An associate professor in life engineering travels to a medieval European fantasy world. Using modern biochemistry, he discovers that viruses, bacteria, and parasites extinct in human history are a...
Before Rachel could react, Alfonso, clad in armor, crashed through the wall in the hotel corridor and was thrown into the room.
He scrambled to his feet, looking at the enormous figure in black robes outside the wall, and shouted at Rachel, "Who is this guy?!"
Rachel said with suspicion, "He's the strange guy I told you about, the one who saved Karin. This isn't normal; he's been acting very calm before this."
The giant outside the wall hugged a wooden pillar in the passageway with both arms, and after a shake, he actually managed to remove the bowl-sized wooden pillar.
Alfonso lowered the visor from his helmet and said in a deep voice, "Calm? I don't see it that way."
Alfonso drew his two-handed sword from his back and, facing the giant who charged into the room, blocked the wooden pillar that the giant hurled at him.
Marcus exerted force with both hands, lifting the wooden pillar from the ground into the air, sending the knight, armor and all, flying directly onto the wall.
Amid Karin's screams, Alfonso scrambled to his feet once more. He shook his groggy head, then activated the combat restrictions of his Dragonbone Armor, and several parasitic limbs instantly emerged from the armor.
Alfonso swung his greatsword, took a step forward, and desperately withstood another attack from Marcus. His dragonbone limbs, sharp as blades, pierced straight into Marcus's chest.
There was no blood and gore as he had imagined; Alfonso felt as if he had pierced a hard sandbag.
He urged the dragon bones to tear outwards, ripping Marcus's black robe to shreds and finally revealing his true form.
A monster pieced together from various strange corpse parts, its entire body was a pale gray color like metal, and countless snake-like things were writhing and crawling under its skin.
A shriveled head was mounted on top of the monster's body, looking somewhat comical in size, yet sending chills down one's spine.
On the forehead of the monster's head was branded a mark, which was the Sun from Tarot and the number 5 from Tarot. This was a mark of sinners commonly used by the Inquisition.
Alfonso stared at the monster's face, his greatsword suddenly halting in mid-air. His eyes widened in disbelief, and he muttered to himself, "This is impossible."
Taking advantage of Alfonso's momentary daze, Marcus swung his right fist and delivered a powerful blow to Alfonso's abdomen, sending him flying through the room's window and crashing into the street outside the hotel.
Marcus walked to the collapsed window, then jumped down and rushed toward Alfonso, who was lying on the ground, clearly determined to kill him.
The dented keel bone quickly repaired itself, and the injuries on the body also recovered rapidly due to the regenerative ability.
But the immense impact still left Alfonso's head buzzing and his consciousness fading.
"monster!"
"No, run!"
Marcus's true form terrified the people on the street, who fled in panic, turning the entire street into chaos.
Pushing aside everything in his way, Marcus reached out his right hand, grabbed Alfonso from the ground, and let out an angry roar.
Marcus slowly opened his left hand, and several cracks opened in his palm. Hundreds of black necromancy worms swarmed out from the cracks in his palm, soon filling his entire arm.
Upon seeing these familiar black parasites, Alfonso's expression changed, and the honeycomb parasites on his dragonbone armor began to vibrate violently.
Just as Marcus was about to throw the parasite onto Alfonso's armor, several pillars of fire struck him from behind, causing him to howl in pain.
Under the scorching heat of the fire, the undead parasites quickly turned into wisps of smoke.
Taking advantage of Marcus's moment of pain, Alfonso broke free from his grasp and retreated to the other side of the street.
Two knights who had come to reinforce him, wearing dragonbone armor modified with the Flame Breath ability, protected Alfonso as he slowly retreated, spewing flames from his dragonbone limbs.
Still shaken, Rachel arrived at the hotel entrance and stared in disbelief at the scene before her.
After repeatedly confirming that there were no parasites left on him, Alfonso walked up to Rachel and asked, "Do you know who he is?"
Who is it?
Marcus Bourne
Rachel frowned and said, "I think I've heard that name before."
Alfonso said, "That brown-haired young man from the San Sidlow Monastery, a mutant with purple flame abilities, is Myris's illegitimate son."
"It's him?! What's he doing here... Wait, how did you know?" Rachel exclaimed in surprise.
Alfonso raised his greatsword again and walked towards Marcus: "Because his head was cut off by me."
At this moment, Marcus was burned for a full half minute by the spray of fire, but he showed no signs of collapsing. Instead, his skin gradually changed from light gray to bluish-purple.
"My lord, we've encountered a necromance that's immune to fire!"
Alfonso raised his greatsword slightly with both hands and said, "Be careful, this necromancer still retains some intelligence and possesses multiple supernatural abilities."
The other two knights stopped spewing flames, removed their zither shields and longswords from their backs, and formed a triangular battle formation with Alfonso.
The flames on Marcus's body gradually died down, and his entire bluish-purple body slowly grew larger, his hands forming fists that became as hard as steel.
Marcus strode up to the Knights squad, clasped his fists together, and slammed them down.
Alfonso raised his two-handed sword, and the other two knights raised their zither shields. Despite their combined defense, they were all knocked to their knees by the blow, their knees sinking deep into the mud.
