Chapter 473 The Hero's Destiny (Part 2)

Soaring high above the forest, Todd used his eagle eyes and clairvoyance to observe the bloodstains scattered on the ground.

As Todd flew along the trail of blood, he muttered to himself, "Where is this guy trying to go?"

The bloodstains traveled north from the battlefield, penetrating deep into the heart of the Kingdom of Connaught.

After several hours of circling and tracking, Todd finally flew over a circular arena built on a mountaintop.

"How could a gladiatorial arena be built in such a remote place?" Todd carefully and slowly descended, getting closer to the buildings below.

After some observation, Todd discovered that the arena had only completed the basic civil engineering and landscaping; the decorations were not even finished, making it at best a construction site that was only half-built. However, the arena's stands were packed with "people," cramming every seat to capacity.

To Todd’s surprise, the “spectators” in the stands simply sat there motionless, without speaking or even moving, creating an eerie atmosphere as if time had stood still.

Lower it a little further, and Todd gasped in shock at the scene before him.

Looking around, the thousands of "spectators" sitting there were not living people at all; they were all dressed corpses, some of whom had even decomposed into skeletons.

Among these corpses were commoners dressed in ordinary clothes, nobles in fine robes, and even a king holding a scepter and wearing a crown.

Everyone was nailed to their seats with iron nails, their faces forced to face the center of the arena, and a wooden stick was tied to their backs to support their bodies.

Stunned by what he saw, Todd slowly landed on the ground, looked around at everything, and muttered to himself, "What kind of madman would do something like this?"

"Todd..."

A weak voice rang out, and Todd turned around to see a monster dragging its injured leg as it trudged along the entrance to the arena.

“Cú Chulainn…” Todd’s golden dragon eyes widened as he waved his dragon wings toward the audience: “These! You did all of this?!”

Cú Chulainn, wounded by the Silence Spear, was utterly listless and weak. His upper body revealed half a human face as he spoke in a low voice, "This...this is my garden of rest, the sanctuary of my soul..."

Todd looked at Cú Chulainn in disbelief, his shock and anger rendering him speechless.

"Look at the highest stands. There sits King Conchiob of Ulster and King Egil of Connot. Beside them are a host of kings and lords from smaller kingdoms." Cú Chulainn smiled, looking towards the stands, and said with familiarity, "At the very front of the stands are the nobles of Ulster; and behind them are the people of the kingdom..."

"Enough!" Todd slammed his forelegs into the ground, the force of the impact creating spiderweb-like cracks in the earth. "I was wrong about something! What you've done is worse than that of a wild beast!"

Cú Chulainn stopped what he was doing, looked at the enraged Todd, grinned, and said, "Todd, I've heard about you. I've always had a question for you... If it weren't Ulster that was being invaded, but Twilight City, what would you do?"

Todd was taken aback: "What did you say?"

"If the city of Twilight, which you built from scratch with all your heart and soul, were to fall into the current state of Ulster, what would you do?"

Seeing Todd fall silent, Cú Chulainn continued, "When Twilight City is engulfed in war, and the invaders' iron hooves trample every inch of your land, the nobles only care about self-preservation, even betraying their country for personal gain; while the people forget the glory of the kingdom, betray their original vows, and abandon their only faith... What will you do then?"

Cú Chulainn stretched out his mutated limbs and pointed at the black dragon in front of him: "You will become as insane as me... no, you will be even more tyrannical and cruel than me."

Todd raised his dragon head, staring intently at Cú Chulainn: "No, I'm different, and Twilight City is different too..."

Cú Chulainn burst into laughter, as if he had heard the most amusing thing in the world: "Look at me, and then look at yourself! We are no longer human! What are we?! We are tyrants! We are beasts! Is there still a distinction between good and evil in the world of beasts?!"

"What we need is flesh and blood, is slaughter!"

Cú Chulainn paused for a moment, slowly lowered his forelimbs, and said with a sorrowful expression, "But for you and me, our tyrannical acts and terrifying appearance are merely to preserve the last glimmer of light in our hearts, which is our motherland..."

Todd frowned and looked at Cú Chulainn without saying a word for a long time.

Two tyrants, two beasts, stared at each other on a land filled with death and despair.

After a long silence, Todd spoke first: "Cú Chulainn, give up... come back to the Shadowlands with me, Scáthach is waiting for you."

Cú Chulainn shook his head and smiled wryly, "Waiting for me? You can't even tell a lie properly."

Pointing to the wound on his thigh, Cú Chulainn said to Todd, "Why did my master give you another Death Silence? Do you really not understand, or are you just pretending? It means she has abandoned me, it means she wants to see my head!"

"When I went to the Land of Shadows, I faced countless trials and near-death experiences, all to prove myself to my country and the people I love, to prove that I have the ability and the will to protect them, and to prove that I am their hero!"

Cú Chulainn's mental state deteriorated, his human form gradually being swallowed up by his monstrous form, and his voice grew weaker and weaker: "In the end, the king, the nobles, and the commoners all betrayed this country, leaving me alone to struggle on; and the people I love, my fiancée, my friends, my master, have all abandoned me one after another, leaving me alone to survive like a lonely ghost... What did I do wrong? Why..."

Finally, the last human eye on Cú Chulainn's face was swallowed up by the monster, and no trace of the human that had ever existed could be seen on his body.

The monster's body began to mutate, its size increasing again to about fifteen meters tall. Countless tentacles resembling iron whips grew from its back and chest, and countless compound eyes, like the holes of a honeycomb, bloomed like flowers on its wolf-headed face.

The forelimbs gradually thickened, evolving into two enormous blades, while the hind limbs slowly degenerated into fleshy growths that shrank into the abdomen. Eight sharp claws protruded from the ribs, extending beyond the body surface, and transformed into spider-like limbs.

All these changes make Cú Chulainn look like a giant monster with the body of a wolf and the legs of a spider.

Looking at the monster in front of him, Todd suddenly realized a troublesome fact.

Having completely lost his humanity, Cú Chulainn has entered the second form of a tyrant.
