1. Su Qing was in a car accident. When she reopened her eyes, she was in a desolate land. The system sound in her mind was her only hope for survival in this place.
Starting with a dilapidate...
Chapter 140 A Little Bit Lost
Su Qing circled the city in her helicopter. She looked in all directions and whenever she saw people on the rooftop, she would fly over and land, taking them to a temporary shelter.
Sometimes when the ground rescue team encounters obstacles, they will go down and help put the broken cars and collapsed building bricks and tiles blocking the road into backpacks to quickly clear the road.
After everyone's unremitting efforts, it took three days to finally evacuate all the survivors in the disaster-stricken base.
Su Qing was the last one to return to the temporary resettlement site. Looking around, he saw that the entire camp was in a mess. People were wearing tattered clothes and were extremely dirty. Some of them were covered in blood. They gathered in groups of three or four, with vigilance in their eyes.
A team of soldiers was busy distributing water and compressed biscuits. The team was crooked. Some of them were complaining impatiently, while others silently took the supplies, opened the packages and swallowed them immediately.
Amidst the commotion, she glanced around and then paused. Qin Yu was standing in the shadow of a tent at the outermost edge of the camp. His camouflage training uniform was covered in mud. His right hand was wrapped in a bandage, and dark red blood had seeped out.
There was a man standing beside him, and the two were talking. Qin Yu seemed to notice that someone was watching him, and suddenly raised his eyes to look at Su Qing.
The air seemed to freeze for a moment, and his heartbeat quickened uncontrollably. Su Qing was the first to look away, turned around and ran to help distribute supplies.
Qin Yu chuckled at this, then looked away and continued talking to the person next to him.
Military transport planes brought in the victims, but within a few hours most of the temporary camps were empty.
All the supplies had been distributed, and Su Qing was helping to pack things up when suddenly a flash of fire appeared before his eyes and an explosion was heard behind him. At the same time, the soldiers shouted, "Rocket launcher! Take cover!"
She turned around and saw that a tent not far away had been blown up and was now on fire. Fortunately, the tents were empty at the moment, and only the people around were unable to dodge and were affected by the shock wave of the explosion and suffered minor injuries.
The soldiers immediately entered combat mode, and gunshots rang out continuously in the camp. Su Qing half-crouched down and looked forward. Several tall figures were attacking the camp with guns in their hands.
Su Qing could tell at a glance that they were mutant zombies transformed by Luo Xinxin. He didn't know where they got their weapons from. Now they no longer used their bodies to fight head-on, but moved around the camp nimbly and exchanged fire.
A soldier next to him was shot and lying on the ground. Su Qing threw several grenades to protect him and signaled others to pull him away.
The soldier was carried on the back of his comrade and was about to thank Su Qing when his expression suddenly changed. "Be careful!"
A zombie suddenly stood up on the roof of a car in front, turned his back to the light, raised his hand high, and threw a black object at Su Qing.
"Grenade!"
She flipped back, grabbed the RV from her backpack and held it in front of her.
The thing hit the RV and there was a loud bang, with flames and black smoke rising into the sky.
Su Qing's ears were buzzing, her head was shaking and her eyes were full of stars. She shook her head, gritted her teeth and stood up. A rocket launcher suddenly appeared in her hand. She quickly loaded the shells, aimed at the zombies, and pulled the trigger.
The zombie was standing on the roof of the car smugly, but when he saw a shell coming towards him, he dodged in a hurry. The rocket flew past him and exploded behind him. He smiled contemptuously at Su Qing, and just as the corners of his mouth cracked, with a "bang", the zombie's body exploded, and his limbs and arms scattered in the air.
Su Qing raised his eyes and looked at the back of the zombie. It was Qin Yu with a stern face, carrying a rocket launcher on his shoulder and blasting the zombie into pieces.
Meeting his gaze, their eyes intertwined for a moment, and Qin Yu turned around to command the soldiers to gather their formation and counterattack the zombies.
