Recently, Tokyo Nichiuri TV host Yoko Okino conducted an exclusive interview. Her interviewee was the renowned private detective and special consultant to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department...
Yoruichi Toyama was taken aback, then took a breath and leaned back in her chair.
The smile he revealed was almost as sarcastic as that of Rei Furuya.
“Mingzhi, you’re right,” he said sarcastically, “the police officer really has a lot of official power!”
Mingzhi glanced at him, but surprisingly did not answer.
Suddenly, with a "meow," the black cat walked over and jumped onto Yoruichi Toyama's lap.
[Host, host, calm down, he's the one you're trying to win over...]
"Pah! I've got a terrible temper!" Yoruichi Toyama pointed his finger at Rei Furuya's nose.
"Did you hear him speak human language just now?..."
After he finished speaking, the coffee shop suddenly became unusually quiet.
Rei Furuya, Akechi, and even Akemi Miyano all gave each other strange looks.
Yoruichi Toyama then realized that she had spoken her criticism of Taro out loud.
It's one thing to verbally abuse a police officer to their face, but to do it specifically to insult a cat is another.
Yoruichi Toyama's outstretched finger froze in mid-air, unsure whether to retract it.
With a "fluttering" sound, the owl Pengzhisuke flew over, landed on his hand, and made a "whooshing" sound.
This look at first glance resembles a circus performance.
The three people who initially disliked each other have calmed down to some extent.
Rei Furuya reached out and rested his hand on the table, then smiled.
"Then let's continue..."
However, before she could finish her sentence, Akemi Miyano stood up first.
"Officer Furuya, there's no need to make things difficult for us."
"Please forgive me, I am not feeling well and must take my leave now."
"By the way, Mr. Akechi, would you like to come and sit with us? I've got a new kind of black tea this time!"
She didn't mention Yoruichi Toyama, but the question is, if she's gone, what's the point of Yoruichi Toyama staying behind?
Everyone, including Akechi, realized that she was standing up for the two of them because of Furuya Rei's impolite attitude.
Yoruichi Toyama immediately stood up with a grin, carrying the cat in one hand and the bird in the other, looking every bit the spoiled young master.
“Mingzhi, let’s go! I’m telling you, the black tea that Mingmei bought this time tastes just like the cat food…”
Under Rei Furuya's almost freezing gaze, Akechi raised an eyebrow, then stood up to face Yoruichi Toyama and Akemi Miyano.
In the end, all I could do was sigh heavily.
“Yuanshan, don’t be impulsive…” he said, clearly trying to control his emotions.
"Neither you nor I can guarantee Miss Akemi's safety 100%."
"Oh? Heh!" Yoruichi Toyama sneered, then waved her hand again, pointing at Rei Furuya, who was still sitting at the table.
"Can he really do it?"
At the same time as the voices began, there was another series of flapping wings.
"Hōnosuke, go!"
The owl swooped down on the cold-faced police officer, and before he could react, its talons had already slashed a long gash across his face.
Surprisingly, there was no bleeding at the "wound," but instead, dark skin underneath was exposed.
Rei Furuya, who had remained unmoved by Yoruichi Toyama and the others' sarcasm and attacks, finally raised his hand and slowly tore off the damaged outer layer of his face.
It turned out to be a finely crafted disguise mask.
Despite Yoruichi Toyama receiving the "Master of Disguise" cheat code from Taro, she still couldn't detect any flaws due to the indoor lighting and the disguiser's meticulous concealment.
His conclusion that Furuya Rei was in disguise was entirely because he already knew...
Rei Furuya doesn't look like this!
What ordinary middle-aged man? Isn't he just a blond, dark-skinned kid about the same age as Akechi?
Sure enough, after the disguise was completely torn off, what was revealed was a handsome face with milk-coffee skin and features that clearly showed mixed-race characteristics.
Then he simply took off his wig as well.
“I heard that Mr. Toyama is a master of disguise,” Furuya Rei, who looked ten years younger, said frankly, “but you still managed to see through me.”
"you……?"
"It's you?"
The response he received was not from Yoruichi Toyama, but from the simultaneous exclamations of the other two.
Yoruichi Toyama was also stunned.
He belatedly realized that Furuya Rei was actually an undercover police officer working at the brewery, codenamed Bourbon.
Aside from their childhood acquaintance with Akemi Miyano's family, they must have met within the organization as well.
But what about Akechi?
Although his true colors had been revealed, Furuya Rei inexplicably gained the upper hand and first turned his gaze to Akechi, who looked indignant.
"You recognized me."
It should be a question, but it's phrased as an affirmative statement.
“Of course, you traitorous spy!” Mingzhi replied immediately.
However, the way she turned her face away made it seem like she was sulking.
Yoruichi Toyama then asked in a low voice, "What happened?"
“You don’t need to worry about it,” Mingzhi paused, his expression softening somewhat, though his words still carried a hint of resentment. “It’s a personal grudge.”
“That’s right, it’s a personal grudge.” Furuya Rei repeated with a faint smile.
When she looked at Akemi Miyano, her expression became more serious.
"So, Ms. Akemi... or rather, Ms. Miyano Akemi, you know me too?"
Akemi Miyano, whose real name was called, suddenly swayed.
Yoruichi Toyama quickly grabbed one of her arms and could clearly feel her trembling.
“Bourbon…” she murmured.
