Chapter 712 Vaccination

Watching Ivy's departing figure, Rachel let out a long sigh, leaned against the wall, and slowly sat down on the floor of the room.

Fortunately, the worst-case scenario was avoided.

Rachel buried her face between her knees, recalling everything that had just happened. Evie's words were like knives and axes, carving themselves into her heart.

Is it really wrong to deceive others in the name of love?

"As long as Todd can be rescued, he will make everything alright..."

Upon hearing this, Rachel slowly raised her head and saw Aisha's sorrowful face.

Aisha: "I don't have the ulterior motives of you people. My goal is simple: to rescue the king and fulfill my promise."

Rachel brushed the hair from her forehead and said bitterly, "My goal is very simple. I just want to bring happiness to the people I love."

Aisha looked up at the ceiling: "How do you know that the happiness you bring is the happiness that your loved one longs for?"

Rachel stood there, stunned, without saying a word.

Aisha: "Back when I was a sailor, I never dared to think about whether I would ever see the stars in the night sky again when I opened my eyes each morning. Every extra day I lived, every sip of ice-cold liqueur I drank, was the happiest thing for me."

Aisha: "You see, happiness is so simple. Don't think about things too far in the future, just cherish everything you have now."

Rachel looked at Aisha: "Besides the sea and sailing, haven't you thought about the future?"

Aisha opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

After a long while, Aisha shook her head and said softly, "Owning a ship that can sail on the sea is my future."

Rachel remained silent for a long time.

Finally, she stood up and gently patted Aisha on the shoulder: "Everything will be alright."

Rachel walked out of the cabin, went into the corridor, rubbed her face, and then returned to the hall.

Seeing the tense atmosphere among the crowd, Rachel smiled and said, "Everyone, relax. The misunderstanding has been cleared up."

Sitting at the small table, Ivy picked up a grilled fish, took a bite, and completely ignored the strange looks from others.

Rachel walked to the small table and extended her hand to Evie, hoping for a symbol of reconciliation.

Ivy brushed aside Rachel's outstretched hand and said in a deep voice, "Don't get the wrong idea. You and I will never be on the same path. On this journey south, we are just passing by. Once we find the Dragon Lord, everything will be judged by his will."

Rachel shrugged helplessly, turned her head and waved, urging all the aliens to go back to their meal.

On the vast ocean, a uniquely shaped warship sailed south.

In the pitch-black night sky and sea, the small lights on this warship, like specks of firefly in the endless darkness, appeared and disappeared, drifting towards the unknown distance.

Dusk falls in the western part of the city, at the Civic Square.

Tens of thousands of citizens, under the supervision of the Knights and the Crusaders, formed several long lines and moved slowly toward a row of temporary tents erected in the center of the square.

Sitting in the temporary military camp's command post, Cumberland looked at the endless ranks outside and asked, "Has Wayne arrived yet?"

After confirming, the adjutant replied, "Lord Dunlop has just arrived."

Cumberland: "Let him in."

Half an hour later, Wayne Dunlop, wearing a lab coat, walked into the military camp.

Looking at the scholar before him, who was so emaciated he was barely recognizable as human, Cumberland couldn't help but say, "How long has it been since you've eaten or rested? You should look in a mirror and see your face. Even a dead person just dug out of their grave looks more rosy than you!"

Wayne waved as he coughed.

Soon, a group of assistants brought up several large boxes and a bunch of strange and unusual experimental objects.

Cumberland glanced at it and continued, "You mean that... vaccination thing... I've been driving all the citizens out of their homes and forcing them to come to the square... But can you explain this?"

Wayne casually found a place to sit down, his voice sounding somewhat weak: "Time is of the essence. We were supposed to demonstrate the safety of the vaccine to everyone before the vaccination, but now we can only show it to you."

Cumberland asked, puzzled, "What are you looking at?"

The assistants opened the box, took out the complex experimental equipment, and then took out several huge sealed glass jars.

Upon seeing what was inside the jar, Cumberland and the surrounding knights drew their weapons and retreated while shouting.

Each container contained several undead parasites.

These black worms rolled, split, and twisted inside the glass jar, like loaches struggling in a frying pan, desperately trying to find a place to escape.

Cumberland pointed at Wayne and shouted, "Do you know what you're doing?!"

Wayne waved his hand: "Of course I know."

After saying this, Wayne nodded to his assistants, indicating that they could begin.

The assistants took out several iron cages from another box, which contained live animals such as rats, cats, and dogs.

"This is generally how it happens when a necromantic parasite encounters a living thing."

An assistant opened the sealed container, threw a mouse into it, and then quickly closed the container.

Amidst the piercing squeaking of the rats, the undead parasites, upon discovering the living creature, burrowed into the rat's body in an instant, like flies drawn to rotten meat.

Blood splattered and bits of meat flew everywhere.

Within minutes, the necromantic parasites had completed their parasitism on the rat. Dozens of parasitic limbs rose from the rat's corpse, twisting inside the jar and constantly striking the glass.
