leave like this?"

Todd looked down at his clothes, which seemed perfectly appropriate, and then looked at Evie with a puzzled expression.

Ivy said in a deep voice, "I suggest you transform into a dragon before you go to see that envoy..."

Todd frowned: "Transform into a dragon? Are you sure? Just using the 'Shape Shaping' ability to change your form would take a considerable amount of time..."

Evie leaned closer to Todd and whispered, "This envoy's identity is somewhat special..."

When Todd transformed into a dragon and landed in the plaza behind the temple, he finally understood what Evie meant by "special".

This messenger was none other than Queen Maeve of Connaught.

Looking at the beautiful woman kneeling at his feet, trembling, and the two boys beside her, Todd sighed with a headache.

Todd turned his gaze to the shaman Minnie at his feet and raised his chin.

Minnie understood and took two steps forward, saying, "Messenger of Connaught, please tell the Son of Gods the details of what happened."

With fear and unease still etched on her face, Maeve spoke haltingly about the war that had taken place two weeks prior.

Just two weeks ago, one morning, a warhorse carrying a headless messenger galloped through the gates of Connaught's capital, beginning the kingdom's nightmare.

Cú Chulainn led his army and, in just one day, breached three fortresses along the Connaught border.

Already in monstrous form, Cú Chulainn, wielding a massive, silent spear, moved across the battlefield as if it were empty, facing city walls, defenders, bows and arrows, and ballistae.

When he hurled the Deathly Strike from his hand, the crimson spear swirled and sped through the air like an ancient divine weapon with life. It pierced the bodies of every soldier, turning a fortress into a dead city in the blink of an eye.

Standing next to Todd, Evie asked incredulously, "Throwing that spear could kill everyone in an entire fortress at once?!"

Queen Maeve nodded vigorously and said, "I swear by the name of my ancestors, every word I have said is true! That spear was like a red light in the air, passing through the bodies of every Connaught soldier, taking their lives and leaving only bloody holes!"

Todd listened to Queen Maeve's account and fell into deep thought.

Two things are certain.

First, Cú Chulainn has become a complete monster and has likely lost his most basic human nature.

Secondly, Cú Chulainn may have found an advanced way to use the Silence Spear.

The Silence Spear, as an ancient weapon, is in some ways similar to a modern homing missile.

It can lock onto specific dark energy wavelengths and attack them.

Dark energy resides within every living being and is the most fundamental element constituting the soul.

Based on this analysis, Cú Chulainn's Dead Silence Spear can now perform both single-target and area-of-effect attacks.

For single-target attacks, simply lock the dormant dark energy wavelength onto a specific creature; for group attacks, simply lock the target within the dark energy wavelength range of a group (such as humans).

In other words, a single attack by Cú Chulainn can destroy all enemies within a certain range.

The threat he posed naturally became a major concern for Todd.

Ivy continued, turning to Maeve, "So what are you seeking in Froststone City this time? To borrow troops to help you restore your kingdom?"

Upon hearing this, Maeve became anxious and quickly shook her head in denial: "Connot was burned to ruins by Cú Chulainn's attack, and the corpses were piled up into hills. This kingdom has become a living hell and no longer has any foundation to exist."

"I have come here to beg for your protection, Son of the Gods, to protect me and my two children from the ravages of war..."

Hearing Maeve's request, Ivy curled her lip: "Not long ago, Connaught and Froststone were mortal enemies... Today, the army is out of service, the kingdom has fallen, and you come seeking refuge? Is it really that simple?"
