"Are you new here? Take your bowls over there. We serve four dishes and a soup every day."

A friendly cafeteria lady peeked over from beside the stove and greeted Lu Sheng and his group with a smile, "The food here is pretty good. There are two meat dishes every day, and you can eat as much as you want of vegetables and rice. Don't be shy, just make yourselves at home."

Two large sterilizing cabinets stood in a corner of the cafeteria, filled with neatly arranged clean bowls and chopsticks. Next to the stove was a large pot of steaming soup, but Lu Sheng and the others were too far away to see what it was cooking.

"Thank you, Auntie, we're not hungry." Sun Tiantian obediently raised her little face.

The cafeteria lady affectionately touched Sun Tiantian's little face, "Oh my, this girl is so pretty."

"I know you're embarrassed, Auntie will serve you some. Please find a place to sit down first."

Lu Sheng and the others couldn't refuse, so they could only find a table near the door to sit down for the time being.

Soon, the aunt came over with a cart full of food trays. "One serving for each person. If you need more, just let me know. Don't go hungry. You are all children and are still growing."

"Thank...thank you, Auntie..." Sun Tiantian forced a bitter smile.

As the cafeteria lady turned away to attend to other tasks, the group finally couldn't help but gag, with Lin Xiaobei and Han Rui almost vomiting right there on their plates.

The four compartments on their plates contained stir-fried green peppers with pork, stir-fried cabbage with wood ear mushrooms, braised pork, and a cold dish.

The green peppers were so rotten that their green color was no longer visible; the cabbage and wood ear mushrooms were covered with countless tiny holes; the braised pork was crawling with rotten mold and wriggling insects; and the cold dishes only had a pungent vinegar smell, making it impossible to recognize the original ingredients.

These severely spoiled ingredients, cooked with a large amount of seasonings, emitted a complex odor that was indescribable, rushing straight to the top of Lu Sheng and his group's heads.

"Damn, these cabbages and green peppers have been buried for at least seven days..." Zhang Xiaojuan couldn't stand it anymore, so she took out a tissue, tore it into strips, rolled it into small balls, and stuffed them into her nostrils.

Xu Yi remained calm and gently stirred the food in the plate with his chopsticks. "It's been spoiled for at least two months."

"Teacher Xu, don't you think it smells bad?" Zhang Xiaojuan felt as if her great-grandmother, who had passed away ten years ago, was beckoning to her.

"You'll get used to it." Xu Yi gracefully put down her chopsticks and glanced at the neighboring tables.

The nearby tables were already full of steel factory employees, both men and women.

Most of the time, three or four people would sit together, eating and gossiping about things that happened in the factory.

"Your phone case is so pretty! Is it the super popular Lina Bell brand? Send me the link when you get back."

At the next table, a curly-haired girl was happily fiddling with her companion's phone. She picked up a spoon, scooped a spoonful of braised pork broth onto her rice, and then, under the watchful eyes of Lu Sheng and the others, scooped a spoonful of rice into her mouth.

Watching the girl swallow the rotting flesh that was almost melting, Lu Sheng and the others felt extremely uncomfortable.

"They're all eating..." Han Rui's face scrunched up as she gently touched Lu Sheng's thigh with her finger.

Apart from Lu Sheng and her group at their table, everyone else in the cafeteria was nonchalantly enjoying their rotten lunches, completely unaware of anything amiss.

"I can't take it anymore..." Lin Xiaobei's face turned pale, and she was about to rush out the door.

He had just stood up when he bumped into the kind-looking cafeteria lady.

The aunt glanced at the plates in front of Lu Sheng and the others. "Why aren't you eating? Is the food bad?"

The group exchanged bewildered glances, weighing the potentially disastrous question in their minds.

If you really say it's not tasty, you might just infuriate this freak of a cafeteria...

Lu Sheng smiled slightly, trying her best to play the role of a naive and innocent day laborer. "Thank you, Auntie, it's delicious."

"Then why aren't you eating?" The cafeteria lady still had a smile on her face, but at this moment she seemed very kind to everyone.

"Auntie, we're on a diet. We're too fat, our bellies are all chubby." Sun Tiantian had a sudden inspiration. She lifted her short-sleeved t-shirt a little, revealing her chubby little belly, and patted it.

The cafeteria lady chuckled and gently placed her calloused right hand on Lu Sheng's shoulder. "You young girls aren't fat at all, why are you trying to lose weight?"

Suddenly, she turned her gaze to the boys on the table. "Are you guys on a diet too?"

"We..." Lin Xiaobei tensed up instantly, sweat streaming down her forehead.

Just as the group was so nervous they couldn't utter a single word, Xu Yi suddenly stood up and politely approached the cafeteria lady. "Auntie, this braised pork is delicious. It tastes just like the kind my family makes. Could you teach me how to make it?"

The cafeteria lady immediately beamed and pulled Xu Yi to the stove, "Let me tell you, when cutting meat, you have to cut against the grain, and then..."

While Xu Yi was distracting the cafeteria lady, the remaining few people made a swift escape.

"You guys go downstairs first, don't go too far, I'll wait for Teacher Xu to come with me." After taking only a few steps out the door, Lu Sheng whispered instructions to the group and then went back to the cafeteria.

She slipped into the corner, becoming invisible, and quietly leaned against the door.

Xu Yiru's refined appearance and proper manners make him a heartthrob among housewives; he can make the cafeteria aunties smile with just a few words.

Lu Sheng watched helplessly as the aunt placed the rotten and maggot-infested raw meat on the cutting board and used a cleaver to demonstrate to Xu Yi how to cut the meat.

The spotless cleaver and cutting board clashed horribly with the rotten meat, a sight that even Lu Sheng found unbearable.

A few minutes later, someone finally came over to get more food, and Xu Yi was finally able to get away.
