An associate professor in life engineering travels to a medieval European fantasy world. Using modern biochemistry, he discovers that viruses, bacteria, and parasites extinct in human history are a...
Todd nodded.
“Thousands of years ago, someone entered a room in the beacon tower, and his soul was pulled out of his body and entered another world through the beacon tower. According to such records, the beacon tower has a function of acting as a bridge between different worlds. As long as the right method is found, the soul can achieve the purpose of traveling between worlds.”
Todd rubbed his temples with his index finger: "Even if the beacon tower can achieve the purpose of traveling through space, what do you want to do with it?"
"Since there are so many different worlds, surely there must be one world rich in resources and free from conflict? I plan to relocate all the alien species to that world, to keep them away from war and persecution..."
Rachel's words made Todd give a wry smile: "Relocate all the aliens to a new world? Do you know what you're saying? It's not that simple."
“Aren’t you, sitting right in front of me, the best example?” Rachel said to Todd. “I’ve heard about you. Your journey from the original Heaven to this world proves the possibility of alien migration, doesn’t it?”
Faced with the example Rachel gave, Todd stared blankly for a moment, then asked helplessly, "Assuming this kind of time travel is really possible, how should it be done?"
Rachel smiled and said, "That's why I went back to the Elder Council to copy down those notes about Absolute Will and the Beacon Tower, in order to find a feasible solution."
Todd shook his head vigorously: "Leaving aside whether the notes you copied were useful, just looking at your actions, you were gambling with your life! By the time I arrived, you were already in jail. Do you know? If things had gone astray, you could very well have lost your life!"
Rachel's expression turned sad and sorrowful: "Wouldn't that be the best? I'm already tired of my current state, my soul trapped in a corpse every day, facing nothing but hypocrisy and ugliness... I have no attachment to myself or this world anymore. Death might be a relief for me, at least my soul can be truly free."
Todd sighed deeply: "Ratchet, your death may allow you to transcend everything, but wouldn't all your previous efforts have been in vain?"
Rachel's lips curved slightly, and her signature smile returned: "Who says my efforts were meaningless? Todd, do you know why I kept Deirdre by your side in the first place?"
"Deirdre, what does this have to do with her?"
"Because of her special ability—soul summoning—as long as she's around, my soul will never 'get lost.' Besides her, there's the Alien Association, Karin, Sabrina… Before I came to the Elders' Council, I had already paved all the way out, so that even if death comes, I can return to your side."
Rachel rested her head on Todd's chest: "If the Beacon Tower could really travel through time, the thing I want to do most is to go back to your hometown with you. In that beautiful and peaceful heaven, we can live a happy and new life together."
Upon hearing the woman's words, Todd looked up, revealing an indescribable expression.
“Ratchet, do you know? My hometown may not be as perfect as you imagine. At least there, you can no longer see the twinkling stars and the Milky Way in the night sky.”
