Xie Wei, by chance, learned from a system that his world had a 'Child of Destiny', and that he, Xie Wei, was like a minor supporting character with little screen time in a novel within this...
"Huff...huff..." Ye Yan was panting heavily, holding a Tang sword in his hand, blood splattered from the corner of his mouth, and his other hand was covering the place where he had just been injured—a horrific wound on his abdomen that revealed the bone. In front of him was the corpse of a demonic cultivator who had just been killed.
"Boss!" A man dressed in special operations uniform, with light blue hair tied in a ponytail and a handsome face behind goggles, came to Ye Yan's side with a worried expression and began to check his wounds.
"Why are you still so stubborn? What if you die?" Zhou Yaoxia looked at his serious wound, her anxiety as if the wound were on her own body.
"Fortunately, this guy is a bit cunning. We couldn't force him out without this method," Ye Yan said, putting the Tang sword back into his storage artifact and comforting her as if nothing had happened.
At this moment, another person appeared behind Zhou Yaoxia. Looking at the scene before her, they spoke up inappropriately, "Second Sister, leave the boss to me. The team still needs you."
Zhou Yaoxia glanced at Ye Yan, and seeing that he nodded, she left for the time being.
"Third brother, this is troublesome." Ye Yan sat down cross-legged and began to circulate the spiritual energy within his body.
The one called the Third Brother is the Spirit Doctor. He has no surname; his name is simply "Ming".
The spiritual power emanating from his palm transformed into spiritual energy and approached Ye Yan, beginning to heal his wounds.
After the treatment was over, Ye Yan put his clothes back on, and the team members gathered in front of him.
Because of the tragedy that happened before, the team was renamed the Demon-Slaying Team, which has a total of seven members.
Wei Zhuo, the youngest member of the team, is a skilled hacker responsible for investigation and information gathering. It was through his investigation that Ye Yan and his group discovered this place. (Later in the series)
The sixth sister, Qin Mengmeng, plays the role of an assassin, specializing in tracking and killing, and is at the mid-stage of the Innate Realm.
The fifth brother, Qian Hao, is responsible for communication within the team and is tasked with disguising himself as a member of the squad. He is the one who collaborates with Ye Yan on the overseas security company, and he is at the early stage of the Innate Realm.
The fourth brother, Han Lie, is a hot-blooded young man with a bit of a chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) and is proficient in all kinds of firearms and vehicles. He is at the mid-stage of the Innate Realm.
The third brother, Ming, is a spiritual healer, responsible for interrogation and acting as a healer.
The vice-captain is Zhou Yaoxia, the second oldest, who acts as the commander when Ye Yan is not around; she is at the late stage of the Innate Realm.
Team leader Ye Yan, the backbone of the team, is at the half-step into the mortal realm;
This is a remote mountain village in the suburbs of Shanghai. The team found this place by investigating step by step through information obtained from that evil cultivator at the Imperial University. It is a laboratory hidden in a cave.
After a fierce battle, the evil cultivators inside were finally eliminated, leaving only one or two for interrogation.
The data in the laboratory was erased, and the cultivators who were experimented on were either dead or had lost all their cultivation and spiritual power, and had gone mad. Ye Yan could only take them back to see how the higher-ups would arrange things.
Before the person who brought him back for interrogation could ask him more than a few questions, he turned into a raging fire and burned to ashes.
The team members were no longer surprised by ghosts; it was a kind of mental imprint that would be triggered if anything inappropriate was said, ultimately leading to the same outcome as just now.
Fortunately, the trigger seemed to have a delay, and they managed to extract some information using that delay.
By compiling the information, they obtained new clues about their next operation:
"Once the ruins open, elders will lead teams inside to capture experimental subjects."
...
Xie Weizheng sat in the passenger seat of the sports car, propping his head up with one hand, looking out the window at the scenery with an unreadable expression.
Meanwhile, Bai Shiying, looking radiant, was driving her car, wearing an ethereal light purple ruffled top, a denim mini skirt, sheer stockings, and white high-heeled sandals.
The two were getting ready to go on their date.
The incident began after the class reunion when Xie Wei got into Bai Shiying's car again to return home.
"How about we go on a date?" Bai Shiying suddenly asked.
"Huh?" Xie Wei raised an eyebrow. "It's too late, and I already have other plans for today."
"Tomorrow? The day after tomorrow? I'm fine with either, as long as you have time," Bai Shiying said without any hesitation.
Xie Wei smiled and said, "I'm really sorry, I've been quite busy these past few days, I have all sorts of plans."
"You're so reluctant to go on a date with me?"
"What are you saying? I don't quite understand," Xie Wei said, feigning ignorance.
"Heh," Bai Shiying stopped talking and focused on driving.
Xie Wei thought she had compromised, but he was wrong.
"You're not driving in the direction of my house," Xie Wei said, looking at the road ahead. The girl was driving out of the city.
"When did I say I was going to take you home?" Bai Shiying glanced at Xie Wei sideways, her tone laced with amusement.
"What do you want to do?" Xie Wei didn't seem to be in a hurry because of the trick, and just said it calmly in this situation.
"What do you want?" Bai Shiying slammed on the brakes and stopped on the side of the road.
Xie Wei leaned backward due to inertia, and she quickly seized the opportunity, straddling Xie Wei with her long legs, facing him, and using one hand to recline the passenger seat, causing Xie Wei to lie back.
Bai Shiying's body kept moving closer to him.
"I originally wanted to have a proper date with you before taking this step, but since you're in such a hurry to skip the middle, I'll grant your wish." Bai Shiying's expression was charming, her eyes full of allure, and she slightly raised one leg to straddle his waist.
"What are you doing?" Xie Wei asked coldly, looking at the fairy in front of him, seemingly unmoved.
"I didn't realize you were forcing yourself on me," Bai Shiying said, touching Xie Wei's face. "I believe Mr. Xie is not the kind of irresponsible person."
