Jiang Chan transmigrated from the apocalypse into a melodramatic novel filled with continuous natural disasters: drought, floods, locust plagues, epidemics... and even interwoven with various stran...
The monitoring instruments outside the jar continued to operate smoothly, with the green light steadily indicating that she was in "good health" and had "excellent organ activity".
Just then—
Click... Buzz...
A familiar yet chilling mechanical sound came from not far away!
Jiang Chan's pupils suddenly contracted. Enduring the stiffness in her body, she struggled to turn her eyes and look through the murky green liquid and the distorted glass jar walls at the "bed" next door.
A huge, cold, spider-like metal mechanical arm, flashing a merciless red light, is sliding down a track from the ceiling!
The robotic arm hovered precisely above the enormous life support tank next door. Inside the tank, a blurry humanoid silhouette could be vaguely seen floating in the green liquid.
Sizzle—!
A laser silently sliced through the sturdy glass lid of the life support tank!
The green nutrient solution gushed out like a flood and flowed into the recycling tank below.
Several slender, precise metal instruments, gleaming with a cold light, protrude from the end of the robotic arm, resembling a combination of a scalpel and tweezers.
They reached into the open can!
Precisely avoiding the pipes connected to the adjacent container, it probed towards a certain part of the body—it seemed to be the abdominal cavity!
Jiang Chan felt as if her heart was being gripped by an icy hand! She could even "hear" a faint, submerged sob coming from the jar next door, like a dying cry.
Then, there was an extremely slight cutting and peeling sound!
The robotic arm worked steadily. Soon, it carefully retracted its claw. At its cold metal tip, it tightly gripped a blurry, still slightly wriggling mass, submerged in a pale red preservation solution… organ tissue? It looked like a kidney!?
The robotic arm, carrying the harvest, rose smoothly and moved away.
The life support container next door is empty.
Only an empty support frame remained, standing there all alone.
The green liquid had drained away, leaving sticky watermarks on the inner wall of the container.
The smell of disinfectant in the air was stronger, but it couldn't mask the faint, newly wafting scent of blood and... the cold, deathly aura unique to organs removed from the body.
That container... was "picked".
It's like picking a ripe fruit.
Jiang Chan felt a chilling coldness pierce through the green, viscous fluid, seeping into her very bones. This was her fate. Soon, perhaps during the next routine check-up, or at the request of some "gardener," those cold, robotic arms would reach into her jar, dissect her, and remove the organs she had nurtured for who knows how long…
She floated stiffly in her green cage, staring at the empty frame and remaining watermarks next door. A wave of immense fear washed over her again, but this time, deep within that fear burned a cold, burning flame called revenge.
She felt the cool, sweet-smelling liquid continuing to flow into her veins, throughout her body, and into her heart, her liver… every “part” of hers that was about to be harvested.
bring it on.
Come and pick some!
Try what I've prepared for you... "sweet poison".
[“Sweet Poison” Injection Progress: 18%...In progress...]
The system notification sounded coldly.
The liquid, with its strange, sweet, and fishy smell, flowed into Jiang Chan's blood vessels through the cold tube.
cold.
A slight chill crept up her arm and spread throughout her body. It felt a bit like taking a sip of ice-cold soda on a hot summer day, but... a bit thicker. The sweet, fishy taste lingered in her throat, making her feel a little nauseous, but her body didn't feel particularly uncomfortable.
She held her breath, her whole body tense, staring intently at the gleaming instrument panels outside the glass jar, especially the sections displaying numbers like heart rate and blood pressure.
Heartbeat: thump...thump...thump... steady and strong, the green numbers beating rhythmically.
Blood pressure: The value is steadily within the normal range, and the indicator light is green.
Other random symbols and lines remained steady, without jumping around or turning red.
The alarm didn't go off.
The red light didn't flash.
The cold machines outside seemed completely unaware that something inappropriate had flowed into the pipes.
Jiang Chan's tense body gradually relaxed, slumping limply in the viscous green liquid. The coolness still slowly crept through her body, and the faint sweet, metallic taste lingered in her throat, but at least for now, she felt safe. The system's information had indeed fooled the machines.
Poison has been mixed in.
The next step is to wait. To wait for that so-called "gardener" to come and pick her "fruit".
She couldn't move, and her vision was confined to this small green jar. She could only see with her eyes and hear with her ears.
Outside the jar was a huge, empty, cold metal room. Rows and rows of identical glass jars, like canned goods on a supermarket shelf, were neatly arranged.
Some of the jars contained human figures, motionless like her, covered in tubes. Other jars were empty, leaving only lonely shelves.
The room was very quiet.
The only sounds were the low hum of the machine running and the soft gurgling of liquid flowing through the pipes.
Occasionally, the sound of machinery breaking the silence.
Click... Buzz...
Jiang Chan rolled her eyes and saw a complex robotic arm in the distance, which moved nimbly once again. It glided to a glass jar filled with green liquid, extended several slender metal claws, and precisely opened a sealed opening of the jar as if peeling fruit.
