The village was eerily quiet.

Although the winters in Demacia are very cold, there are some insects that do not exist on Earth and are very active in winter.

In a village like this, which is close to the mountains, there should be many different kinds of strange insects.

However, not only was there no one in Hengfeng Village, even these tiny insects and other creatures were nowhere to be seen.

There are probably hundreds of households here. According to the footage taken by drones after breaking through the windows of several houses and entering the houses, the doors of every household are tightly closed, and almost all of them are locked from the inside.

Li Lin, Jarvan IV, Barrett, Alberk and Shyvana, who rushed over after hearing the noise, looked at each other and fell into silence.

"Are we... late?"

Alberk couldn't bear to stare at the holographic image taken by the drone, so he turned his head to look in the direction of Hengfeng Village on the other side of the river.

"Andel's sudden disappearance might be a sign of something bad happening," Li Lin interrupted. "Your Highness, I don't recommend that we continue pursuing this matter."

Jarvan IV fell into deep thought.

The village has missed the best opportunity to evacuate, and all the villagers may become food for the demon of fear.

If Andel was just a mad man with a broken heart, he really shouldn't have risked his men's lives by entering the village to look for him...

Just as Jarvan IV was hesitating whether to withdraw his troops and go down the river to Tobyssia and then return to the capital, the figure of a little girl suddenly flashed across the projection screen in front of him.

Seeing the little girl wearing a coarse linen shirt and a pigtail, who looked only six or seven years old, everyone was shocked.

Then she walked briskly to the back of a house nearby.

"—Hiss!" Alberk couldn't help but gasp, "Is this an illusion created by a wizard?"

"This little girl is very similar in age and appearance to what Andel described." Shyvana had a confused expression on her face, "But isn't she missing?"

"Missing doesn't mean dead," Barrett said. "Don't forget, we haven't ruled out the possibility that they were kidnapped by bandits."

"But if she were to be kidnapped by robbers, it would be impossible for a little girl like her to come back, right?"

After Alberk said this, Li Lin, Jarvan IV and Barrett frowned, looking at the scene in the playback of the little girl looking at the camera, wondering what they were thinking.

"She discovered the drone." Li Lin's tone was filled with an ambiguous meaning.

"So that little girl is not Andel's daughter, or she is not a human?" Jarvan IV said in a deep voice.

He knew that if Li Lin's drone entered the "stealth" state, it would be impossible for ordinary people to detect it with their senses.

Or, this guy who looks like a "little girl" is an evil wizard who controls the forbidden magic of rejuvenation.

Or, she is a spirit familiar created by an evil wizard using humans, so no signs of life can be detected in her, only extremely low energy index fluctuations.

Fortunately, they could at least eliminate the possibility that this little girl was a demon...

"Go back, Your Highness."

Li Lin tried to persuade them again, "My drone has scanned a 5-kilometer radius and hasn't found a single living person. This village is beyond saving."

"From the current perspective, this village is still safe for the time being, right?"

What he didn't expect was that Jarvan IV actually asked a less relevant question.

"Then, let's stay here for now and let the drone investigate the situation in the village."

"If the devil has wreaked havoc on this village, then any of the surrounding villages and towns could become its next target," Jarvan IV explained.

“Xiongdu has no records of methods to fight against the demon, so we must investigate its origins and develop strategies to deal with it.

"Otherwise, when it reaches Xiongdu in the future, we won't have any way to deal with it, and we will be lambs to the slaughter."

He scanned the three people's expressions and added, "Besides, encountering a demon is only our worst-case scenario. What if the one wreaking havoc on this village is an evil wizard? If we evacuate without investigating, wouldn't that mean he's still at large?"
