In the year 2048, following the fall of a meteorite to Earth, an unknown gas was emitted. Subsequently, species globally began to mutate, and humanity was no longer at the apex of the food chain. C...
The violent explosion erupted suddenly, centered on the animals that Wang Lan was holding back. The powerful impact pushed Wang Lan away, and he rolled several times on the ground before coming to a stop.
Just when he thought all the animals had been blown up, he heard several shrill and angry howls.
Wang Lan frowned, got up from the ground, and then saw that several dogs opposite him were still alive. Although their bodies had been blown to pieces, their heads, still attached to their spines, were barking in a resentful manner.
In comparison, the vitality of human infected individuals is negligible; all that is needed is to sever the connection between the head and the body.
Wang Lan picked up the Vajra Umbrella that had fallen to the side and got up. He was about to go over and end this seemingly absurd battle immediately, but suddenly he noticed that a hole about one meter in diameter had appeared in the ground where the thunder had exploded.
Wang Lan knew very well the power of the thunderclap. Although it was powerful, it was definitely not enough to blast a hole in the ground. Driven by a strange curiosity, he walked over with his Vajra Umbrella and looked into the hole.
But what he saw was quite significant. He first heard a few strange "squeaks," and then saw a gray head sticking out of the hole.
It's a mouse!
"Fuck you!"
Wang Lan was so frightened that she sat down on the ground with a thud, completely terrified.
The mutation caused many animals to increase in size dramatically, and rats were no exception. However, Wang Lan had never seen a rat whose head alone could reach a diameter of one meter before.
Fortunately, it was easy to see from the rat's eyes that it was not infected by the virus, but merely abnormal.
The giant rat seemed to sense the scent of animal flesh and blood, and quickly darted out of its hole. Its enormous size did not slow it down; on the contrary, it made its strides much larger, thus increasing its overall speed.
The rat squeaked as it rushed toward the dying dog's head on the battlefield, swallowing it whole without even chewing!
It was incredibly fast, and while these animals were not quite dead yet, it kept darting around, eating them one by one. In no time, it had completely cleared away the corpses on the battlefield.
Seeing this, Wang Lan was both angry and amused. If he had known this would happen, he would have preferred to randomly bomb a few spots earlier to release the rats as soon as possible, thus saving him a lot of trouble.
But just after the rat finished eating the last piece of animal remains, something terrible happened.
Its jet-black, shiny eyes blinked a few times, then suddenly turned into a white blur, and then looked at Wang Lan.
Misfortunes never come singly.
Wang Lan reluctantly picked up the Vajra Umbrella. He didn't have much strength left, but facing the rat in front of him, he had no choice but to muster his energy again. Otherwise, would he have to rely on the three-no man, Lao Zhang?
The man and the rat began their standoff.
But in the end, the rat could not resist the delicious temptation of live meat. It pawed at the ground with its four paws, moving so fast that it seemed to leave only a blur, and flashed in front of Wang Lan.
Wang Lan seemed to have just come to her senses when she noticed the rat biting at her feet.
A surge of anger welled up inside him, and Wang Lan thrust his Vajra Umbrella downwards, blocking the rat between his feet at the last second.
With a "clang".
The mouse bit the Vajra Umbrella.
Wang Lan executed a somersault, landing behind the mouse, and landed on its tail with a powerful kick.
"Squeak squeak squeak!"
The rat then squeaked wildly, its tail wagging incessantly. Wang Lan lost his footing and nearly fell to the ground. The rat was about to turn around and attack Wang Lan again, but its gigantic body inevitably had a larger range of motion when it turned, which slowed it down.
Wang Lan was faster; he pulled out the Vajra Umbrella and plunged it into the rat's eye.
"squeak!!!"
The piercing scream and the blood spurting from his eyes irritated Wang Lan. He raised the Vajra Umbrella and slammed it down, then raised it again and slammed it down again!
Each time, the force was greater than the last.
After being hit repeatedly more than a dozen times, the mouse stopped moving.
The Vajra Umbrella also fell to the ground with a clatter.
Wang Lan collapsed to the ground, panting for a while before finally standing up again.
That concludes the discussion.
The danger from the animals at the livestock farm had been completely eliminated, but Old Zhang unconsciously moved a few steps to the side.
“Don’t worry…” Wang Lan tried to clench her fist and said, “I… am fine right now, at least I haven’t felt anything unusual in my body yet.”
"Uh..." Old Zhang nodded with an awkward smile, but his body betrayed him by moving a little further away, and he said, "Then... then shall we go back?"
“No!” Wang Lan immediately rejected the suggestion. Her unquestionable tone made Old Zhang tremble. He continued, “Whether I will be infected or not still needs further observation. Until then, just in case, it’s best not to go back.”
"So what do we do now?"
After Wang Lan's displayed strength kept refreshing Lao Zhang's worldview, Lao Zhang dared not say anything more and just followed Wang Lan's instructions.
“Let’s go to the back mountain!” Wang Lan said. “Firstly, because the back mountain is closer to my home, and secondly, there’s a river at the foot of the mountain. I need to wash the blood off my body as soon as possible. The smell is too strong and could easily cause trouble.”
Old Zhang understood that the trouble Wang Lan was referring to was something like carrion peckers, flies, and mosquitoes, so he readily replied, "Okay! I have no objection."
