An associate professor in life engineering travels to a medieval European fantasy world. Using modern biochemistry, he discovers that viruses, bacteria, and parasites extinct in human history are a...
Waiheke Island, a gathering place for marine species.
The mermaid clan leader, Rita, swam out of the mansion and floated on the sea, looking up at the eerie blood-red sky above her, her whole body trembling with fear.
Her maid screamed in terror, “The sun and stars are nowhere to be seen!”
Rita suddenly perked up her ears and shouted at the maids, "Shut up! What did you hear?!"
The maid's face turned deathly pale: "Clan leader? What did you hear?!"
Rita cast her gaze toward the distant horizon where the sea met the sky, the roar in her ears growing louder and louder.
On the distant sea, a white line is slowly moving towards Waiheke Island.
The white line is getting longer and longer, and bigger and bigger.
The air is becoming increasingly humid.
A tremendous sound, like ten thousand horses galloping, gradually resounded throughout the entire island.
Rita gasped and shouted to all the surrounding sea creatures, "Tsunami! It's a tsunami!"
Looking out, a huge wave tens of meters high completely blocked out the sky, as if all the seawater had been gathered together and was rushing towards Muxi City at full speed.
Faced with this unprecedented tsunami, the maid was so frightened that she slipped and fell into the seawater, stammering, "Impossible, there can't be such a big tsunami!"
Rita shouted a warning to the surrounding sea creatures: "Everyone! Get out of the rooms! Dive into the sea!"
Amidst the chaos, the towering tsunami was less than 100 meters from Waiheke Island.
Although the main body of the tsunami has not yet arrived, the seawater has already completely submerged the island.
Humans, Crusaders, marine species—all living beings, faced with the apocalyptic tsunami, were like insects trapped under wheels, utterly powerless to survive.
The habitats of marine life, the island's trading buildings, and the harbors on the coast—everything was reduced to ruins in an instant by the massive tsunami.
Corpses, cargo, and ships were swept away like vegetation in a storm and plunged into the sea.
After the massive tsunami flattened Jiliu Island, its momentum weakened, but the aftershocks continued to surge towards Muxi City.
Having just experienced the devastation of an earthquake, Muxi City was left with almost no chance to catch its breath after being hit by the tsunami.
Most of the port area was leveled by the tsunami, and seawater even flooded into the main urban area, turning low-lying areas into swamps.
Rita, slowly waking from her coma, discovered that she had been swept to the roof of the Customs Building in the port district of Twilight City by the tsunami.
Rita raised her head and looked at the towering spire not far away. A mermaid maid had been impaled through the abdomen by the spire, and her body was fixed there like a skewer, her death gruesome.
Rita's hands and feet trembled, her face was pale, and she felt an itch in her throat. She wanted to vomit but found that she couldn't vomit anything.
Looking down from the top of the customs building, there were corpses and debris floating in the sea everywhere. Occasionally, you could see a few living creatures struggling on the surface of the water, but after a few thrashings, they sank to the bottom and never moved again.
Covered in pain, exhausted and frightened, Rita called out in a hoarse voice, "Is anyone there? Is anyone there?!"
She shouted for a full five minutes, just as Rita was beginning to lose hope.
The cries of griffins in the sky caught her attention.
A Valkyrie commanded a griffin to slowly approach her, pointing towards the city center, and said, "Go that way. There's a temporary refuge near the cathedral in the city center, where everyone can be sheltered and helped."
After thanking the Valkyrie, Rita jumped into the seawater, which was filled with debris and corpses, and slowly swam along the waterway toward the center of Muxi City.
Due to the earthquake, many deep cracks appeared in the ground of Muxi City, which provided places for the flooding seawater to find refuge.
Seawater flows into these crevices, forming natural waterways on the ground.
Rita swam along the waterway, looking around as she went.
The entire city of Muxi is now a scene of devastation.
It's hard to find an intact building in the city; floating houses are everywhere, and people are trying everything they can to salvage supplies from the water.
The Knights and the Crusaders undertook the rescue mission, digging through the rubble and doing their utmost to save every citizen who cried for help.
The superpowers and the dragon bones became excellent tools, greatly facilitating rescue operations.
After swimming to a pool near the cathedral, Rita finally found a group of doctors.
After her wounds were bandaged and her fractures treated, Rita saw a familiar knight.
"Lord Dekavo, do you know what exactly happened?"
Alfonso, covered in dust, looked at Rita who had asked the question, paused, and remained silent.
Rita pointed to the blood-red sky above and asked again, "Look at these terrifying phenomena, you must know something, right?"
Alfonso shook his head and said, "I don't know more than you do."
Rita looked around and said, "These can't be accidental or coincidental. With disasters happening one after another, something must have happened."
Alfonso: "Saving people is what I need to do now."
Just as the two were talking, a Valkyrie who had returned from afar hurriedly landed on her mount.
She rushed to Alfonso's side and asked, "Where is the Commander-in-Chief?"
Alfonso pointed to the church: "Lord Cumberland and Lord Emerson are together. They're discussing disaster relief. What happened?"
As the Valkyrie walked, she said, "The frontline patrols have reported that the undead horde has retreated."
