Chapter 466 A Trip to the Market (Part 1)

The old man turned around, looked at the woman and her two children in front of him, bowed slightly, placed his right hand on his heart, and said, "May the glory of the sons of the gods forever protect this land."

Maeve mimicked the other person's posture and repeated the prayer.

The old man saw the other person's actions and laughed: "First time in Froststone City?"

Maeve was a little embarrassed and didn't know how to respond.

"Froststone City is the central courtyard of the world, and a blessed land where good and evil are clearly distinguished." The old man looked at Maeve and said, "Here, lies and deception are equivalent to evil deeds, and before the scales of fate, good and evil will be settled in the end."

Maeve nodded as if she understood, and said softly, "I hope to sell some of my valuables to buy daily necessities and food..."

Before Maeve could finish speaking, her youngest son, unable to bear the hunger any longer, started crying again.

Seeing Maeve's embarrassment, the old man smiled and took out a wooden box from his pocket. He opened the lid, revealing some handmade pastries inside.

"Eat up, the child is too young, it's not good for his health to be hungry."

Looking at the food box handed to her by the old man, Maeve hugged her son tightly, a hesitant look on her face.

The old man shook his head without taking offense, smiled, picked up a small piece of pastry, and slowly chewed it.

Upon seeing this, Maeve quickly apologized.

Handing over the entire wooden box, the old man watched as Maeve and her children devoured the snacks and said with a smile, “Under the watchful eyes of the Sons of Gods, evil is the most unwise thing to do. Even if opportunism may make you comfortable in life, after death, the scales of fate will make a just judgment, and the wicked will ultimately be dragged into hell.”

A moment later, Maeve looked at the empty food box and apologized to the old man: "This food... I can pay you with money..."

The latter waved his hand dismissively: "In Froststone City, choosing to measure and define the kindness of others with money is the greatest mockery of the word 'good deed'."

Maeve nodded and said nothing more.

The old man patted his chest: "My name is Fried, and I am just an ordinary old man among the masses of Froststone City. If you wish to buy something at the market, I can be your guide."

Maeve was overjoyed and nodded her thanks repeatedly.

Fried looked at Maeve and asked hesitantly, "Let me ask you first, do you have an identity badge from Froststone City?"

"Identity tag?" Maeve asked, puzzled. "What's that?"

Just as Fried was about to explain, he caught a glimpse of two Valkyries following closely behind Maeve, and then smiled and said, "No, it's nothing. I think you don't need that..."
