Chapter 85: Space Vegetable Planting

"That happened many years ago, and you still remember it?" Zhang said embarrassedly.

"Wife, you have worked hard for this family over the years." Butcher Yun held Zhang's hand and said affectionately.

"For you and the children, I don't feel tired. As the head of the family, you've been busy all these years, it's not easy either."

"Yes, in the blink of an eye, our children have grown up so much. We are getting old soon. But, wife, you will look good even when you are old." Yun the butcher said in a low voice.

"Haha, Boss, your daughter must have learned how to praise people from you." Zhang said in a low voice.

"You are right, wife. Among our four children, Yiyi is the most like me. Not only does she have my personality, but she also has the ability to speak like me." Yun the Butcher said proudly.

"Boss, what you mean is that Yiyi inherited all the good things from you. And the bad things from me." Zhang said unhappily.

When Yun the butcher saw that Zhang was angry, he immediately started to coax her in a low voice.

"Wife, let me tell you something. Our daughter's intelligence and cleverness are definitely inherited from you. And she's also as pretty as you. Although she's a little tanned now, she still looks good even when she's tanned." Yun the Butcher noticed Zhang's expression was off, and immediately added. As he finished speaking, he saw a smile on Zhang's face. It was so hard to coax his wife, and Yun the Butcher silently wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"I like what you said. Our daughter was so beautiful when she was little. I remember when I took Yi Yi out, all the women in the village rushed to hold Yi Yi." Zhang said proudly.

"My wife is right. We have been fleeing from famine recently and the food is not good. I think our daughters have lost weight. When we find another opportunity, we should cook more meat for the children." Yun the butcher said, looking at the meat and fish on the shelf.

"Of course." Zhang said readily.

"Wife, it's late. You go to bed first. I'll wait a little longer and then I'll go to bed too." Yun the butcher urged Zhang.

"Or, let me take care of it. You've been busy all day." Zhang said with concern.

"I'm strong and I can handle it. Wife, go to bed."

"Then I'll go to sleep first and get up to take your place in the middle of the night." Zhang said as they walked.

"Okay, we'll talk about it later." said Yun the Butcher.

After Zhang went to bed, Yun the Butcher was left alone watching the fire. He peered into the woods. Few houses still had lights on. Most were asleep. The woods were quiet. Feeling a little sleepy, he stood up and strolled back and forth along the official road, fearing he'd fallen asleep.

He saw the fire was getting smaller, so he went over to add more wood and continued his stroll. During this time, he encountered two night watchmen. The night watchmen had to walk to the southernmost part of the official road, where it was about to go downhill, and then return.

The other night watchman also had to walk to the place where Yun the Butcher and his companions had climbed the slope before, and then return. This way, no matter which way they came, the night watchman would be able to detect them. Fortunately, there were two groups of people on duty at night, so everyone could take turns to sleep.

Yun the Butcher turned the meat and fish on the wooden rack twice. When he felt the surface of the meat and fish was a little dry, he added more firewood and went to sleep. Yun the Butcher was really tired. As soon as he lay down on the mat, he immediately fell asleep with a snoring sound.

After Yun the Butcher fell asleep, Yun Yiyi quietly got up and slowly walked over to the little donkey. She took out some corn leaves from her space and fed them to the little donkey. After the little donkey had eaten half a basket of corn leaves, Yun Yiyi brought the little donkey a basin of water. The little donkey drank it in big gulps.

Yun Yiyi didn't wait for the little donkey to finish drinking the water in the basin before she moved the water basin aside. Then, Yun Yiyi transferred a small basin of corn kernels from the space and fed it to the little donkey. The little donkey was really tired recently. In the past few days, Yun Yiyi couldn't find a chance to feed the little donkey.

Yun Yiyi touched the donkey's belly and felt that it was tired and thin. She looked at the donkey munching on corn kernels and felt distressed, thinking that she would have to find an opportunity to feed it later. Although Zhang also fed the donkey cornmeal, everyone was short of food, and Zhang was afraid that she would not be able to buy food in the future. So Zhang did not dare to feed the donkey too much cornmeal.

However, the little donkey didn't eat well and had to work too much, so Yun Yiyi was really worried that it would tire itself out. Yun Yiyi stroked the little donkey's head and thought distressedly. The little donkey turned around and licked Yun Yiyi's face. Yun Yiyi wiped her saliva and laughed softly with joy.

Yun Yiyi waited until the donkey had eaten its fill and finished its water. Then, under the moonlight, she carefully cleaned the basket again. Finding no flaws, she walked to a nearby tree and slipped into the space.

As soon as Yun Yiyi entered the space, she checked on the corn. It wasn't ripe yet, so she probably had to wait a few days. However, the peanuts next to it were ready to be harvested. Yun Yiyi wanted to plant some vegetables, but found there was no space. She had no choice but to pull out some of the peanuts first, and then she would plant some vegetables in the empty space.

To be honest, Yun Yiyi had never grown vegetables before. She followed the same steps as planting peanuts: digging rows of holes in the ground, dropping different vegetable seeds into the holes, and finally watering each one. By the time all the holes were watered, Yun Yiyi sat down exhausted.

First, they had to pull out the peanuts, then dig holes, plant the seeds, and water each hole. The intensity of the work was too great. Yun Yiyi stood on her childish body, but thanks to her natural strength, she would have collapsed from exhaustion long ago.

Yun Yiyi rested for five minutes, then realized it was getting late. She quickly got up and filled all the holes with soil. It took her over half an hour to fill all the holes. "Growing vegetables is much more tiring than growing crops," Yun Yiyi murmured.

Yun Yiyi knew that some vegetables needed to be planted on trellises, so she left a little more space between the two pits. She looked at the vegetables and smiled happily. Once they grew, there would be no shortage of vegetables to eat. And there would always be an opportunity to take them out so the whole family could enjoy them.

Yun Yiyi looked at the clean clothes she had just changed into tonight. They were now covered in mud, as if she had rolled in it. Zhang Shi probably saw this and would nag Yun Yiyi again.

Yun Yiyi had no choice but to take another shower and change into clean clothes. She washed the dirty clothes and hung them out to dry. Then, she took a wooden stick and practiced backhanded tactics for half an hour. By the end of this backhanded tactics, Yun Yiyi was covered in sweat.

"Okay, let's go take another shower." Yun Yiyi resigned herself to her fate and took another shower. After finishing her shower, Yun Yiyi felt that it was getting late, so she first left the space to add wood to the fire where Yun the Butcher was smoking meat. Then, she turned around and went back into the space.
