Carroll, carrying her child, stepped out of the tent and witnessed the collapse of the defense line.
Tens of thousands of undead scaled the ruins of the city walls, slaughtering every living thing in sight.
The high elven shaman stood atop the tower. He first glanced back at Muxi City behind him, then stretched out his hands, letting the flames emanating from his body climb up his form.
Finally, he stepped onto the steps at the edge of the tower and leaped down towards the approaching undead fortress below.
The burning body fell into the pitch-black abyss, and the ensuing raging flames instantly engulfed the entire undead fortress.
Carol couldn't bear to watch any longer. She turned around and shouted at the elven female healers who were still packing up medicines, "Drop everything in your way! Run!"
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a bone spur struck, piercing the chest of an elven female healer, causing the others to scream in terror.
Carroll shouted again, "You heard me! Run!"
The elven healers dropped their belongings, lifted their skirts, and followed Carol in a panic, running towards the city gate.
Aldenan used both his hands and feet to guard the rear, annihilating the swift undead pursuers one by one.
However, this fleeing group included unarmed women and newborn children, making their movement extremely slow. They were getting closer and closer to the undead's pursuing force.
Covered in blood, Aldenan ran to Carol's side and said, "This can't go on. We won't make it back to the city in time!"
Carroll held the child in one arm and picked up a broken sword from the ground with the other. With a throw, he killed a relentless undead hound that was chasing after him.
Just then, Mo Ning, who was still in swaddling clothes, was startled and suddenly started crying.
Aldenan was shocked and quickly moved closer to Moning, whispering, "My little angel, don't cry, don't cry, look at me."
Aldenan made a face, but things only got worse, and Mourning's crying grew louder.
The undead nearby heard the baby's cries and let out shrieks.
Carol shoved Aldenan's face away, angrily saying, "If you can't handle kids, don't bother coming here!"
Aldenan rubbed his mouth in annoyance and complained to Carol, "If you know how to coax someone, you try it!"
Carroll held Morning and shook her, but found that the crying showed no signs of abating.
Hearing the undead's footsteps getting closer, Aldenan was now in a panic and completely lost his composure: "At this rate, they'll find us soon!"
Carol glanced down at Moning, then turned to look at the group of trembling elven female healers, and finally fixed his gaze on the group of thunderous war beasts tethered to the Armory Square.
Aldenan, who had been watching Carroll's expression closely, instantly guessed what the other was thinking.
He quickly jumped out and blocked the orc's path, saying, "No! Don't even think about it!"
Carroll shoved Mourning into Aldnan's arms and asked in a deep voice, "Do you have a better idea?"
Aldenan was stunned, but he quickly added, "You promised them you would take good care of this child!"
Carol strode toward the Thunderous War Beast, saying as she went, "Yes, what I'm doing now is fulfilling my promise!"
Aldenan held the child in one arm and clung tightly to Carol with the other: "We can come up with a better way!"
Carroll turned around, grabbed Aldenan's arm, and said with a calmness the latter had never seen before: "This is the only way."
Carol turned around and hugged Aldenan, saying softly, "Live well with this child, my brother."
After saying that, he turned around and continued walking forward, leaving Aldenan standing there alone.
Before Carol even reached the Thunderous War Beast, she suddenly heard hurried footsteps behind her.
Before he could react, a dull thud was heard, and Carol leaned forward, a sharp pain shooting through the back of his head.
Turning around, Carroll saw Aldenan, holding an iron rod, staring at him in disbelief.
Dazed and confused, Carol rubbed the back of her head and roared, "What are you doing?!"
Aldenan stared at the bent iron rod in his hand and muttered to himself, "I knew your head was hard, but I didn't expect it to be this hard..."
After saying this, Aldenan struck Carroll on the head again with a blunt object.
This time, Carroll couldn't hold on and fainted.
With a long sigh of relief, Aldenan dropped the iron rod and yelled at the elven female healers who were watching from a distance, "What are you looking at! Come and help!"
After handing the child to the female doctors, Aldenan pointed to the end of the square and said, "That's the military post station. There are wagons there for loading goods. You drag this big thing, take the child, and run towards the capital of Muxi City!"
"Listen! No matter what you hear or see, just run!"
Aldenan stared at the elven healer and emphasized again, "Keep running, never stop! If you understand, nod!"
Seeing the female doctors nod in agreement, Aldenan breathed a sigh of relief.
One of the elven female healers couldn't help but ask Aldenan, "So what do you plan to do?"
Upon hearing this, Aldenan turned his head and looked at the enormous and cumbersome thunderous war beasts, saying, "There are some things that it's my turn to do..."
Carrying a spear, Aldenan climbed onto the back of a thunderous war beast and watched as the elven healer, along with Carol and Moning, disappeared into the distance at the end of the square. He then patted his mount.