Su Qing put away the rocket launcher and followed the soldiers to move the injured to a relatively safe place. She took the medicine produced by the system and distributed it to everyone one by one, watching them swallow it silently. Someone grabbed a military doctor and ran over quickly to treat the wounds of the soldiers who were shot.
The soldiers simply wrapped themselves in gauze and were about to stand up. Su Qing looked at the bloodstains on their gauze and advised, "If you're injured, don't move for now. There are so many people here, we can handle it."
Someone looked at Su Qing, pointed at her and said, "Miss Su, you are injured too!"
She followed the position of the soldier's fingers and felt a sticky sensation on her hand. One side of Su Qing's neck was covered in blood. She didn't know where the wound was. She simply wiped it and said, "It's a minor wound. It's okay."
In the distance, a group of ordinary zombies roared and besieged the camp. Seeing that nothing was happening here, Su Qing picked up his gun and joined the melee.
Ordinary zombies are relatively weak and bite based on instinct, so they don't pose much of a threat to well-trained soldiers like them. Even if there are many of them, they cannot withstand the fierce gunfire and artillery attacks and fall down in groups.
The most difficult to deal with are those mutated zombies.
Su Qing and the other soldiers fought with one of the mutant zombies. After several exchanges, she was exhausted and breathing slightly rapidly. Seeing this, the mutant zombie swung a palm towards her. Su Qing subconsciously raised her hand and blocked it with her gun.
The huge force made her hands numb, and she knelt heavily on one knee. She gritted her teeth and held the big palm tightly. The nails on her fingers flashed sharp light in front of her eyes. The hand suddenly grasped the gun body, and with a force, the machine gun and Su Qing were lifted high.
"Miss Su!"
"Hurry up and save Miss Su!"
Su Qing's feet left the ground and he subconsciously wanted to let go, but before he could do so, the mutant zombie threw him and his gun away, and they fell heavily to the ground.
The soldiers around her had no chance to catch her and could only watch her being thrown into the zombie swarm.
A living person suddenly appeared in front of the zombies, and they all roared and rushed towards Su Qing. A flash of light passed by, and a burnt smell filled the air.
Everyone immediately raised their guns and attacked the zombie group. In just a few seconds, all the zombies around Su Qing fell to the ground, and a group of people rushed over to cover her retreat.
Su Qing was protected by someone behind her. She wiped her face which was stained with blood. The pain in her body made her frown. She felt a little dizzy and everything in front of her eyes was shaking.
As the world spun, someone supported her and asked cautiously, "Miss Su, are you okay?"
Su Qing suppressed his discomfort, smiled and said it was okay, then stood up straight.
The soldiers fought more and more bravely, and the zombie group began to lose the upper hand. Seeing this, the mutated zombies threw out all the ammunition they were carrying, then turned around and ran away.
Leaving behind a group of ordinary zombies with little consciousness, they were all quickly killed without anyone in command.
The battle finally ended.
Su Qing retreated to the front of a car, half of her body leaning against the door. She struggled to lift her arm and hissed in pain. It seemed that she had broken a bone in the fall...
"Check to make sure all the zombies are dead... Send a few teams to guard the area and set up a simple treatment area. Treat the injured as soon as possible. The team will rest here and wait for evacuation..."
She heard a familiar voice and squinted her eyes to look over. Qin Yu was walking hurriedly past her with a group of people, seemingly not noticing her at all.
Su Qing stared at the receding figure, and slowly slid down to sit on the ground. She took out a few pills from her backpack, but because one hand was inconvenient, she swallowed them directly. A bitter taste spread in her mouth.
Her vision blurred and she closed her eyes, but the discomfort became even worse. She bent her knees, placed one hand on them, stared at the ground, and gasped softly through her dry, pale lips. Drops of sweat slid down her chin and hit the ground.
The feeling of wetness around the neck was always there, and even the collar seemed to be soaked.
