Huggins composed himself, picked up the census report, and said softly, "About those maritime refugees..."
“Oh, by the way, I’ve been waiting for your report.” Todd temporarily put aside the conflict between the Crusaders and the Knights: “I’m more concerned about the refugees than these trivial matters.”
“The maritime refugee population is much larger than we imagined. There are currently more than 15,000 registered refugees, and that number is increasing every day.” Huggins opened the report and said as he read, “These maritime groups have cultural traditions and social structures that are very different from ours. Some of them seem to me even barbaric or backward.”
"The marine species that have been identified so far are mainly divided into seven major groups and more than eighty tribes. These seven major groups are mermaids, flounders, shark whales, sea swans, deep-sea anglerfish, giant mouth sea bream, and others."
Todd listened and nodded: "It sounds like the racial composition is quite complex."
Huggins replied, “When citizens of the Dragon Kingdom talk about differences between races, they only talk about appearance and abilities. But the differences between marine races are vast. Some races have no bones at all, and some can even transform into inorganic forms.”
Todd was a bit overwhelmed: "With such a mixed racial group, how do they even get along with each other?"
“The reality is that some races had never even met other races before arriving at Waiheke Island. They came here entirely because of the oracle of that ancient sea god,” Huggins said. “According to those sea refugees, there were frequent fights between the races over food and shelter during their journey, and some smaller groups were even wiped out as a result.”
