Chapter 667: Avoiding the Zombie Swarm

The feeling of his body gradually recovering filled Xiao Yi's heart with hope and longing for the future. He knew that he was walking back step by step from the brink of death.

After several long and agonizing weeks of recuperation, Xiao Yi finally reached the moment he had been waiting for.

At first, when he tried to sit up from the bed and put his feet on the ground, his legs were still shaking uncontrollably, as if he was still afraid of the weight he was about to bear. But he took a deep breath, held the edge of the bed tightly with both hands, and encouraged himself.

He carefully released his grip, leaned forward slightly, and slowly shifted his weight to his feet. At that moment, his heart was beating rapidly, nervousness and anticipation intertwined.

Finally, Xiao Yi managed to stand up straight. However, lying in bed for so long made him feel dizzy and the scene before his eyes was a little shaky. He calmed himself down, tried to keep his balance, and waited for the discomfort to pass.

When he felt a little more stable, he took the first step. It was so difficult and slow that it felt like stepping on cotton when his foot landed, with no sense of reality. But he did not give up, and immediately took the second step, and the third step...

Each step was accompanied by a slight stumble, and the sore muscles and stiff joints made him frown, but there was a determination glint in his eyes.

As his steps increased, Xiao Yi gradually found the feeling of walking. Although his movements were still slow, he was able to move more steadily. He walked back and forth in the small room, feeling the joy of regaining control of his body.

The sunlight shone on him through the window, reflecting his thin but powerful figure. Xiao Yi knew that this was just the beginning, but he was finally able to stand up and walk, taking another big step towards survival and hope.

Although the marks left by the wound that almost took his life were still clearly visible on Xiao Yi's left leg, those wrinkled scars were like the ruthless marks carved by the years. Whenever the weather changed or he walked too much, he would still feel sore and tingling.

However, these traces of pain could no longer stop him from moving forward. His eyes no longer contained the fear and despair they once had, replaced by determination and resoluteness.

When he stepped out of the hut that had sheltered him for so long, the sun shone on his face. He squinted his eyes slightly, feeling the long-lost warmth. He took a deep breath, and the air was filled with the smell of freedom and hope.

Xiao Yi tightened his backpack, which contained the first aid supplies and a small amount of food and water that he treasured. Although his steps were still a little staggering, they were full of strength and determination.

With every step he took, he could feel the discomfort in his left leg, but he chose to ignore the pain and turn it into motivation to move forward. He knew that the road ahead might still be full of difficulties and obstacles, but he was no longer the person who was easily defeated by pain.

He walked along the deserted streets, the gravel and weeds beneath his feet unable to slow him down. Passing by the place where he had fought a desperate battle with the zombies, he no longer felt fear in his heart, only a reverence for life and anticipation for the future.

Xiao Yi took firm steps towards the unknown distance. No matter what was waiting for him, he was ready to face all challenges in his survival journey again.

Xiao Yi slowly pushed open the heavy basement door, and sunlight instantly poured in, stinging his eyes that had not seen light for a long time. He squinted his eyes and took a long time to adjust before stepping out of this extremely cramped and oppressive space that had once given him shelter.

The ground beneath his feet had a long-lost solid feel. He took a deep breath of the outside air. The smell mixed with dust and grass made him feel both strange and familiar.

He looked up and around, his eyes full of exploration and desire for a new environment. Xiao Yi knew that he needed to find a higher place to recuperate, where there might be fresher air and a wider field of vision, which would also allow him to better observe the surrounding situation and detect potential dangers in advance.

He dragged his still weak body and began the arduous trek. With every step he took, the pain in his left leg protested, but he gritted his teeth and endured it silently.

Along the way, he struggled to make his way through the overgrown weeds and jagged rocks, sometimes his clothes were torn by branches, and sometimes he tripped over protruding stones, but he got up again and again and continued to move forward.

Sweat dripped from his forehead, soaking his clothes. His breathing became rapid and heavy, but the faith in his heart never wavered.

Finally, Xiao Yi saw a small hill ahead. Though not very tall, it was a hopeful goal for him at that moment. He quickened his pace, heading towards the hill, his eyes filled with anticipation, as if that was the starting point for his rebirth. In that abandoned hut, filled with the smell of decay, Xiao Yi spent a long and agonizing time. During this time, he lived with pain and was constantly alert to his surroundings.

Now, although his body has not fully recovered and he can still feel the dull pain from the wound with every step he takes, he can at least barely support himself to walk.

He looked at the simple bag in the corner and knew it was time to leave. He slowly and methodically packed the few food, water and first aid supplies he had and put them into his backpack.

When everything was ready, Xiao Yi took a deep breath and held the handle of the shabby door with both hands. His heartbeat accelerated involuntarily, because he knew that the world behind the door was full of unknown dangers.

Cautiously, he pushed open the door. Sunlight poured in instantly, causing him to squint uncomfortably. Outside, the wind howled, and weeds swayed messily in the breeze.