After taking the medicine for a while, Su Qing felt that the symptoms of discomfort seemed to have subsided a little.
The sound of running could be heard in the distance. A figure approached, bringing with it a breeze and a bit of panting. Qin Yu ran to Su Qing, knelt on one knee, and held her shoulders with both hands and asked anxiously, "Are you hurt? Is it serious? Let me see where you are hurt!"
Su Qing saw that his face was resolute, cold and murderous, but his anxious look almost wiped out his leadership aura. He ran over without caring about his image, which made many soldiers look at them.
She pulled the corners of her mouth slightly and smiled, "I took the medicine and I'm fine now."
Su Qing did not lie. After taking the system's medicine, she did feel much better.
Qin Yu looked her up and down worriedly. Seeing that Su Qing's neck was covered in blood, he didn't believe it at all. Just as he was about to reach out to touch her, someone came up and whispered to him, "Commander, many soldiers have been scratched by zombies. What should we do?"
Although everyone on the mission had been vaccinated, facing the new mutant zombies, about which very little data was available, was not 100% safe. Qin Yu asked, "How many people were injured?"
"About twenty or so, some bitten and some scratched. Several are showing signs of fever. Do they need to be kept under observation?"
Qin Yu looked at Su Qing hesitantly. Su Qing smiled and said, "Go and have a look. I'm really fine."
"Don't move here. I'll have someone call a military doctor to check you out. I'll be back soon."
Su Qing nodded and watched Qin Yu get up and leave in a hurry. After a while, two soldiers, each holding one arm of the military doctor, strode towards her.
The military doctor was panting and angrily scolding the two soldiers for being rude, but when he saw Su Qing, he immediately put away his anger and carefully checked her injuries.
"Miss Su, how can you still hold on despite such serious injuries? The back of your head is scratched by shrapnel, your left arm is dislocated, and your body is covered with abrasions. Ouch, quickly carry her to the medical tent!"
Su Qing stared blankly as several people found a stretcher and lifted her up to take her into the medical tent. Until her dislocated arm was straightened, the intense pain brought her back to her senses instantly.
She cried out softly, "Ah," and tears flowed uncontrollably from her eyes.
The soldiers around were all relatively young, and they were at a loss for what to do when they saw Su Qing sitting alone on the hospital bed and crying silently.
Su Qing endured the pain and quickly took out the painkillers and swallowed them. She looked at the military doctor with tears in her eyes, "You should tell me before you do it. Give me a chance to take the painkillers!"
The military doctor scratched his head awkwardly. "I was worried you'd find out and you'd be afraid of the pain and wouldn't cooperate, so I forgot you had medicine on you."
The painkillers took effect, and the military doctor sewed three more stitches on the wound on the back of Su Qing's head. All the abrasions, big and small, on her body were treated and disinfected. After she had cleaned up her wounds, she told the young soldiers that she was fine and told them to go do what they needed to do and they didn't need to stay with her.
A soldier took two steps, then turned back and whispered, "Miss Su, please don't be upset. Our commander is also helpless. Everyone needs to follow his orders."
Su Qing was stunned, and his shoulders slowly drooped. Even outsiders could see the loss in his heart?
Qin Yu is a soldier, and he is committed to his duty of serving the people and protecting his comrades. If he had given up leading the others in battle just because he cared about her, if he had ignored the soldiers who might turn into zombies and only comforted her, then he would not be Qin Yu, the first commander of the special forces, and he would not be the person she likes.
But like today, if the system hadn't protected her and given her time to escape, she didn't know if she would be able to survive if thrown into the zombie horde, and she didn't know who could save her...
It happened in a split second. She hoped that Qin Yu would appear in time to rescue her, and that he would be by her side to comfort her while she was treating her wounds.
She felt a little disappointed that she was not his first choice.
Of course Qin Yu was not wrong, he had done very well, but she actually became greedy and wanted more...
