Jiang Chan transmigrated from the apocalypse into a melodramatic novel filled with continuous natural disasters: drought, floods, locust plagues, epidemics... and even interwoven with various stran...
Consciousness returns.
Jiang Chan immediately checked the system space:
Several simple wooden crates with ventilation holes floated in the air, and faint, delicate chirping sounds could be heard coming from inside!
There were also clumps of fluffy, squeaking little things, piglets and lambs huddled together...
It's done!
She immediately moved to a slightly higher open area at the edge of the camp, away from the crowd.
Mind lock!
Buzz!
A strange fluctuation occurred in the open space!
Several wooden crates with ventilation holes appeared out of thin air!
A group of fluffy, yellow chicks huddled together, chirping incessantly!
A round, pink piglet with a curled tail, grunting and curiously looking around!
Beside them were a noticeably larger adult sow and a robust boar.
There were also ten snow-white, lively baby goats with tiny, tender horns, who jumped and hopped as soon as they landed, wanting to run away...
Living creatures! A large group of lively, wriggling domestic animal cubs appeared before everyone's eyes in an instant!
"Oh my God!!!"
"Live...live chickens! Pigs! Sheep!"
"A miracle! Another miracle!"
After a brief silence, the crowd erupted in an unprecedented, earth-shattering gasp! Whether they were the old folks or newcomers like Zhao Si, without exception, their eyes widened and their mouths gaped open enough to fit eggs!
The sight before them completely shattered their understanding! This...this conjured up lively livestock?! This was no longer magic; it was the divine power of the Creator!
Thump! Thump!
They all knelt down in a flurry! The new refugees, led by Zhao Si, were especially excited. They had never witnessed such a miracle before. The enormous shock made them instinctively prostrate themselves on the ground, their foreheads pressed firmly against the soil, their bodies trembling like leaves!
"The fairy has appeared! The fairy has appeared!"
"Mountain God, have mercy! Mountain God, have mercy!"
"Stand up!" Jiang Chan shouted sharply, her voice carrying an undeniable authority. "No kneeling! No kowtowing!"
The sound of the crowd bowing subsided instantly, but many people remained prostrate on the ground, not daring to raise their heads, their bodies still trembling.
Jiang Chan took a deep breath, pointed at the group of bewildered little animals, and raised her voice, making it clear to everyone:
"Look carefully! These chicks, piglets, and lambs didn't appear out of thin air! They're the Mountain God! The Mountain God saw our hard work in clearing the land and our sincere and determined hearts, so he bestowed blessings upon us, giving us the means to multiply and thrive!"
She deliberately emphasized the words "Mountain God":
"The Mountain God bestows living things upon us so that we may take good care of them and live well! He doesn't want you to kowtow to him! If you want to worship, go to the other side of the hill and worship towards the highest mountain in the west! That's where the Mountain God manifests his power!"
The crowd looked up blankly, glancing at Jiang Chan, then at the lively little creatures, and finally at the desolate, cloud-shrouded mountain to the west…
Mountain God?
"Yes, yes, yes! It's the Mountain God!"
"I knew it! No matter how powerful the fairy is, she can't create living things out of thin air!"
"It turns out that the mountain god has appeared to us!"
Someone quickly kowtowed to the west, then got up and shouted to the still somewhat dazed crowd, "Did you hear that? The girl said it's a blessing from the Mountain God! From now on, when you worship the Mountain God, you're not allowed to kneel before the girl anymore! The girl is in charge of the Mountain God's blessings!"
The crowd seemed to awaken from a dream! Their awe-inspiring gazes shifted from Jiang Chan to the barren mountains to the west, and they looked at Jiang Chan with awe again.
"Thank you, Mountain God! Thank you, Miss!" Zhao Si also got up and bowed excitedly to the west.
"Thank you, Mountain God! Thank you, Miss!"
The crowd followed suit, bowing and paying their respects to the west, finally ceasing their prostrations. Although still filled with awe, Jiang Chan was no longer the "deity" who needed to be directly worshipped, but rather a "messenger" connecting the mountain god and humankind. This sense of distance relieved Jiang Chan.
After the initial fervor subsided, real-world problems arose.
What do these living ancestors eat?
The chicks chirped and pecked everywhere with their delicate beaks. The piglets rooted in the soil with their pink noses. The lambs lowered their heads, searching for tender shoots of grass.
The crowd looked at each other in bewilderment.
"Girl... what... should we feed them?" Zhao Si looked at the group of chicks with their mouths open and scratched his head.
"Grain...grain?" Wang Mazi asked cautiously, looking at the piglets with a pained expression.
Jiang Chan was prepared. She walked to several wooden boxes, opened the lids, and took out several cloth bags containing ground grains mixed with some unidentifiable yellowish-white powder, which was the initial mixed feed.
"The chicks have just hatched, so feed them this fine feed mixed with a little water first." She handed the feed bag to Zhao Si's wife. "The piglets and lambs...feed them this for now, in small amounts and frequently."
She then pointed to a large basket of wilted and yellowing cabbage leaves piled in the corner of the camp: "These vegetables can be chopped up and mixed in, or fed directly."
"Huh? Hey...hey, vegetables?" A woman nearby looked at the basket of wilted cabbages. Although they weren't fresh, they were still food for these people who had been starving for so long. "This...this is a bit of a waste..."
“Yes, girl,” Shuanzhu couldn’t help but chime in, “If we chop these vegetable leaves up, we humans can eat them too…” The way he looked at the piglets was as if he were looking at a bunch of spendthrifts wasting food.
Jiang Chan picked up a slightly wilted cabbage leaf with a blank expression, snapped it in two, revealing the still relatively fresh cabbage stalk:
"Vegetables grow as soon as they're planted, and if we can't eat them all, they'll rot in the ground. We feed them, they grow up, lay eggs, have offspring, and produce milk. Then we'll have meat, eggs, and milk every day! Why would we be reluctant to waste these vegetable leaves?"
