A powerful being transmigrated into a book about the apocalypse, transforming into a popular top star. Upon arrival, she's immediately asked to perform? No worries, she's got this!
Wi...
Carl's eyes immediately cleared, and he looked away, turning his head to catch the water. He gestured with his chin, indicating that Blood Pheasant's hand was injured.
"Why didn't you go and see Gavin?"
Blood Pheasant chuckled and sat down next to Carl.
"It's a minor injury, no need to trouble him. Let's conserve his abilities."
Carl frowned and disagreed:
“You can apply some medicine even without using superpowers. The wound is exposed, which greatly increases the risk of infection.”
On the back of the blood pheasant's hand, a large patch of skin was scraped off, leaving it bright red. In the past, this would not have been considered a wound.
However, zombies are now very sensitive to the smell of blood, and wounds exposed to the air can easily become infected if they come into contact with zombie blood.
This is no small matter; Carl's tone became even more serious.
"As I've said before, any wound must be taken seriously."
Blood Pheasant, feeling guilty after being spoken to, quickly raised its hands in surrender.
"Okay, boss is right, I'll definitely handle it."
He pointed to Gavin and his group, who were busy working over there.
"The magpie is busy right now, I'll go later."
Upon hearing this, Carl's expression softened. He nodded, gave a soft "hmm," and took another puff of his cigar.
Blood Pheasant turned its head and tentatively called out again, "Boss?"
Carl also turned his head to look over, frowning impatiently, and said irritably:
"Get to the point. Who taught you this nonsense?"
Blood Pheasant gave an awkward smile, not responding to the question, and tentatively inquired, somewhat guiltily.
"Boss, are we going back to China?"
This question surprised Carl for a moment.
He looked puzzled. Had he done something recently that caused them to misunderstand? Why would they ask such a question...?
Carl didn't answer immediately. His silence led Blood Pheasant to misunderstand and embolden him.
Blood Pheasant moved closer to Carl, lowering his voice to a whisper.
"Boss, the time Sister Xin gave us is almost up, how about we..."
Before he could finish speaking, Carl jerked away from Blood Pheasant as if pricked by a needle, indirectly interrupting Blood Pheasant's words.
Carl looked at Blood Pheasant with some disappointment. He had been his brother for many years, and for a moment he didn't know how to start a conversation.
Should he condemn him now? Angrily berate him? Or how should he deal with it?
Blood Pheasant realized that what he was about to say might be inappropriate, and with an apologetic expression, he apologized before Carl could speak.
"I'm sorry, boss, I shouldn't have been so selfish."
He pursed his lips slightly, lowered his head and looked at the back of his hand with a somewhat dejected expression.
Carl was also feeling uneasy. He took a deep breath, realizing that some things needed to be said clearly; continuing to avoid the issue would only allow it to fester and worsen.
"You want to stay in Country Y?"
As soon as Carl opened his mouth to ask the question, Blood Pheasant's shoulders trembled, and he looked up, his eyes filled with panic.
"Boss, I'm fine with anything. I'll stay wherever you want me to. Just please, don't involve Alice in this."
He spoke with a slightly agitated tone, gripping Carl's arm tightly. As he gripped the arm, blood seeped from the wound on the back of Carl's hand and slid down his arm back to his sleeve.
"She knew nothing about this. It was my selfish desire to take Alice to the Flower Country because I knew that being with Sister Xin was the safest place in the world right now. I..."
Carl initially felt a surge of anger and resentment, but as he listened, he began to sense that something was amiss.
"You want to take Alice to the Flower Country?"
Carl's puzzled expression was so obvious that even Blood Pheasant noticed something was wrong.
He nodded, somewhat puzzled.
"Yeah, what else?"
Carl sighed, somewhat speechless. It turned out it was all a misunderstanding.
"Excuse me, what were you about to say? Say it again."
Blood Pheasant also realized what was happening and quickly said:
“I was just about to say that the time we promised Sister Xin is approaching, and there are still many people in the legion who haven’t been heard from yet. Sister Xin also needs manpower. Should we split into two teams and act separately?”
Blood Pheasant added, somewhat embarrassed,
"Also, if we're going to split up, could Alice go to Sister Xin's place first?"
Currently, Carl has not given them a clear answer as to whether the other members of the War Wings will be able to leave with them this time.
Therefore, it is understandable that Blood Pheasant is worried about his girlfriend Alice being left behind in Country Y.
Carl was even more speechless now. He glared at Blood Pheasant, grabbed the water bottle that Blood Pheasant had just handed him, and threw it at Blood Pheasant's shoulder.
"What, you think we'd go through all this trouble to come back and find them, and then just abandon them?"
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He stood up abruptly, looking down at Blood Pheasant with displeasure.
"Or do you think that our Warwing will disband?"
He spoke quite loudly, and the others, who had been deliberately ignoring their conversation, all looked over cautiously and worriedly after he said this.
At this point, surrendering with his hands was useless; all he wanted to do was bury his head in the ground.
He weakly explained, "Boss, that's not what I meant. I was just too worried before and didn't think things through. I'm sorry..."
"What's wrong, boss?"
Vulture was still the one charging ahead, casually asking Carl.
