Arcane: I Built Mechs in Piltover

Li Lin transmigrated to Piltover on the continent of Valoran. He originally thought his life would pass by uneventfully, until he became an employee of the Kiramman family and discovered he possess...

Chapter 145: Darkin Legend

Azir replayed the scene that happened that year and confirmed that the culprit who caused his failure to ascension was Xerath, whom he once trusted the most.

As the first rays of morning light shone on Azir's golden eagle armor, he quickly calmed his breath and then jumped from the ascension platform.

The sweeping yellow sand supported his divine body, slowing down his descent.

More than ten seconds later, Azir landed slowly in front of Li Lin, Kassadin and Sivir.

His eyes, burning with golden magical flames, first looked at Sivir, then paused briefly on Kassadin, and finally focused on Li Lin, who was vaguely following them as their leader.

Li Lin's throat moved unconsciously and he swallowed.

Under the gaze of a demigod-like warrior, it would be a complete lie to say that there is no pressure.

"It's a very sophisticated armor that allows an ordinary person to unleash extraordinary powers."

Azir's tone was slightly sentimental. "You made these, didn't you? You remind me of an Ixtal god-warrior who was also skilled in technology..."

Hearing him say this, Li Lin immediately thought of a name - Tyrant Nazuk.

He is the great elemental mage of Ixtal.

After obtaining the qualification to ascend and become an ascender, Nazuk has made extensive research in the field of magical technology.

Among them, he was in charge of designing many of the sophisticated mechanical devices in the imperial tombs.

During the Void War, he developed a living monolith that could accommodate tens of thousands of great wizards and other god-warriors of Ixtal, a giant floating war fortress - Monolith.

It was as big as a city, floating slowly from Ixtal to Icathia, continuously raining down thunder and lightning like a punishment from heaven.

Under Nezuk's leadership, the Monolith battled the void monsters of Icathia for weeks. Countless elemental artillery blasted away mountains and plowed the surface of the earth into layers. The destructive sorcery and elemental magic were enough to wipe out an entire civilization and turn a continent into a distant memory.

However, even so, they still failed to defeat the endless stream of void monsters.

Distortion and corruption eroded the monolith. Even though it possessed the ability to repair itself and was blessed with infinite magic, it could not escape the fate of destruction.

Except for Nazuk, all other elemental mages including the god warriors were killed.

But he realized that the Void could not be defeated, betrayed the creed of the God-Warrior, and fled for his life.

Simply put, Ne'zuk is an Ascended being who betrayed the Shuriman Empire...

Noticing Li Lin's slightly panicked expression, Azir laughed:

"It seems you've also heard of that traitor. I don't have any other intentions, I'm just impressed that a mortal like you can master such exquisite skills."

As he spoke, he suddenly changed the subject: "But... I am very curious about where the divine weapons in your hands came from."

Azir looked at the crossblade Charikar in Sivir's hand, and then glanced at the bracelet storing the Blade of the Underworld on Kassadin's right wrist.

"Charikar, long before our ancestor Setaka died in the battle against the void monsters, the Grand Maester personally buried it and its owner in an unknown place.

"And there's the Underworld Blade of Horok, the great warrior who ended the Void War. During my reign, he used this wrist blade to slay countless tricksters.

"I want to know why these two weapons are in your hands?"

There was a hint of questioning in Azir's tone.

Damn it, are you trying to take my cross blade away...

Seeing this, Xiweier couldn't help but frown and clenched the Charikar in her hand.

Kassadin lowered his head in fear and was about to explain when Li Lin spoke first:

"Your Majesty, with all due respect, you may have been asleep for too long and don't know much about what happened afterwards..."

Li Lin bowed respectfully to Azir, his tone neither humble nor arrogant.

"Oh?" Azir's eyes flickered. "Then tell me, why did Sivir possess the Charikar, the location of which only the Grand Maester knew? And why did Horok give his Underworld Blade to an ordinary human?"

The invisible imperial and divine pressure from Azir made Li Lin a little breathless.

He took a deep breath and briefly told Azir what he knew, which was rarely recorded in the history of Runeterra.

After the fall of the Imperium, most of the God-Warriors who survived the Void War, but had been twisted and corrupted, lost the leadership of the Emperor.

Although they are immortal, their souls are still mortal souls. In addition, they are corrupted by the Void and inevitably have petty ambitions.

Without the constraints of the Shurima Empire, these fallen Ascendants learned forbidden dark sorcery over the long years and believed themselves to be the legitimate heirs of the empire.

They attacked and killed each other, showing their brutal and bloody side after being corrupted by the void.

The world contemptuously called them "Darkborn".

In ancient Shurima, it probably means an obscure curse: the Fallen.

During the Darkin War, some Darkin were ambushed and killed, such as Horok who died at the hands of Nezuk.

Meanwhile, another group of Darkin were divided and plotted against at a subsequent Darkin conference by Maisha, a girl who was given power by the Twilight Aspect. She used Charikar to eliminate most of the Darkin present.

In the following time, Maesa taught humans how to kill the Darkin with this weapon given to the first generation of Ascendants by the Targonians.

Those Darkin who were too powerful to be killed used it to seal it into their weapons...
