The abyss has awakened, and the supernatural has descended. Qin Tan is caught in it. After an evil summoning, Qin Tan returns to the human world.
Having lost her memories of the abyss, she un...
Years have passed.
Things have changed, but people are no longer the same.
The elevator doors opened, revealing busy medical staff; even in the ward where she had previously treated patients, there were now new patients.
She stood at the doorway, watching the mother inside, her eyes lowered, watching over her sick son.
That memory wasn't beautiful.
It was only after she joined Dawn's Pivot and deliberately searched that she learned that on the day she awoke, members of the Abyss Church broke into the hospital, killing people as sacrifices in an attempt to usher in the arrival of the Lord of the Abyss.
That day, countless people died or were injured; her escape seemed to be a matter of luck.
Qin Tan could not forget the countless faces of the dead recorded in the archives.
Who are you looking for?
The door to the ward was opened, and the boy's mother came out. When she saw Qin Tan, she asked him a question, her weathered face bearing a faint sorrow.
"No, just passing by."
Qin Tan shook his head and brushed past the mother.
She could feel the questioning look in the other person's eyes as they lingered on her, and the incandescent light above her flickered a few more times.
This puzzled her.
Hospital lights should be inspected regularly. With so many people coming and going every day, how could the lights be malfunctioning?
Then I heard the sound of a door opening behind me.
Qin Tan turned her head and saw that it was her mother who had re-entered the ward.
It must have been her gaze that disturbed the mother and son.
As Qin Tan was thinking, she saw her bracelet vibrating violently; it was a call from Lin Zhisui.
"Qin Tan, where are you?"
The hurried and flustered voice revealed the seriousness of the matter.
"I have some business to take care of at the Thirteenth Hospital. What's wrong? Have you encountered some difficult situation? Send me the location and I'll head over right away."
Qin Tan agreed and started to walk out.
But then, there was silence on the other end of the communication.
"Lin Zhisui?"
She called out, but all she heard was Lin Zhisui's heavy breathing.
How did you get there?
Qin Tan sensed something fishy from those words.
"What exactly happened?"
Qin Tan's voice sounded much heavier.
"Qin Tan, you don't need to come over, because the problem occurred at the Thirteenth Hospital."
What's the situation at the hospital now?
Something happened at the Thirteenth Hospital?
Qin Tan, who was in the midst of it all, felt nothing. She watched the medical staff working as usual, and then, her eyes welling up, she told Lin Zhisui.
"Then find another window, somewhere where you can see outside, and tell me what you see."
"Hurry up."
Lin Zhi urged him on.
Qin Tan didn't delay.
She rushed to the end of the corridor, where there was a window right next to the elevator.
Through the glass window, she could see a thick fog rising outside, the heavy white fog enveloping the entire hospital.
Qin Tan remembered that today was a bright and clear night with few stars in the sky.
This is not normal.
"Fog, I see fog."
She spoke to Lin Zhisui on the other end of the line.
"We are too."
“Just a few minutes ago, we received news that a large white fog suddenly descended on the Thirteenth Hospital, sealing off the entire area.”
"Whether it's vehicles or pedestrians, once they go in, they all disappear."
"Did you see those people?"
On the other end of the communication line, Qin Tan heard the sound of an emergency assembly.
The Thirteenth Hospital has at least a thousand staff members and patients; such a large-scale project requires manpower.
"There haven't been any lost people on my floor yet. I can't see outside because the visibility is too low."
The distance of less than half a meter was completely covered by fog, so there was no way to see what was below.
"Okay, could you please go to the entrance on the first floor and check the situation? Keep the call going."
"We are on our way."
Qin Tan agreed.
She opened the window a crack.
The mist seeped in but did not cause any harm to the body; instead, it brought a slight cooling sensation.
As if finding a gap, a crack, the white mist rushed in.
Qin Tan closed the window.
Why is it foggy?
"This fog is so strange."
She overheard people in the hospital talking about it; some were patients, and some were staff.
On the other side, someone opened a window.
A large amount of white mist rushed in instantly, engulfing the corridor.
"I can't see it."
"Oh my god, must I be seeing things?"
Even with bright lights overhead, the fog still obscures one's vision.
In the same corridor, people seem to have disappeared.
"Quickly close the window!"
Someone was shouting anxiously, and commotion could be heard from some of the wards.
During this time, Qin Tan heard the voice of the mother who had just asked the question.
Qin Tan turned a corner and walked over.
I then realized that the window in this ward had been open the whole time. My mother had been washing things in the bathroom, and when she came out, the room was filled with white mist.
"Don't rush."
Qin Tan opened the door and helped the woman who was groping around blindly.
This kind of cover wasn't very useful to her.
She remembered the layout of the room, easily walked to the window, and closed it.
Qin Tan's shadow spread out on the ground, enveloping the entire room. Her shadow's power swallowed the mist in the room into the crimson world.
The room was lit again.
The shadow receded at Qin Tan's feet.
Qin Tan's backpack moved slightly; it was the princess reminding him.
The patient was in a coma on the hospital bed, but the numbers on the monitors showed that he was not in any immediate danger.
Seeing the mother relax and go over to check, Qin Tan quietly left.
