Chapter 650 Conspiracy

But a victorious smile appeared on Xiao Yi's face. Although he suffered some minor injuries, he defeated the powerful enemy and won a chance to survive.

He leaned against a big tree and sat down slowly, breathing heavily. After calming his breath a little, Xiao Yi began to find some first aid supplies from his backpack.

He first took out a piece of clean gauze and gently wiped the blood around the wound. Every time he touched the wound, it brought a sharp pain. He frowned and clenched his teeth, but his hands did not stop moving.

Then, he opened a bottle of disinfectant and carefully poured it on the wound. The moment the disinfectant touched the wound, the intense stinging pain made him gasp, and beads of sweat appeared on his forehead again.

After treating the deeper wounds, he simply taped up the smaller scratches with medical tape. He wrapped the scratches on his arms with bandages to prevent them from opening further and becoming infected.

After doing all this, Xiao Yi felt that he had regained some strength. He stood up and moved his injured limbs. Although the pain was still unbearable, at least it did not affect his movement.

He shouldered his backpack again, stared determinedly ahead, and continued on his way. With every step, pain flared in the injured area, but his steps remained steady and powerful. He knew he couldn't stop; he had to keep moving forward to survive in this cruel world.

Along the way, Xiao Yi kept searching around, hoping to find even a trace of other survivors. However, all he saw was desolation and silence.

He took heavy steps, the ground beneath his feet seeming to swallow up his footsteps silently. The surrounding scene remained unchanged: the dry trees stretched out their bare branches powerlessly like old men in their twilight years; the dilapidated houses were like abandoned shells, emitting a stench of decay.

Xiao Yi's figure seemed so lonely in this dead world. The sun shone down obliquely, lengthening and shortening his shadow. His footsteps echoed in the empty wilderness, but there was no response.

A gentle breeze occasionally blew, raising a cloud of dust that blurred his vision, but brought no breath of life. He passed by one deserted village after another, places that were once filled with laughter and joy, but now only ruins and the sound of silent wind remained.

Xiao Yi's eyes revealed a hint of confusion and loss, but more of a determination. He walked alone, as if he was the only one in the world. No one was by his side, no voice encouraged him, only his own breathing and heartbeat accompanied him, trudging through this long and lonely journey.

As he trudged along, his thoughts drifted back to life before the apocalypse. Back then, the world was so different.

He thought of the bustling and noisy city streets, with cars and people everywhere, shops lining the streets overflowing with goods, neon lights flashing with colorful lights, and people's faces filled with ease and joy.

He still remembers warm family gatherings, where family members gathered together, laughing and sharing delicious meals. The aroma of food wafting from the kitchen filled the room, the smell of home.

The sound of reading in school, the youthful energy on the playground, and the happy times playing with friends all flashed through his mind like a movie.

However, all of this is gone. Today, the world is left with only ruins, desolation, and endless danger.

Thinking of this, Xiao Yi's heart was filled with emotion. Those ordinary and beautiful days have now become so far away, as if it were a distant dream.

At the same time, his heart was filled with helplessness. Helplessness at his fate, helplessness at the inability to redeem the past. He didn't know when this apocalypse would end, and he didn't know if there was still hope for the future to regain the good old days.

But he knew that he couldn't continue to be immersed in memories and helplessness, and he had to keep moving forward, for survival, for that glimmer of hope that might exist.

As time passed silently, the food and water in Xiao Yi's backpack became less and less at a heart-wrenching rate.

Every time he opened his backpack, the once-filled space gradually became emptier. The once neatly arranged bags of dry food were now few and far between, each one seeming precious and scarce. The number of compressed biscuits was visibly decreasing; what had once seemed like ample supplies was now scarce.

The water in the bottle was being consumed drop by drop. Every time I cautiously took a sip when thirsty, I could feel the water level dropping noticeably. The once heavy bottle now felt light, and with a gentle shake, I could hear the pitiful liquid sloshing around inside.

Xiao Yi's mood grew heavier as his food and water dwindled. He began to allocate these precious resources more carefully, carefully considering every use. He knew clearly that once these things ran out, he would face even more severe challenges in survival.

He tried to find new sources of food and water in this desolate world, but most of the time his efforts were in vain. He didn't dare eat the wild fruits he occasionally found, fearing they might be poisonous. Most of the rivers and wells had dried up or were polluted, making them undrinkable.

The dwindling amount of food and water in the backpack was like a countdown clock, constantly reminding Xiao Yi that he had to find a way to replenish them as soon as possible, otherwise the consequences would be disastrous.

He was well aware of the severity of the situation and had to be more frugal with his limited supplies. Every time he took food out of his backpack, his hand would hesitate for a moment before taking out only a little bit, chewing it in small bites, trying to make the meager food stay in his mouth longer to feel more full.
